Bond ETFS

I’ve been thinking about adding a bond ETF, specifically something like Vanguard’s VGLT, to my portfolio for a little more diversification.

My portfolio is currently pretty ETF heavy already, VOO, VO, AVUV and SCHF. with interest rates and Treasury yields being as high as they are right now, I’ve been wondering if this is a reasonable time to start building a small bond position.

I know bond ETFs can still drop in price, especially longer-duration ones like VGLT, so I’m not looking at them as a guaranteed “safe” investment. I’m more interested in whether having something like 5–10% in bonds would actually make sense alongside my current allocation and potentially give me some stability during a stock-market downturn.
Would you personally consider adding a bond ETF at these yield levels, or would you just stay fully invested in equities.
Curious what you guys think, especially if you’ve held VGLT or similar Treasury ETFs through the recent rate increases.

Any input would be appreciated thanks !

Redwire doesn’t feel like a “meme stock” anymore

Let’s take a look at the numbers for RDW and why I don’t think it’s a “meme” stock as much people say anymore .

-Q2 earnings reported 117 million in revenue
-Up 89.6% YoY, 27.8% gross margin compared to last years -30% gm
-EBIDTAZ is very close to being breakeven
-1.52x book to bill ratio

Now the backlogs I Defineltey like they just have to capitalize on it . Up to $542 million in backlogs currently up $411 million from last year . Defense tech contracts being a bulk sum of $220 million . Space being $300 million

The expansion of their Huntsville facility is also a big move for the company .

Recent orders :

$21.5 million order for stalker systems - Marine Corp

$15 million order for stalkers systems - Army

Recent contact won with an undisclosed NATO country roughly 50- 99 million (Penguin MK3 contract)

contract won with Taiwan Coast guard for their VTOL drone systems .

I think this company is starting to look more legit and I’m getting more confident in it by the week. If they keep winning contracts and can execute I think we can see some good price increases , curious on your thoughts .

Thoughts on SYCO (SYY)

So I’ve been looking at Sysco as a potential buy here soon, just curious on some of your guys thoughts .

They are the largest food distributor in NA, and controls about 15-20 percent of the whole US food distribution market. They also acquired Restaurant depot in a recent 29 billion dollar buy out. Expanding some of their reach in the market.

Obviously one concern if something similar happened during COVID where it fell nearly 50% with the food industry tanking .

20.5 billion in Revenue (up 4.7% over the year )

3.8 billion in profit (up 6.5%)

I’ve been looking for more stocks outside of the AI/ semi run, another company I’ve been looking at was WM (waste management ) kind of those slow growth defensive stocks . Thoughts would be appreciated !

Concerning

Had a meeting I had to be on with the new celebration coming out (c6) , there was probably like over 80 people on there . Was going fine just learning about the whole rollout process. Then at the end this one guy comes on and basically told us “if this celebration doesn’t work out, we should all be really worried “ and said it’s on US to make sure it goes right or else he’s not sure about the future of Panera . Talk about ending the meeting on a great note! Although I’ve already seen the writing on the wall the past 2 years.

Add to portfolio? (PG or WM)

So I’m currently looking at one or two more companies to add to my portfolio.

My current portfolio allocations are 70% ETFS 30% stocks

-VOO
-AVUV
-VO
-PAVE

Current stocks

-NVIDIA
-RDW
-CSCO
-HPE

I Want to add another company like Cisco, kind of a slower growth stock but stable. Was looking at maybe add Waste management or Procter and gamble . Any holders of those two ? They are both down about $20 the past year so could be some value there still. Not necessarily chasing the dividends but that’s a nice touch. But any other slow “compounder “ stocks I should I be looking at ?

ETFS to add

So I currently am holding VOO and FSTA and am looking to balance out my portfolio with a small cap ETF and an industrials focused ETF. AVUV and FIDU caught my eye and was curious if there’s any others you guys like to have for diversification in your portfolio. Will probably add VXUS as well for some international

Redwire (RDW)

Anybody investing into Redwire ? Was looking into the stock and might add it it the portfolio. Just curious on some of your guys thoughts .

They are positioned in a few different sectors
Space infrastructure
Defense Tech
Satellite systems

Revenue has grown about %50 year to year

They have been losing money/have burned cash in the past , however they are winning lots of contracts with about 500 million in backlogs.

They have recent contacts with MDA SHIELD, DARPA, ESA QKDSat the biggest being with MDA for 151 billion ceiling

Kind of see it as a high upside, mid volatility stock depending on if defense spending slows.

Might add a few shares to the portfolio and test the waters a bit. Appreciate any input
