I’m working on a trip-hop album with a cyberpunk concept, and I’ve been experimenting with different elements. The other tracks have turned out pretty well, but I feel a bit stuck on this one.

For now, I’m thinking of adding a few more drum samples and playing around with the dynamics, but I can’t really think of what other instruments or sounds I should layer on top.

I’m especially stuck on the progression/arrangement. There’s a section in the middle where I basically just filled the space with noise because I couldn’t think of how to develop the track from there. It kind of feels like a placeholder right now.

Now it's really down to the final steps (mixing and vocals).

I'm happy that the project ended up going beyond my original goal of 40 minutes and 12 tracks. I think this is the first time I've made something large enough to truly be called an album rather than a mixtape.

(*I used a translator because I'm not good at English to write very long sentences. idk why reason that i can read but i can't write.)

Progress has been slow since I've mostly been working on it after my day job, but I think it's about 30% done now.

I also picked up a new mic to replace my phone's microphone, and the SM58 has actually been great for recording at home.

After finishing the two newest tracks (Demo 4 and Demo 5), I feel like the album finally has a clear direction. It might end up sounding more like psychedelic dream pop than hip-hop, though. I think a trip-hop style rap vocal would fit it really well, but I keep slipping into this slow, drawn-out delivery. I also have to write lyrics (for now, I've just been mumbling made-up lyrics or using Massive Attack's lyrics), but it's such a boring. Anyway, I'm pretty happy with how it's coming along.
