This is my altar. Is there a wrong way to build an altar, or to practice? I think a spell I did today backfired but I am not sure why.

This is my altar. Is there a wrong way to build an altar, or to practice? I think a spell I did today backfired but I am not sure why.

Hello

First, please do not be too harsh. I am still rather new to witchcraft and honestly have been too shy/hesitant to post on forums like this.A big reason is because the one time I posted on a social media site asking for help/advice, I had a really negative experience that's made me avoid spaces like this.

I have been practicing for a few years now, since 2022. I wouldn't call myself traditional. I've tried a few different forms of magic as I tend to go from one thing to the other quickly. Candles, stones, deity work etc. I mainly give my devotion to Hecate, Morrighan, and Persephone- though I do worship others gods and goddesses. I do have Celtic ancestry if this matters at all.

I think I am what you'd probably call an 'eclectic' witch?

Unfortunately I have a very small house and my space for practice is limited. For ease of use, I have my altar on a wooden tray that I inherited from my great grandmother, passed down by my grandmother and given to me by my mother.

I completed a ritual of luck and prosperity this morning for my fiance to give him luck for an important presentation he had this morning. He is in his 2nd to last semesters for his master's degree and this presentation was an introduction to his thesis for his final year. He just texted me that he completely fumbled. When he got there he crumbled over his words, he had his presentation ready in his head but he couldn't get it out and that he missed so many parts. He wasn't nervous this morning and has a lot of experience presenting in front of crowds just fine. So this is unusual. I suspect that what I did may have backfired?

Now I know magic doesn't work exactly how you ask it to. I know theres a lot of complexities that go into it. I honestly wonder if maybe how I practice or more specifically if my set up may have affected the spell or altered the effect/reversed it?

I set up my altar with symbols of the gods I work with. I leave many offerings, trinkets, herbs, items I find, potions I make and candles. I use it when I burn herbs, smudge and when I make 'potions'. There are things like a rabbits foot, many different kinds of stones and gems, tarot cards, ritual bowl etc. the tray is for ease of use and keeping it all in one place as well as a way to honor the wonderful, powerful women who carried me into this life.

In case it may be the spell- it is one that I made utilizing herbs + candle/fire. I lit a green candle (light green apple in photo). I used mint, cloves, lavender, and cinnamon. I ground them together and used a bay leaf to write my intention and his name on it. I then burned it, prayed, bottled the herbs and sealed it with 3 colors. 1 his favorite color, and 2 shades of green for luck. I sealed the waxed cork with a pentacle on top. I ended my spell with so mote it be as I usually do.

Again I don't consider myself traditional/am still new and in many ways have been on my own journey. I have read some books but honestly not front to back. I do struggle with my ADHD and it does make it difficult to read them all the way through..some of my other knowledge has been through witches I trust on social media. And before you mention this, I have learned to be wary of info on social media for practicing because I am aware that it's not always legitimate or even correct information/advice.

I would appreciate some advice or thoughts/expertise from more experienced practitioners.

Sorry for typos I'm on my phone.

Please be gentle 🥺

What does 'nothing is changing with your career level or compensation. The change is based on re-leveling your role based on your teams title alignment' supposed to mean??

So we just got out of a mandatory, over the weekend scheduled, meeting entitled 'HR rollout announcement title alinment' with no other information.

Our whole team and the other team our supervisor oversees + our supervisor, and his supervisor (department head) and someone from hr was in attendance.

He didn't go through all the slides and basically had language like in my title..

The one slide i did get to see had the following:

"Will this title change result in a promotion or demotion or results in change in pay?

nothing is changing with your career level or compensation. The change is based on re-leveling your role based on your groups title alignment'

' will the title be seen by others

Your title is an internal company title. It could impact your business card and email signatures'

'wht is my job title changing? Am I getting demoted/promoted?

Your system job title is getting realigned to your role because it may have been incorrect or out of date (what?? It's the same title everyone uses in our position across this company)

As this is an administrative change that may also have impact on ways of working, it will not affect how, when or who you work with or report to, and is not a demotion or promotion'

I have no idea what to make of this.. our department supervisor lead the meeting and he basically in informal terms said this is a change thats going to happen..nothing else is changing but the name..were just changing the title.

It kinda sounds weird in how they've worded this because they couldn't just said 'hey were changing the name of your job, nothing else changes' in just an email. But they made it a whole thing and answered the same question twice on the slide.

Should I be worried? Does this sound as if they're setting up for cuts?

I work for a large international company and I am in commercial insurance (selling insurance to companies as opposed to individual people)

Our team is a specialty/niche team and has some of the highest numbers in the nation within our company- which is often boasted by our management. We are actually currently hiring for my team.. I guess I am just very worried about job security now and this meeting was SUS. It was last minute planned- it wasn't on our calendar on Friday and felt very last minute put together. Like I said, the person leading the meeting said they weren't going to go through all the slides...

Then said if you have questions, defer to your supervisor.

Our supervisor is amazing and has gone to bat for us, but I know there's things he can't say or do and that there is a line. I'm just trying to figure out if I need to spruce up my resume? Or if I'm getting anxiety for no reason.

Thoughts?

Edit sorry for typos, wrote this on my phone.

Edit 2: hmm from what my supervisor says, it sounds like they're adding tiers to our roles. Which sounds like a demotion or promotion. But they're saying on paper that it's 'not'

What can I do to protect myself and my compensation?

When do the tantrums start? Will it start? How to discourage them? How do you manage with your husky?

This is Fae, short for Faerie because she is both a whimsical princess😇👸 and a fucking goblin. 👺

We rescued her in August 2025. The vet estimated her to be about a year old then w/ birthday around July 2025. Found out later after finding her sister/litermate through DNA testing that the vet was only a few months off and that she was born December 2024. So we've had her for nearly almost a year now and she'll be 2 in december.

According to her DNA test, she is 50% Siberian husky exactly, split riiiiiight down the middle. With her husky parent being a full bred husky and her other parent being a black lab.

And it does show. A majority of her behaviors that I thought were likely due to potentially growing up with a cat was actually just her husky side ✨

Funnily enough, I worked as a dog groomer for a few years before the pandemic hit and honestly I said I'd never get a husky because of my experience with grooming them being so.... Dramatic✨👺60% of the time. They were either angels or demons and no in-between 😂 I say this LOVINGLY. They are all good boys and girls, ofc ofc.

While my fiance and I have both had dogs before, she is the first husky both of us have ever had and we honestly haven't known what exactly to expect.

Okay so that's the backstory.

Why I am here:

So we have had her around 9-10 months now. In the first 3 months, she did come out of her shell. She's very independent as a dog. But I can tell that it's taken her longer than 3 months to really settle in. In the last few weeks she has begun doing more loud behaviors..

She has been an extremely quiet dog for a majority of having her, which has been a dream compared to our late baby girl- a German shepherd whose females are known for whining.

Lately, the last three weeks, she has begun doing that odd half bark half mewling sound that huskys are known to make. Like between a whine and a bark- that 'rhaaaroooow' sound that is short and quick. She does it only once but it has been to give me attitude✨ like 'hey mom I'm here' or when she is trying to get my attention while I'm working (I work from home).

I have been doing my best to ignore this when it happens so she does not learn that doing it gets my attention, and then I give her attention when she is quiet instead. But it hasnt stopped.

She has even done this when wanting a treat from me like a bully stick or even to go on walkies/to the dog park (her fav place)

I think she's becoming very attached or more comfortable now and that side of her is coming out more and more.

They're happening more frequently and to be honest, I'm really worried about it. I have some sensory issues that I deal with and very shape loud noises for extended periods of time is like.. nails on a chalkboard levels of uncomfortable. Videos of huskys going on for 15 minutes or more is a nightmare situation.

I only ever owned German shepherds before Fae. Low pitched whining that my old gsd did was okay, but the high pitched husky 'bark' and howling does trigger this.

I love her so much, and I will never get rid of her. She is such a beautiful adorable goofball and I wouldn't trade her for the world. That's not ever going to be in question for me even if she starts with tantrums. I'll wear ear plugs if I have to. I'm just hoping to avoid that.

How do you manage your huskys 'tantrums'/ high pitched husky barks? Are they as frequent as the internet plays them out to be? What's the best way to discourage the behavior? We trained her mostly through positive reinforcement and she has completed her beginner and intermediate training courses.

Hey recently submitted this for a contest elsewhere as a design for a video game. I was honestly really proud of this but I had issues finding a color that would serve as highlights because the furr coat is a very very light pink. I wasn't sure how else I could blend the spots too.

I personally really love the cute little hoof, that's my proudest moment on this piece.

I think I'm just looking for ways to improve in general from more experienced artists. I struggled with the wings. I didn't want to go too detailed for style.

What could I have done better for the highlights? I'm also working on ambient lighting in my work.

Posting from phone sorry for typos.

Drew this in procreate.

This is for a contest entry for a pocket monster like game. Im entering just for fun but i cannot make a decision spinal fin. The fin was part of the original design. My thought was the ferret could do a rolling attack that poisons. But idk i kinda like it without the fins too. Im just not sure if I should include them or not. Do you have any thoughts or suggestions?

When I moved a few years ago, I realized I couldn't find my apple snake mcr hoodie. It was my safe place growing up. I'd had it since I was like 10. I'm 31 now. I thought it must just be somewhere in my winter clothes as I live in a hot climate but I realized that it is not among my clothing anymore this weekend.

I texted my mom asking if she had seen it as it wasn't in my things. She texted back and said she threw it away because the sleeves had holes in it and it was old.... The only holes in it were the two I had cut at the end for my thumbs. It was a 3xL or 4xl and I loved that it was oversized. Again it was like a safety blanket, safe space. I grew up with an abusive father and did self harm as a child- that hoodie kept me safe. Like I cannot describe the attachment I had to it. I can't believe I didn't realize it was gone sooner.

I have been trying to find anything for the past hour and many or the posts online are saying it's rare now?

Is there anyway anyone knows how I could acquire a hoodie of the same size now that are zip up? Does anyone know a place I might be able to check out to find it or post about?

I'm honestly so devastated and I couldn't find any official merch hoodies with zip ups that look similar. I'll attach a photo of what it looked like- I found the photo online.

Hi, so I am drawing a character I made and there are there specific elements I’m struggling with.

  1. The jewelry and metal accessories. This character is decked out in jewelry and belts… I am struggling with shading it. Does anyone have any suggestions? Color? The palette I found isn’t helping much. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. Wondering if maybe it’s the texture I need?

  2. The horns - I love how they look. I have no idea how to enhance them beyond the black. All the horns are right now is my line art layer…I love the sleek black smooth look.

  3. Composition. Making the colors all blend well and feel cohesive is what I’m struggling with rn. I think I’ve done okay so far but idk it feels like it’s missing a step? Any thoughts? Color theory and harmony is my weakest link
