i’m an incoming freshman at Columbia and am moving to nyc from overseas. I’m at a loss for what eSim I should get. Something pay-as-you-go.

To current students: what is the party scene at Columbia like? Are they mostly at Carmen? Or does everyone go clubbing (in which case would one need a fake ID?)? I would assume the greek life is more exclusive and not everyone goes to those…?

Or do most dorm halls just hang out in their common rooms?

So RY, when talking about violets second signet, said in an interview that there’s only one person who can teach her how to hone this signet.

I know the obvious and most likely answer is Xaden, since he’s also an intinnsic.

But part of me really hopes it’s Dain. I think it would be a lot more interesting for so many reasons. Firstly, we’ve already seen xaden teach her pretty much everything she knows as a rider. Other than that, it would be so good for dains arc and his and violets relationship if she tells him about her capital-offensive signet. And trusts him enough to know he won’t kill her or report her.

Plus he has a pretty powerful mind signet too according to Sloane. And i’m pretty sure there’s more to his signet that we know yet…

But what do u guys think. It could also just be Berwyn 🤢🤢SPEAKING OF WHOM- why is berwyn a dream-walker when the irids made it seem like that signet was specific to their breed…? isn’t that something worth pondering 😀😀

my personal opinion is yes, she is. but i’m open to hearing what everyone else thinks.

it’s not that i think rhiannon is a BAD friend by any means (that “violet is one life” comment in OS didn’t really upset me. it’s the way someone in leadership should think honestly). BUT i think imogen is way better of a friend.

i mean she’s ALWAYS there for violet (since threshing). whether it was because of xaden or not, she’s always been there for her. from training her to noticing she hasn’t been sleeping and running with her every morning, always checking up on her since xaden turned venin, being violets confidante since xaden turned AND ultimately erasing her memories because she asked her to….

she even tells violet not to follow xaden’s advice of shutting out her friends. and to instead open up to someone. that tells me she cares for violet regardless of her attachment to xaden.

they’ve just had more trauma bonding i suppose lol but personally i think imogen is one of the truest friends violet has.

Can anyone who took this placement test tell me what it entails? Will it be hard if I know the language but don’t speak very well in it and sometimes mess up on the tenses? Thanks!

does anyone else hope we get a scene of them actually acknowledging each other?

like yes violet and dain grew up together, but that means mira and brennan grew up with him too. And yet, we don’t get any reunion between brennan and dain or any scenes between either of the three of them….

in fact, you would think mira and brennan would care about him almost as much as they do violet (they’ve known him since he was 6 and he was super close to their dad).

like with the marked ones (garrick bodhi imogen and xaden), u can very clearly see their bond and that they grew up in close proximity)

the only moment i can think of between him and brennan are in chapter 44 of IF:

“Sounds like your wingleader gave you an order, cadet,” Brennan says, his tone flat.
(defending dain)

and chapter 59 of OS:

“You all right, Aetos?”Dain twists his hand around his wrist. “I’m good.”
(after he saves mira)

but other than that, nothing. and mira and him haven’t interacted since montserrat in the first book…

maybe now since dain will be a lieutenant there’ll be more scenes? who knows

and honestly i feel the same about them and aaric …

in IF, does xaden overhear lilith telling violet about her’s and xaden’s deal? to protect violet.

because how does he know she knows?

My mouth opens. Then shuts. “You knew…that I knew?” “Of course I knew.” He arches a dark brow as if I’m the problem here.

and wouldn’t that mean dain heard it too?

“He looks like he might fight me for a second, but then he slowly lowers me to stand and braces me against the wall. “Three minutes,” he whispers. “And I’ll be at the top of this staircase.” That warning is given to my mother as he starts up the steps with Garrick leading the way. “Aetos, did you decide to follow?”

“Apparently,” Dain says, waiting a few steps beneath me.

“Then fucking follow,” Xaden orders.

Dain grumbles, but he marches up the steps, leaving my mother alone with me.”

was genuinely wondering

hello!!! I'll be attending columbia university as a freshman this upcoming fall semester and was wondering when the fee bill for this year will be sent? i’m waiting on my financial aid package, and they said it’ll be sent out end of june.

i kind of thought i would have received it by now since the trustees have approved this year’s tuition… so does anyone know?

i think it’s safe to say the two of them had the most downtime with each other during part 2 of iron flame. when they were living together in xadens room in Riorson House.

do u think they talked about their childhoods? we know xaden told her a bit about his in the letters but do u think they speak about it too? did they talk about xaden’s aristocratic training (like dance lessons or etiquette courses LOL). did they talk about everything violet and dain would do together (like swim, climb trees, and attend balls). could they have attended the same balls growing up ? do they talk about how much mira and brennan fight? or how much imogen and garrick are into each other but do nothing about it? did violet tell him about her friendship with aaric growing up? does xaden know violet hates squash?

do we think these conversations are just cannon or nah

when we are initially introduced to their dynamic, it’s obviously full of resentment and animosity.

but i can’t help but notice that it became more cordial and maybe even a mutually beneficial relationship in some way…? i know it’s a common theory that aaric told him about his signet and told him what was gonna happen and what not, but im not sure i believe that… only because i cant see xaden keeping that from violet- ESPECIALLY after their keeping-secrets argument throughout IF.

but there is SOME understanding between them and i wish we knew more. xaden seems invested in keeping him alive:

“Felix, keep the first-years safe and your eye on that one.” His finger swings toward Aaric.”

“And no, you are not your father, nor your brother, which is precisely why you will not fight. We need you to live. Your kingdom needs you to live.” Xaden grabs the collar of Aaric’s uniform and pivots, forcing him back into line next to me.”

“I think he won,” Rhi says. Xaden nods once before Aaric backs away, then breaks into a run to mount Molvic. “I’d definitely say so,” I agree.

“She’d be a great politician,” Aaric continues. “Or a general, maybe? Definitely nobility.”
“With that speech? At least a duchess.” Xaden shifts his weight, brushing his elbow against my shoulder.

“You sure you want to do this?” Xaden asks, so close I can suddenly feel the warmth of him at my back.
“Want? No.” Aaric shakes his head. “But I need to. And as much as I don’t mind Halden making your life fucking miserable, I do mind him condemning the Continent to death by dark wielder because he can’t take a deep breath and count to three when he gets mad.”
“Sounds great to me.” Xaden’s hand brushes the small of my back.

i know it may seem like i’m reaching but i feel like they have a lot in common. both are not very chatty, kind of angsty and are of nobility. not to mention they’re both bonded to blue dragons which obviously means they’re similar in ways dragons even understand.

i hope we get more of them and i wonder if there’s already been discussion of some sort between them about the future of this war. violet has known him since childhood so it’s safe to assume aaric is important to her…

it’s being released in 4 months so you would think its name would be announced by now… when do u think it’ll be announced? or will it be on the release date itself 😅😅

This chapter was sad in so many ways.

Most obviously, for xaden. He sees the new life and family his mom created without thinking twice about him for the last 13 years. Her love for him wasn’t enough to withstand the lack of freedom that apparently came with a contractual agreement like hers and Fen’s. He sees two boys get the maternal affection he’s been missing since he was 10 and it has to sting even more that he has two half brothers that don’t even know he exists. After throwing digs at her throughout dinner, he sees the chocolate cake actually WANTS to give her another chance. He wants to eat the cake because even the fact that she REMEMBERED it was his favourite was more than he had ever expected of her. Only to find out it was poisoned by her husband. He leaves without any closure- and if anything, on worse terms than before.

Obviously this is sad enough but then there are moments of violet’s trauma that also peek through. After seeing Talia run towards her boys, the ONLY thing she can relate that kind of concern to is from her sister. Not even her mother. “She pulls back and gives them the same once-over I usually earn from Mira after a battle.”
Moreover she’s watching the love of her life actually express sadness for probably the first time in their relationship. She relates his situation to her own mother which also has to be hard since i doubt they talk about her often- given what she cost xaden.

“Because my mother just died.” He stills, and regret instantly washes over his face. “I’m sorry, Violet.” “You don’t need to be. I’m just saying that I’m not the person to ask if you should spend a night talking to yours, because I would give anything for ten minutes with mine.” I set my hand over my chest like it has a prayer of holding the grief inside where it belongs.”

I doubt she ever wanted comfort from him after she died because she probably doesn’t even want her occupying xaden’s mind anymore. She knows and resents what lilith did to him. But with that empathy, it also means violet hasn’t grieved at all. she hasn’t spoken to anyone about it, which means it’s all gonna come out in the next book probably.

Just thought it was notable how depressing this chapter was for everyone lol.

I saw that Inde said her dream role was to play violet from fourth wing. And given that Micheal B. Jordan (who is producing the series) followed her on instagram, do we think she’s gonna be violet for real?

I feel like she’d be perfect for the role so I hope it’s her 🤞
