My son's lunch

My son's lunch

Collard greens, kale, hearts of romaine, one cucumber, and timothy hay pellets. I throw it around his yard to encourage more foraging behavior.

▲ 2 r/zoloft

So Ive been taking sertraline (zoloft) for more than half my life, and Ive been at 250mg for over a decade (before that I was at 300mg). This is to treat my severe anxiety and moderate depression. I moved and needed to get a new psychiatrist, and she is very unhappy I am taking such a high dose. No one told me 250mg was considered a high dose, especially since I used to take 300mg. She said she's worried about me getting Steven Johnson syndrome, and the only way she'd renew my prescription was to give verbal consent that I understood the risks, etc.

I agreed so I could get my prescription since I was almost out, but I don't think I do understand. From what Ive read, Steven Johnson syndrome is pretty rare and more so from sertraline, but my new psychiatrist called it a deadly dosage, and now Im concerned.

My last psychiatrist (that I had for half of my life), never told me any of this. Im not sure what to do. I have finally become stable enough to hold down a job, get a driver's license, and actually have a (small) social life. While a lot of it was therapy and working hard, my meds are what I believe are keeping everything afloat, and I dont want to fuck it all up.

Thoughts? Should I be worried about Steven Johnson syndrome? Is my dose really all that high?

My father is a huge sci-fi nerd, and often the gifts I give him are related to that in some way. For christmas 2 years ago, I got him an autographed copy of his favorite book by his favorite author. Since then, nothing has compared. It doesnt help my Dad doesnt seem to really like much else.

No favorite food, color, tv show, music, etc. Ive asked him a million times. I do know he likes:

Doctor Who

Star Trek

Heinlein

Marvel

But over the past years, he's stopped being as interested in those, and mostly just watches Tiktoks and plays games on his phone. It's actually pretty hard to have a conversation with him because more often than not he has his ear buds in and doesnt hear us.

I want to get him something for father's day/his birthday (close together so we celebrate them the same) that isnt really about his phone. Something to get him off of it and to engage with us would be great. Any ideas? I wanted to take him indoor skydiving (which he has expressed he wants to do), but my mother vetoed it as he recently had knee surgery.

Ideas?
