Sympl Commuter 20L vs EVERGOODS CPL16: First Impressions

Just got the Sympl Commuter 20L and wanted to share some initial impressions before I start putting it through heavier use this week.

Overall, the quality is really nice. I chose the ballistic fabric, and while it feels premium, I don’t think it feels quite as high quality as the material on my EVERGOODS CPL16. That’s not to say it feels cheap by any means. It still feels like a very well-made bag.

The small front pocket is accessible from the side, and there’s a magnetic key attachment inside, which is a really nice touch.

The accordion-style internal organization is probably one of the most interesting parts of the bag. It’s pretty unique, and I can already see myself using it extensively. Very happy about that.

It also has a clamshell opening, which for me is pretty much a must-have on a backpack.
There’s an external water bottle compartment that can be unzipped to accommodate larger bottles. I know this exists on other bags, but it’s the first time I’ve personally had one like this. It looks like it will eat into some of the interior space depending on what you put in there, but I’m fine with that tradeoff.

The exterior handles are very substantial and feel high quality. The backpack straps also seem extremely comfortable so far.

I’d seen some people mention that the back padding was quite hard, but it doesn’t feel nearly as stiff as I expected. I’m personally not concerned about it at this point, but I’ll report back after actually carrying it for longer periods.

All of the zippers feel incredibly high quality. Not much else to say here… No complaints here.
I love the materials used for the interior and find the color to be very pleasing to the eye.

One thing I’ve noticed is that the exterior fabric has some wrinkles when the bag isn’t fully packed out. We’ll see whether that gets better or worse as the bag breaks in.

For context, I absolutely loved my EVERGOODS CPL16 and probably would have kept using it indefinitely, but my dumb ass allowed a banana to rot inside it. I could never completely get the smell out, so I took that as an opportunity to try something different.

My very early impression is that this bag actually has the potential to beat out the CPL16 as my end-game everyday bag, but I’m definitely not ready to say that yet.

I’ll start putting it through heavy use this week and report back.

Getting the SYMPL Commuter 20L today. Any questions or things you want tested?

Getting my SYMPL Commuter Pack 20L today. If anyone has been considering one or has any specific questions about it, let me know and I’m happy to test/check anything once it arrives.

I was previously using an EVERGOODS CPL16, which I really liked, but unfortunately had an issue with mine that was bad enough that I ended up having to throw the bag away.

Figured this could be helpful for anyone considering the SYMPL, especially if you’re coming from an EVERGOODS bag like I am. Happy to compare the two as well while the CPL16 is still pretty fresh in my memory.

Alright bag nerds, what’s the best EDC dad bag?

I currently use an Evergoods CPL16 for EDC and honestly think it might be the best bag ever. I do not care that it lacks a water bottle pocket. I love how it looks, the quality is excellent, and I have never had any issues with it digging into my back or feeling uncomfortable.

I’m about to become a father, so I’m looking for an EDC bag that can also function as a genuinely great diaper bag.

I still want something made for bag nerds, not a traditional diaper bag. Ideally it looks clean, carries comfortably, and has excellent materials and construction. Looks matter, but the priority is finding the best setup for diapers, wipes, bottles, changes of clothes, toys, and all the other random baby gear I’m apparently about to start carrying everywhere.

What would you recommend? I’ve been considering the Evergoods Civic Half Zip, but I’m open to anything.

Wife already has a Graceful MM + Black CarryAll. Which LV would you buy as a push present?

My wife and I are expecting our first baby, and I want to get her a Louis Vuitton push present.

She already has:

  • Louis Vuitton Graceful MM in Monogram Canvas
  • Louis Vuitton CarryAll in Black Monogram Empreinte Leather

She's also pretty petite, around 5'2", so I don't want to get something that overwhelms her frame.

I've been looking at:

  • Neverfull MM Empreinte (Black, Bicolor, or Turtledove)
  • Neverfull Inside Out MM
  • OnTheGo MM
  • Any other current LV styles that might make more sense

A few things I'm considering:

  • I don't want to buy something that overlaps too much with what she already owns.
  • It'll probably get used as an everyday bag with a newborn, so practicality matters.
  • I'm a little concerned about Turtledove because of color transfer and keeping it clean.
  • I like the Neverfull Inside Out, but I'm not sure if she'd appreciate the reversible/plain side or if it takes away from the luxury feel.

If you were in my shoes, which current Louis Vuitton bag would you buy as a push present and why?

I'd especially love to hear from anyone who owns multiple LV bags or has used one as a mom bag. Which one actually gets the most use?

Ambient Lighting Installed on 2025 Pre-Juniper Model Y (Stealth Grey)

Just installed ambient lighting in my 2025 pre-Juniper Tesla Model Y (Stealth Grey).

I wanted it to look classy, not tacky, and I’m really happy with how it turned out.

Curious what everyone else has done. If you’ve added ambient lighting to your pre-Juniper Model Y, what kit did you go with, and how has it held up over time?

Would love to see photos, especially from other Stealth Grey owners.

What actually matters when pitching playlists?

I’ve been seeing a lot of artists and managers struggle with playlist pitching, so I wanted to start a practical thread on what actually helps before reaching out.

In my opinion, the biggest mistake is treating playlisting like a magic button. A good pitch does not fix a weak song, bad rollout, missing assets, or unclear positioning.

The things I think matter most:

  1. The song has to make sense for the playlist. Not every “rap playlist” or “indie playlist” is a fit. The mood, tempo, audience, and current curation style matter more than just genre.
  2. The pitch needs to be short and specific. Playlist curators do not need a full artist bio. They need to know what the song is, why it fits, what is happening around the release, and why they should care.
  3. The rollout needs to look active. If there are no visuals, no content, no social proof, no release plan, and no reason for listeners to care, the pitch is much weaker.
  4. Avoid fake guarantees. Anyone promising placement is usually selling garbage. Real playlist pitching is about fit, presentation, timing, and relationships, not guarantees.
  5. Smaller playlists can still matter. A lot of artists only chase major editorial or huge user playlists, but smaller focused playlists can sometimes be more useful if the audience is actually aligned.

Curious how other people here approach playlist pitching. What has worked for you? What do you think artists waste too much time on?

Also happy to give general feedback in the comments if anyone wants another set of eyes on their pitch approach.

Need opinions on 2.02ct H VS2 GIA round diamond with strong blue fluorescence. Good choice or risky?

I’m looking for honest opinions on a round brilliant diamond I’m considering. I’ve been comparing a few stones and this one seems like the best balance of size, certification, and proportions, but I’m unsure because it has strong blue fluorescence.

Details:

Shape: Round brilliant
Carat: 2.02ct
Color: H
Clarity: VS2
Certification: GIA
Cut: Excellent
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Fluorescence: Strong blue
Measurements: 8.07 - 8.11 x 5.00 mm
Table: 57%
Depth: 61.8%
Crown angle: 35.5°
Pavilion angle: 40.6°
Girdle: Medium to slightly thick, faceted
Comments: Additional clouds and pinpoints are not shown

My understanding is that the proportions look pretty solid overall, especially the 40.6° pavilion angle, and the spread seems good for a 2ct stone. My main concern is the strong blue fluorescence, especially paired with the report comment about additional clouds/pinpoints not shown.

The seller says the stone is eye-clean, but I’m trying to confirm whether there could be any haziness, milkiness, oiliness, reduced transparency, or blue tint in natural daylight.

Questions:

Does this look like a strong candidate on paper?

Is strong blue fluorescence a major concern in an H VS2 round if the stone is confirmed not hazy or milky?

Do the proportions look safe, or is the 35.5° crown / 40.6° pavilion combo something to be cautious about?

Would you prioritize this over a smaller 1.81ct H VVS2 GIA with no fluorescence, or avoid the fluorescence risk entirely?

What specific photos/videos or tests should I ask for before buying? ASET, IdealScope, daylight video, tweezer video, etc.?

Trying to decide if this is a smart buy or if I should keep looking. Any honest feedback would help.
