NSV: I went on a walk and…

NSV: I went on a walk and…

…didn’t nearly die from breathlessness and a racing heart beat of over 140 bpm!

Last April we went to visit friends for Easter. We had a meal out in their local pub less than a mile (0.7 mile) down the road, flat surface all the way. We walked there no problem, but the way back I had to stop twice to catch my breath and slow my heart down to normal levels. This was my wake up call to find out more about Mounjaro.

We’re visiting these friends again. This morning we went walking and I walked on a 149 ft incline for nearly a mile without having to catch my breath once, carrying on whilst holding a conversation. I had a rest at the top, but I wasn’t out of breath, I could still hold a conversation with ease and then walked back down, again totally fine.
I’m totally amazed that this is only 2 months in on MJ and down just under 5kg / 11lbs.

Oh and the other thing was that my size 26 shorts that I bought last year because I couldn’t fit in my 24s anymore, were falling down, especially with my phone in my pocket, guess I can resell them on Vinted now and dig my size 24s out for the remainder of summer…

Use of certain words are getting filtered and deleted by bots!

As a mod I’ve noticed posts and comments getting flagged by Reddit and it’s happening more frequently. Just be mindful when you discuss things like Tommy’s crimes that you may have to use words in disguise, like ‘grape’ or you risk that your post or comment could get deleted by the bots. In some cases we can reverse the action, but sometimes we can’t restore and approve the comment or post.

Any knitters here?

I’m at a conundrum, I started knitting a short sleeved top before summer and got about two repeats in and left it for a while. Having picked it up again yesterday it dawned on me that by the time I’ve finished it, it’ll be either winter or next spring and I will hopefully have lost quite a bit of weight… so I may not need a 5XL/6XL… so what to do?
Finish it and accept I’ll be wearing an oversized top?
Frog it and start again on a smaller size?

I went on holiday with my pen…

… and came home having lost 0.5 kg / 1.1 lbs!!

Yes I carried on taking the meds whilst on holiday, still stayed on 2.5mg.
I used an insulin thermos with refrigerating capacity to take the pen with me. We went to the Netherlands by ferry 10 days ago, came back home a few days and went out by Eurostar to Paris last Thursday.

Before we left I wrote to my provider and they sent me a letter saying that I am taking the medication on prescription and that I’m allowed to travel with the medication and appropriate sharps in my hand luggage! The thermos has to go through the security scanners outside of your regular luggage.

I was somewhat mindful in my food choices, but I also didn’t restrict myself and joined in with everyone else. I did find that my mind hasn’t caught up with my body, so I still shoved too much food on my plate on occasion, but also stopped when I felt full and didn’t finish what was on my plate. I still don’t like to be wasteful with food, so this is one area that I have to learn to adjust.

Foods I ate during my stays abroad included white bread, Dutch deep fried ‘frikandel’, chips, risotto with mushrooms and truffle oil, croissants, pain-au-chocolat, scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, french cheeses, Dutch cheeses, Subway chicken Caesar wrap, crêpes with Nutella, snails in garlic butter, seafood platter in a restaurant, crêpes Suzette, birthday cakes, party food…

…and I still lost weight! I fully expected to have gained weight.

Not everyone is the same

Remember, how you personally respond is not universal!
Someone else’s experience on the same medication is not predictive of yours.
You may not experience the extreme side effects that get reported in the media, most people don’t.

Holiday vibes and mindset

I’m 8 weeks in, still on 2.5mg, and obviously still learning to adjust to new eating patterns.

We’re on holiday, last week I figured out that I can still enjoy all the good food that is in abundance in my country of birth. The bread with cheese and cold meats in abundance, deep fried snacks with frites, the liquorice sweets, etc. I also found out it’s near on impossible to track everything you eat abroad, because, well, the nutritional values aren’t on the apps! Lots of adding on foreign foods and using British equivalents.

Yesterday I found out that eating at a restaurant, plates served are larger portions than I can manage. I could not finish my lunch of mushroom risotto, which, compared to the plates my family had was a relatively small portion. Such a shame as it was delicious. In the end I picked all the mushrooms out of the rice and left half the rice on my plate.

Today I found out that my brain or usual holiday mindset hasn’t quite caught up with my body. New hotel with breakfast buffet and I went in with my old mindset; go for a for a croissant and pain-au-chocolat for starters, thinking I’ll go for the cooked food from the buffet after. The French croissant was great, but half way through the pain-au-chocolat I realised I was full. Uh-oh! No room for eggs, salmon, or fruit! Next time I’ll have to go for the eggs, fruit and veggies first, no more carbie starters for breakfast!

I’m moving up to 5mg on Sunday, simply because I ran out of my 2.5mg and already bought the 5mg pens and although I’m obviously still experiencing suppression, in that my stomach just doesn’t cope with the usual amounts of food in regular portions, I’m also clearly thinking I need more food than I can stomach (I know that is not food noise, I don’t intrusively think about food all the time, it’s more a case of not knowing my limits in advance) and my weight loss is yo-yoing around the same weight and has done so for a few weeks now. At 8 weeks in I’ve lost just under 4 kgs.

Should I take 3.75mg from 2.5mg pen to stretch over holiday?

UPDATE:

Took the 2.5mg and will take every 5 days for next 3 weeks. Ordered 2 new 5mg pens from Lotus which came to £150 each with discount. Thank my husband for seeing the benefit of doing this now and agreeing to pay for it. Bought myself a USB travel fridge / pen cooler so I can safely take the 2.5mg pen and syringe for 5th dose on holiday without running a risk of it getting too hot and not have a fridge / minibar or access to a freezer to freeze carrier pods. I think I’m all set for next few months now, even if we decide to travel some more in August.

Thank you all for your kind advice and recommendations as usual!!

TL;DR: I think I’ve stalled, have a 2.5mg pen with 4/5 doses, should I titrate up by taking 3.75mg?

I know that the answer will be to go up when stalling weight loss and eating becomes easier, especially as I’m only on 2.5mg still, but what do I do? I want to make sure I use my pen wisely and in line with when I need to order the next pen in 3 weeks time, bearing in mind that I will be on holiday in 3 weeks time and need to stretch this pen until 12th July!! I’m back on the 15th of July.

Long Version:
So I’ve just rounded up Week 5 after taking the 5th dose of 2.5mg last week, I have a new 2.5mg pen as I was concerned that I would continue to have constipation and Lloyds Pharmacy was barely allowing me to order a new pen because of tummy pain. I had to promise that I would go seek medical attention if the pain didn’t go away. They made more of a big deal of my tummy ache than I was, I said it’s probably because of the constipation. They agreed to me having another 2.5mg pen, I moved through the constipation, know how to treat it best for me, and took the 5th dose last Sunday.

This week I’ve been eating over my calorie deficit more, not needed the food drinks as much, and yesterday I weighed myself and stayed the same as last week. I actually fancied fish & chips yesterday and had a small portion, ate the white fish, not the batter, and a few bites of chips, couldn’t manage a small chip shop serving, so there’s still some delayed stomach emptying or suppression there. I did have some bowel movement after weighing myself and this morning I was 0.3kg down on yesterday, so 0.66 lbs loss. In previous weeks I had lost at least 1-2 lbs a week by Thursday or Friday.

I’m now at total 3.4 kg / 7.5 lbs in 5 weeks, so I think it’s time to move up, but do I take 3.75mg from the 2.5mg pen to stretch and will it stretch over 4 doses with the 5th dose? Can I order my 5mg pen early? If so, do I take 2.5mg today, then 5mg from the 2.5mg pen over the next 2 weeks and then start the 5mg pen on 12 July?

I kicked Needle Phobia’s butt!

Yeehaw!! Yes! I did it.
I’m so proud of myself for not chickening out!
I have serious needle phobia and in the past have been known to nearly pass out. Not today! For one moment I considered not using the insulin syringe and try to break the plunger block on the pen, but I said to myself: “don’t be a wimp!” And I used the insulin syringe. Phew! 😰

Also I wish I knew before how easy it is to inject into my tummy, I was told by a friend the thigh was the easiest. And yes, the thigh was okay, but I get bruised and there’s always a drop of blood… none with the much longer insulin needle in my tummy and I didn’t feel a thing!

I did have to do a bit of a search in the #5thdose thread for a 5th Dose How To, so I found this post from nearly a year ago and these steps were really helpful, so I thought I’d link it here in case others need it. #5thdosehowto
https://www.reddit.com/r/mounjarouk/s/eA8yqwuTpS

I know I’ve done it right because the metallic taste is back, just minutes after injecting. Strange it wasn’t there last week.

UK Serious Fraud Director speaks at Global Anti-Corruption Ethics and Compliance Conference

I’m sharing this as a Call To Action for people to write in to the SFO in the U.K. about MLMs and how they affect people across the world. Mostly because this conference was held very recently and there seems to still be a lack of action from all governments to protect the public from these fraudulent racketeering organisations.

>> Speaking in New York at the Global Anti-Corruption, Ethics and Compliance Conference on 3 June 2026, Director of the Serious Fraud Office Graham McNulty set out the organisation’s priorities and ambitions.

>> “I cannot name them all but my particular thanks go to the FBI, Homeland Security, the DEA and of course the Department of Justice.
Our nations on either side of the Atlantic have benefited from these shared endeavours to keep people safe, seize weapons, drugs and cash, and put behind bars those who would bring chaos and misery to our neighbourhoods.”

>> “When I led the Serious and Organised Crime Command as a police officer, we never waited for referrals. We built intelligence, using both technology and human intelligence sources to identify the threats and tackle them.
Proactivity makes it possible to intervene as crimes are occurring, protect potential victims and prevent the dissipation of assets. While we will always welcome referrals, we are building a pipeline of work that will make us less dependent on them.”

I’ll let you read the full article linked and then you can decide for yourselves what sections to pick out, but this fairly new interim Director of the Serious Fraud Office comes from the Serious and Organised Crime Command, he ought to be able to recognise organised crime in MLMs and he ought to be able to see the fraud and deception that goes on. They just need to be tipped off enough by victims to actually take a look at these rackets.

Commonalities with other online grifters

People ought to watch this video by Savannah Marie about Kelsey Rhae, a well known MLM grifter and her now husband. The similarities with Reese and Tommy are remarkable, shilling for a cult, tracking back on her content, targeting people’s weaknesses, for her its weight loss, for her husband it was fitness and nutrition, but now also addiction counselling and of course finding God…
Ya know, it’s like there’s a playbook, a script, for all these grifters. Oh yes, that’s right, Tommy said that it was all scripted..!!

Coercive Control expert Chris Shelton discusses Cults & MLMs

Chris Shelton is a Former Scientologist, he got his MSc in Psychology of Coercive Control at the University of Salford (UK) and helps people who are leaving cults and other coercive control groups, like MLMs.

Scientology has an MLM element too, that’s how Grant Cardone makes some of his money and pays hundreds of thousands if not millions to Scientology, he recruits people into Scientology and gets 10% commission on anything his recruits spend in Scientology.

In this video Chris discusses the prison of beliefs in cults and MLMs and his family’s experience in Amway and how people in cults also get embroiled in MLMs. Very interesting watch.

**The “reform” doesn’t survive contact with the Stefani case — and that’s a reflection of the whole problem**

I want to start by granting the most generous version of Nora’s situation, because I think it matters and because the critique only works if it’s fair.

Almost everyone who leaves a high-control or faction environment goes through an ugly transitional phase. Lashing out at former allies, the disorientation, the misplaced anger — for a lot of people that’s part of how the disillusionment actually gets processed. If that were what we were watching with Nora, the right response would be patience, not a post. So I’m not arguing she’s incapable of change, or that no one who behaved as she did could ever genuinely reform.

I’m arguing something narrower: this presentation of reform fails its own test. And you don’t have to take my read of her sincerity to see it. You just have to line up what she’s done.

The asymmetry that started bugging me

Nora talks endlessly about Aaron — his behavior, his crimes. But look at how she handles Mike Rinder by comparison. Rinder spent decades inside a coercive institution, left at enormous personal cost, gave the FBI his testimony, co-created Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath — one of the most impactful public exposés the subject has ever gotten, and a national platform for ex-members to be heard. He worked with the Aftermath Foundation, held down a real post-cult job, raised a family, and ultimately died of cancer — the same cancer Nora helped Aaron suggest was fake while she maligned him over a personal conflict. She still maligns him today.

Meanwhile her own mother’s Guardian’s Office history goes completely untouched. That’s not a small omission. The GO wasn’t a passive bureaucracy — it ran Operation Snow White, the largest domestic infiltration of the U.S. government in history. Members were convicted and imprisoned. The GO was the direct institutional ancestor of OSA. If Nora’s mother had meaningful involvement, that’s primary-source material about one of the most documented criminal operations a “church” has ever run — and she has the platform and the communication skills to do something real with it. She doesn’t. The grievance content gets the airtime; the actual history that would require self-examination doesn’t.

Switching sides isn’t the same as changing

Here’s where the reform claim really runs into trouble. For years Nora supported and participated in the campaigns to destroy Aaron’s critics, and was openly supportive of Marilyn’s conduct too. Now that she’s on the other side of the fence, she’s running tirades against those same former allies — in ways that are arguably pettier and more personal than before.

If she’d broken with Aaron and changed— pulled back from the pile-ons, examined her own role, extended former targets the grace she once denied them — that’s a redemption arc, and people would respect it. But the targets rotated and the tactics didn’t. The same appetite for personal destruction, just aimed somewhere new. That tells you the destruction was the point, not the cause it was supposedly serving. The zeal is portable; only the object changed.

The Stefani case is the receipt

She claims she’s reformed. She says she’s apologized. But there’s no standalone apology — no naming of the specific harm, no ownership without a reframe, no meaningful contrition, and no change in the overall behavior. A real apology subtracts a justification. Hers adds one every time. If you can’t quote it without quoting the “but” attached to it, it isn’t an apology — it’s image control.

Stefani is what proves it. Stefani exposed Aaron through careful, written, thought-out blog posts — the least impulsive, most accountable form the criticism could possibly have taken. There’s a permanent record of exactly what she said. And Nora still justifies lashing out at her for it.

Think about what that means. If Nora had actually reflected, Stefani would be the first person she owed an unqualified apology to, because Stefani is the clearest case of Nora attacking a legitimate critic for doing legitimate work — early, in writing, while Nora was still on the wrong side of it. Instead Stefani is still a target. That’s the control group. It’s the one variable that stayed constant while everything else flipped, and it isolates what the “reform” actually reached: not the behavior, just the team.

Nora isn’t sorry she attacked critics. At most she’s sorry about which side she was on while doing it.

You don’t need to decide whether you like her to follow that. Just run the timeline: Stefani was right, in writing, early. Nora attacked her for it then — and defends that attack now. Reform that leaves your treatment of your most clearly-vindicated critic untouched isn’t reform. It’s repositioning.

Experience with ‘health programmes’ at fitness centre.

I’ve just had a ‘Health MOT’ at Nuffield Health in preparation for a Pain Rehabilitation programme and I feel soooo down and upset after this experience.
I just don’t know if I even want to go on the programme.

She started lecturing me about healthy eating and I should come to her as she has successfully helped people lose weight… without GLP-1, I won’t need the Mounjaro if I go on her plan. I said no thanks, I’m good, I’ve got my pre-diabetes coach and my NutraCheck tracker and a supportive group (you guys) to help me with that. She insisted that she could do better. I challenged her and said; aside from healthy eating what can you do?
I said I am tracking my food, I know where I can do better, but overall I’m not eating enough, so what’s your advice?

She looked at my food diary and told me I shouldn’t be eating bananas because they’re bad for blood pressure! (eh!? What!?)
As some of you here know, my one side effect is constipation, so I have protein shakes and protein bars when I can’t get a full meal in, she said I should not eat them as they have too much sugar in them (I checked the protein bar in question, 1.1 gram of sugar in a 45 g bar, flagged up as low sugar on my tracker).
I had 1 custard cream biscuit in the whole 3 weeks and she says; you shouldn’t be eating custard creams. I said; why not? Surely I can have a biscuit now and then? At least I’m not bingeing the whole packet as I did before.

She weighed me; I was 4kgs (nearly 9lbs) heavier than I am on my scales at home this morning!! 4kgs - that’s not even how much my clothes weigh. I questioned it and she said “oh all scales are different, my scales are medical scales, they’re accurate.” Like twisting the knife in!!

She took my BP; it was through the roof, after she got me riled up about the diet recommendations. Way higher than when I took my BP at home before I left for the appointment and my husband was saying I was a jammy so-and-so for having BP nearly in normal range (we both take BP meds), her reading was a Red Flag and I have to go see my GP as it’s a risk factor.

Then she did a skin prick blood test for HbA1c and it was 45… she said that’s way too high, so another Red Flag I need to talk to my GP about. My GP will probably be pleased to find out my HbA1c has gone down!!

I said to her, yes we know my BP is high, that’s why I’m on 10mg Ramipril and I know my HbA1c is high, that’s why I’m on the pre-diabetes programme. My GP is aware, that’s why he’s treating me for those.
I’ve come here to get pain rehabilitation, to get back into exercise whilst navigating pain.

She asked me if I could walk and I said yes, I said I can do any exercise, the problem is I just struggle with being in pain after I do exercise and then can’t function the next day. This is why I don’t exercise, because I’m in pain 24/7 as it is and I can ‘manage my pain as it is’ to the extend that I can function daily, if I start doing more exercise I increase my pain and can’t function, that’s why I’m here to learn to navigate this.

She then said I just have to push through it. Start with a 10 minute walk every day for a week and then 11 minutes next week, 12 minutes every day the week after… to me that doesn’t sound like someone who is considerate of someone who experiences pain 24/7…

To me the whole experience seemed off, am I being unreasonable about my expectations or is she pushing me into a drill sergeant style bootcamp that’s going to make me feel worse?

Marisa gets a free vacation

I don’t watch Brett Miller, aka Tommy Scoville, but I do know that when they “moved” to Ecuador, they supposedly bought this penthouse in the Portofino building. Johnny/Kurt points to it and Brett says they have closed on the sale. They both said they bought it even though it is a furnished rental property. In the listing, you can see the same furniture in the background of Brett’s videos. It was listed before, after, and during their stay there.

Now, Brett says he lives in the San Lorenzo part of Salinas which is not the same area as that first place. And his background has obviously changed. And so this is all happening within, what, ten months or so? They didn't buy a penthouse. They are liars.

What makes me curious, is why are Brett and Marisa staying at the Palmira Inn hotel? They are both nice and tan and dressed to go out and tourist around. How and why is Brett staying in a hotel, away from home, if he is so damn sick that he can’t breathe or walk. How and why is Brett Miller staying in a hotel with Marisa when he supposedly has pneumonia and a torn intercostal muscle. Why wouldn’t his “wife” be staying in his penthouse taking care of him? Oh, and he can't walk more that a few feet? And why does Marissa widen her eyes and shake him off when he approaches the camera?

Are you subs that stupid? Or are you really just that desperate to belong, that you’re willing to believe the two most idiotic conmen around? You're sending well wishes and prayers to these people while they laugh at you when the camera isn't rolling.

Are you giving them money because you actually believe Marisa picked up and flew to Ecuador out of fear and worry for Brett Miller? Is that why you're giving money for medicine and travel expenses? Or are those people just plants, giving superchats in hopes of "priming" the tip jar?

If you are just there for the drama, then have at it. Wouldn't you be ok with Marisa just going on a trip? Here's the thing though - this is where the grift and sad fishing come in. They come up with a dramatic story to evoke sympathy and financial support from these dummies. Sorry to be harsh, but you're either incredibly gullible or part of the problem.

Live and let live. If Marisa wants to lie her way through life that's her business. If she want's to be a C- youtube star that's fine too. But taking advantage of people isn't okay.

Omg people. He doesn't look any different than normal. He doesn't sound sick. She's got fun outfits picked out. THEY ARE ON VACATION ON YOUR DIME.

End of Week 1 check in

After struggling with constipation all week and tweaking my fibre intake, I lost a measly 1 kg, 2.2lbs.

😭 **sad** 😞

Yeah okay it’s a loss, but I can’t help but be disappointed.
I’m sure the constipation doesn’t help, despite having some bowel movements, I’m probably still holding on to food backed up in my system. I’m going to have to really work at getting my body to release food, I can’t stuff more food into my body, I eat, but it’s a struggle.
I can’t manage to drink more, I’m already at 2.5 to 3 litres a day and it’s a struggle to drink it all during a day.

I’ve asked the questions on this forum yesterday and I’m taking the psyllium husk and was already on magnesium supplements, so now it’s just waiting for the fibre to do its work and get my bowels moving.

Here’s hoping next week will be better.

Edit to add:
Just to clarify, I don’t weigh myself daily, some of the weight gets pulled in from my Apple apps. This is why those show (and they’re not even correct).
Tuesday 12 May was before I decided to start MJ, when I ordered the meds, Thursday 21 May is my pre-diabetes group weigh in, my first since starting the MJ. Sunday 24 May is this morning.

The Goal on the image is a mini target not my final goal. That’d be around 70kg. I have a long way to go beyond August and setting mini targets along the way is helping me manage psychologically.

Also to add; I’m used to losing about 7lbs on a first week, that is normal weight loss as most of it will be fluids, so a 2.2lbs loss is disappointing.

Loss of appetite completely?

Hi MJ hive! Can I pick your brains please?
Did you ever get to the point you didn’t want to eat at all on the jab?
I started last Sunday, so tomorrow is jab day.
I know I’ve posted before about not eating enough before starting MJ, but now am at a point where I’m feeling like I’m force feeding myself.

I’ve been constipated until Wednesday, but still feeling like a belt around my stomach that is being squeezed. From
Monday I’ve been watching my fibre intake and struggle to increase it. I’ve since started taking the remedies, I had some FyboGel but I seem to have no luck shifting this. Bought some Movicol, but not started that yet.
I just made myself a salad for lunch and can’t face eating it… I’m picking away at it to eat at least something. It’s really weird as I was making the salad I felt like eating it and then I sat down to eat it and all my appetite was gone.
