Distant Relative Sponsoring My Studies in Austria — Is Proof of Relationship Needed?

My sponsor is my grandmother’s sister’s husband (so technically my great grand uncle, I think 😅). He’s Austrian and we already have the Declaration of Liability/Haftungserklärung, proof of income, and the other financial documents prepared.

I just wanted to ask if anyone here has experience with a distant relative sponsoring them. Since he’s not an immediate family member, do we also need to provide proof of relationship/family ties (like birth certificates or family tree documents)? Or is the Declaration of Liability already enough for the embassy/residence permit application?

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who went through a similar situation. Thanks!

My grandmother's name is wrongly spelled on my father's birth certificate. Is this a Potential problem with the Austrian Embassy when I applied for a residence permit?

Hello! For context: I’m currently in the process of gathering the necessary documents for my student residence permit application in Austria. The person sponsoring me is my grandmother’s sister’s Austrian husband, and I need to prove my relationship to him through the complete trail of birth certificates.

However, when I requested a copy of my father’s PSA birth certificate, I noticed that my grandmother’s name is misspelled there. I understand that my father’s birth certificate would normally need to undergo a correction process, but I’m running out of time. My classes are expected to start in September this year, and going through the correction process may cause significant delays.

I would like to ask if there is any quicker alternative. Is there perhaps another way to prove that the mother indicated on my father’s birth certificate. despite the misspelling, is indeed my grandmother?

Thank you very much! TT

Edit: If the only way out of this is to correct my grandmother's name, how long do you think will it take? My grandmother's name should be "Berebeda" but on my dad's birth certificate it's "Berida"
