Recommendations for Reminder addon

Hey all,

Im looking for a new reminder addon that can be set for specific dates and times, specifically, to remind me to do holiday daily queueable fights during midsummer, Love is in the Air, Hallows End, and things like when Dunegorger Kraulok is up. I wouldnt mind if it also reminded me to swap talents between raid and keys, but thats less important than the other stuff.

If you feel so inclined I would be glad to hear "I used this until I switched to that because..." pros and cons, etc.

Thanks in advance.

The Abundance System is a direct contradiction Blizzard's stated intent

Over the past few months, as Ive spent three hours a week in abundance, running in circles, Ive found myself looking forward to the day that I don’t have to do so anymore. I cant help but feel like Im being punished. I read through forums and chat with other players and the sentiment seems to be the same across the board. At launch, abundance was a fun little thing to do, and then we realize that for epic crafting gear doing this is required for 24 minutes a week for two and a half weeks per tool or accessory. In the first four or five weeks, Abundnace worked sometimes, stole your shard others, didn’t reward you with unalloyed abundance for some. Getting the 8 shards was also far more difficult often taking another 20 to 30 minutes a character trying to fish from the Silvermoon pond with others parking their Brutosaurs in the pond to make sure you couldn’t even do that. Two or three weeks ago, the half week was cut out of that equation, allowing for a tool to be made after two weeks, or 48 minutes of abundance. That is 16 cycles of mindlessly running in circles to get the currency needed for their epic tools.

That’s two tools every five weeks, almost four months total for any given character with two professions, five and a half months if also going for cooking and fishing tools and accessories.  I continue to find myself thinking about repeated statements by Ion and other Blizzard/Warcraft staff about wanting to give us more agency in playing the way we want, not feel like we are being bound by chores, etc.

A few of those statements:

“The game needs to be fun. You need to log in and look forward to the adventures you’re going to have, the things you’ll do with your friends, the stuff you’re going to explore, the goals you’re going to chase, and not feel like you have a set of chores you have to accomplish before you can play the game the way you want to. As much as possible, we’re pivoting away from that and trying to offer true options without power dictating gameplay.”

"Play the game you want to play, the way you want to play it.”

Ion Hazzikostas — Dragonflight interview (2022)

“Aside from the meaningful choice came the mandatory grind. The feeling that if you didn’t complete your chores you were falling behind. Torghast was a victim of this too, being forced to overstay its welcome because you had to keep doing it.”

Jan 2023 interview with Preach Gaming

And yes, Ive heard the debate “you don’t HAVE to do it”, which is true, but at that same logic, this is just a game, we don’t HAVE to play. There is a flaw to that however, as many crafters do so to fund their characters, their raids, build transmogs, or however they like to play, and those players do feel the need to grind those tools out to remain competitive.  At this point, the end of that grind is nearing for many of us with a ways to go for others, however I feel I must highlight this as a member of the community. I love the World of Warcraft. It’s a wonderful game that has brought me friendship, happiness, and a lot of fun. I like many others have been playing for 20+ years and have no plans to stop, however I would like to challenge Blizzard to live up to the expectations you have set. Having repeatedly telling us you don’t want to create this feeling, I think its sad and unfortunate that we are here yet again, mindlessly running in circles, not having fun playing the way we want. I look forward to exploring more of Abyss Anglers and doing more achievement hunting, but for now, I am feeling like I have to do my chores first, and I dont like that feeling.
