Crimson Hussars - Batch 1

I just finished painting my first batch of Crimson Hussars miniatures, a line of miniatures by Bullet Basilica meant to proxy for Trench Pilgrims and/or the Iron Sultanate in Trench Crusade.

I actually won a creative contest they hosted and won all the miniatures printed in resin as a prize. The quality is as good as I could have hoped for.

I still have a couple dozen more from this line to paint, but I wanted to paint these to test out my paint scheme. I haven't had much luck with oil washes, so I decided to use all acrylics this time. I painted, washed, and matte varnished all the flat colors first, then I painted and selectively washed the metallics. I really like the contrast in finish on the metalics. I can't wait to paint the rest of them.

Looking for an OSR style RPG for a magical post-apocalyptic America campaign

I've been reading through a bunch of RPG blogs lately, and I found a series of posts on the blog, "The Nothic's Eye," about a campaign setting called "Invisible Hands," an absurd, satirical, post-apocalyptic United States wherein various aspects of our culture have turned into new gods that corrupt people and turn them into monsters.

https://nothicseye.blogspot.com/2026/04/in-economy-we-trust-some-notes-on-usa.html?m=1

I found it really inspiring, but I'm having a hard time deciding on a system to run it in.

I believe it was made with GLOG in mind, but I don't really like some of the changes in GLOG, or how "spread out" it is. I'd rather have something compiled into a single book that I wouldn't need to hack very much.

I initially thought Worlds Without Number or Ashes Without Number, but they're both a bit more complicated than I like. WWN has some idiosyncrasies of its setting in the mechanics that I don't like, and magic doesn't seem to fit well with AWN.

Here's what I'm looking for, in summary:

  1. OSR style, with the 6 attributes, class levels, hit dice, and the rest that makes it broadly compatible with old school materials.

  2. Not too complicated/easy to hack. A little less complicated than WWN, preferably.

  3. Intended for post-apocalyptic settings. I don't want to have to decide how to figure out guns and technology.

  4. Rules for Stress and Mutations would be nice.

  5. A few simple, broad classes, like fighter, mage, expert, with multi-classing.

  6. Classic Vancian magic.

Thanks in advance.

Saurian Starhost Army

I just completed the Saurian Starhost army from the One Page Rules: Broken Truth two-player box set that I got from Gamefound.

This one was pretty interesting, in that there is no direct analog between Saurian Starhost and any 40k army. I tried out a new technique for shading white armor by mixing Army Painter Holy White Speedpaint in a 1:1 ratio with speedpaint medium and adding a bit of flow improver to essentially make a very light gray wash. I especially like how the frog mage came out. I made the base such that it looks like the grass underneath the platform is catching on fire from the plasma jets, which I think is pretty neat.

That does it for my Broken Truth box. On the next thing.

PIGGIES - 50 point Thornfall Alliance warband

Look at these adorable piggertons! I have no idea if this is a good list, but piggies were the reason I got back on the Warmachine 3D Tribe. All these were FDM printed on my Bambu Lab A1. The units are:

  • Dr. Arkadius
  • Gun Board
  • Splatter Boar
  • War Hog
  • Targ
  • Farrow Bone Grinders
  • Farrow Brigands
  • Farrow Brigand Warlord
  • Farrow Commandos

Grimdark Future: Broken Truth - Robot Legions army finished

I finished my Robot Legions army from the Grimdark Future: Broken Truth starter box. This paint scheme was inspired by the Thokt dynasty of Necrons, and is also the first time I've ever used flocking on bases. The flocking consists of actual dirt mixed with Mod Podge covered in a mix of green and yellow painted sawdust. There are also 3D printed base toppers from Tradhead Rad's Supermassive Space Dwarves line.

The Saurian Starhost army is a work in progress.

I just got done painting these adorable piggertons from the Warmachine Tribe on Myminifactory.com. We have here a squad of five farrow brigands and one bonegrinder. The bonegrinder is supposed to be in a squad of three, but the other two didn't print well, so I'll have to make those later. I'm struggling with my OPR Broken Truth minis, so I wanted a little pallette cleanser.

Freaking love pigs. There will definitely be more.
