I don’t get the GTA 6 hype anymore.

We’ve spent months calling out PlayStation for going digital-only. Fair enough, digital-only is a terrible direction. Yet Rockstar is doing the exact same thing with GTA 6 (physical copies are just a box with a download code, no real disc, and no plans for one later) and the reaction is somehow much quieter.

Then there’s the console-only launch. Yes, it’s coming to PC later. No, that doesn’t feel justified after this long. Twelve years of development and it’s still exclusive to PS5 and Xbox Series at launch.

On top of that, tech analysts are already warning that current console hardware is going to struggle to keep up with the simulation demands. A solid 60 fps mode looks unlikely at launch, and even the stronger consoles may be locked closer to 30. (If this is the case why would they not launch it with PC as well so people could run it on more powerful hardware?)

And finally, the game is launching as a single-player experience only. Online is being held back for later. After more than a decade, we’re still getting a staggered release of the full package.

I’m just not feeling the same hype I used to and frankly I can't imagine myself buying this game on release.

AITAH for telling my best friend to leave his current boyfriend?

My best friend (M27) has proposed to his boyfriend (M25) twice now.

The first time was two years into their relationship. He proposed at the top of Bridal Falls. His boyfriend said no because he wasn’t ready for a truly committed relationship yet. At the time they were in an open relationship and by “open,” I mean his boyfriend got to sleep with other people, but whenever my best friend made plans with anyone else, his boyfriend would throw a fit. My best friend accepted the rejection because his boyfriend was only 20.

They dated for another year before finally closing the relationship and becoming exclusive. There were issues around that, but they’re not relevant here. After they went exclusive, my best friend started thinking about proposing again. I actually encouraged him to wait at least a full year so he wouldn’t pressure his boyfriend too quickly. He waited two more years.

Three days ago they went on a trip to the Grand Canyon. They came home six days early. Last night my best friend asked me to meet him at a bar. I agreed due to my own insane week. He told me his boyfriend had said no again for the same reason. He still isn’t ready for that level of commitment.

I want to be very clear, I never said anything bad about his partner. I simply told my best friend that if his partner still isn’t ready after five years, he has to decide whether he wants to keep waiting in that relationship. He asked me, since I recently went through a divorce, what I would have done if my ex-wife had turned me down after five years. I told him I personally would have left, but that I’m not him and he has to do what’s best for himself.

He decided he didn’t want to go home. He came back to my place, got trashed, and crashed in my bed while I slept on the couch.

This morning at 5 AM his boyfriend knocked on my door. I told him my best friend was still sleeping but he was welcome to come in and wait. It started fine, I made coffee and offered to cook breakfast. Then he brought up the fact that my best friend had messaged him last night about our conversation. He called me a homewrecker. I didn’t rise to it because I already knew he wanted a screaming match. I calmly told him I only gave my opinion when asked, and that I would never insert myself into their relationship uninvited.

He then asked me what I think he should do. I told him honestly, he’s been with a man for five years who has given him space to explore, who accepted an open relationship, and who already accepted one refusal. He needs to decide whether this is the relationship he actually wants or whether he still wants to keep exploring.

He went quiet for a few tense moments, then admitted he was scared of commitment because he’s in love with someone else.

I had to bite my tongue hard. Hearing that pissed me off, but yelling would have only made everything worse. I cooked us both breakfast, fed him, and politely asked him to leave.

Then I broke my own rule. When my best friend woke up around noon, I made him coffee and told him straight that I think he should end the relationship. When he asked why, I didn’t explain. I just said I’d re-looked at the situation and that was now my advice.

So, AITAH for telling him to leave?

AITAH for telling my roommate’s new partner that she has STIs after he said he didn’t need a condom because she’s on the pill?

I (M27) have a roommate (F23). She has active gonorrhea and chlamydia. She told me this herself. She’s asymptomatic, so she doesn’t feel sick, but she is currently infected.

At first I assumed she was disclosing this to her partners. Then one of her boyfriends came over and complained that he caught an STI from her. I told her that was on him for not protecting himself, because obviously she would have warned him. She corrected me: she does not tell partners she has STIs unless they specifically ask. She also said she encourages condoms, but she’s on the pill so she doesn’t push hard if the guy doesn’t want one. I pointed out that the pill does nothing for STIs. She said she already knows that.

Last night she brought a new guy home. I’d never met him. We talked for a bit. He thought they were exclusive (I didn’t correct him on that). When the conversation turned to protection, I offered him a condom. He said he didn’t need one because she’s on the pill. I looked at him and told him the pill doesn’t prevent STIs. He said that to his knowledge she didn’t have any. I told him it never hurts to ask.

So he asked her. She admitted she has gonorrhea and chlamydia and is asymptomatic. He left.

She spent the next ten minutes yelling at me about how I ruined her night. I don’t feel bad about it but my own brother and his fiancée say it wasn't my place to say anything.

AITAH?

Update:

After everything went down, my brother and his fiancée (my other two roommates) initially took her side. They told me it wasn’t my place to intervene in her relationships and started talking about removing me from the lease. Then they asked her directly whether she tells her partners about the STIs. She said no. Both of them had been assuming she did.

Before the four of us even sat down to talk, she asked my brother to record the conversation so she could use it as evidence that I was creating a “hostile environment” and take it to the landlord. (My state is a one-party consent state, so the recording was legal.)

My brother looked at her and told her we were going to have to remove her from the lease instead. He pointed out that she was knowingly committing a crime inside the apartment, and our lease has a clause that says you can’t willingly commit a crime on the property. If she stayed, we could all get kicked out.

Our landlord has now served her with a notice to quit, giving her three days to leave or face formal eviction.

I also forwarded the recording to the partner she previously gave STIs to.
