Made the biggest mistake of my life

I am using this space let some thoughts out of my chest as I have been unable to console myself. Hoping to make sense of my situation

My marriage of three years ended because I didn't put more effort into my physical self after my husband repeatedly requested for me to look more "interesting". At the start of our marriage, I did what I could to make myself more appealing, which worked but naturally after living together and sharing the same space for a while, I opted and chose to embrace my natural habitat instead of putting on make up, having my hair done, and wearing clothes just to entice him. I didn't think much of it, but I could see the effects of me looking plain and undesirable taking a toll on my husband. He lost all care and interest in building a future together with me and has blamed me for it.

I very well understand that I sound like a person with zero self respect and self worth, and that my husband should love me no matter what, but right now it does not matter how I see myself. Because when he told me outright that he was unable to see a future with me, I packed my bags and left him the same day. My self-respect side took action and left in the moment of emotion, instead of proving myself to him.

Now a month later, I am grieving my home, my life and the future that I dreamt off with him. I am blaming myself for not listening and trying to live up to his "standards". I now believe that I am undesirable and too ugly to find another man in my 30s. I certainly did not envision my life to turn out like this.

Again, I sound like a desperate fool, but I truly cannot stop thinking of the 'what ifs"

Please stop private messaging

A sincere request to those men who are sending private messages to women who are either married, married and struggling, or going through divorce. There is absolutely no reason for any of you to ask for a chat? It either comes across as very desperate, creepy or satanic. This is a Muslim marriage platform for Gods sake, and not tinder.

No woman would want to be unfaithful regardless of any reason, and talking to a man, however innocent it may sound, is a form of cheating, in my opinion. Ask yourself, would you want your wife to secretly talk to men in private behind your back because she is feeling a certain way?

Instead of lurking and targeting vulnerable women, please pray and repent and sincerely ask Allah to bless you with a spouse.

Being divorced over the way I look

Salam everyone,

My husband very blatantly and cruelly told me that he cannot see a future with me due to the way I look and that he feels scammed by me and my family.

This is the harshest admittance from his end. I appreciate that men favour attraction and that attraction is the key component to keep a marriage afloat, but making someone feel so small and unwanted hurts so incredibly bad. It is not my fault that Allah made me the way I am.

Me and my husband got married 3 years ago and we connected through his sister but more in a traditionally arranged setting. We had plenty of time to connect and make a decision to marry. I suffer from excess facial hair, which I usually have under control, but it is something that he happened to notice. I completely understand that he feels unattracted by it, but it is not a disability, just some unwanted hairs that could be lasered away.

Throughout our marriage, we separated twice over other serious matters, but he called, cried and wanted me back with such intensity and with hopes and promises, I wish he vocalised his lack of attraction then before I started investing myself into the marriage. I would have understood that the desired superficiality if he would have been kind with his admittance but targeting my looks and or the lack thereof, and victimising himself when he himself is full of flaws is something I don't be able to get over.

I filed for divorce today because he made it clear that he wont be able to produce any care for me.

Potentially ruined and messed up my life

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping for some advice or to hear from anyone who has been through something similar.

I married my U.S. citizen husband and moved from the UK to live with him about two years ago. We spent that time gathering evidence to file my adjustment of status application. Just as we were finally ready to submit everything, I had a family emergency back home that required me to leave the United States.

I knew that leaving after overstaying could trigger a 10-year bar, but everything happened so quickly that I made the decision in a panic without fully thinking through the consequences. Looking back, I deeply regret it.

I'm devastated because it feels like I've lost the life my husband and I had built together. We had a home, plans for the future, and simply wanted to live as a married couple. The thought of being separated for so long has been heartbreaking.

I know we made mistakes. We should have filed much earlier instead of delaying the process, and I wish we had understood the consequences better. Hindsight is a painful thing.

From what I understand, a waiver may be possible, but I also know it can be a long and difficult process. Right now, my husband and I feel completely overwhelmed and unsure where to go from here.

Has anyone here been in a similar situation or successfully obtained a waiver after triggering the 10-year bar? If so, what was your timeline, and what advice would you give? Any experiences or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you to anyone who takes the time to read this or share their experience or who has heard of any miracle stories.
