Potential new player

I'm an AoS player that mainly likes to play Spearhead with my brother and/or friends, but am interested in exploring the 40K side of GW's game systems as well.

From what I've read online and saw on Youtube, Combat Patrol is the most equivalent game mode of Spearhead in terms of size, so I would like to start there.

How good/interesting are the Necrons to play in this mode and what other Combat Patrols have fun interaction with them? I'd like to potentially get Necrons since they're my absolute favorite looking army from 40K, but also another box for my brother and friends to play with.

Show me your painting setups!

Me and my family are moving into our new house soon, which will finally offer me some dedicated space for miniature painting.

So far, I've always had to work at the dining table with my portable setup, that I had to move daily to make room for dinner. I'm very eager to finally have the dedicated space for it and am now thinking about how to organize things.

I'd love to get some inspiritation from the community!

Marshal finished

Decided to switch from Vallejo Xpress colors to acrylic layer painting. This one was a test model, so I'm looking for C&C!

Tournament at Arcane Forge in Amsterdam

So today I (and my brother) joined our first Spearhead tournament at the new Arcane Forge store in Amsterdam. I brought my Blades of Khorne and he brought his Kruleboyz.

First game I actually played vs. my brother which made for a nice warm-up game for us both. We managed to make it interesting in the first round due to his -1 to wound on everything and -1 to hit on his Gutrippaz. After that it went downhill for him quick and the final score ended up being 23-12 in favor of Khorne.

Second game I played vs. the Sylvaneth Bitterbark Copse. My opponent has a good understanding of both his own Spearhead and mine and managed to outmanoeuvre with the teleportation shenanigans all the time. I kept his Revenants and Branchwych in check, but eventually lost by 14-19.

Third game was an interesting one. This player brought the new Hurakan Vanguard Spearhead. It's a Spearhead that requires a lot of upfront planning and being able to adapt on the fly with the leeway mechanic. He kept me on my toes, but I managed to eek out the win with a score of 18-17

Fourth game was a bit of a letdown because I got matched up vs. the Cities Castelite Company. As the attacker, I managed to get into his army on the first turn and kept him locked down for the rest of the game. The cannon had some unlucky rolls on both the active and off-turns with it's shooting, so once I broke through his screen of Cavaliers, Steelhelms and the general, the game was basically decided. Final score: 23-18

The Sylvaneth Bitterbark Copse player managed to win the day with a score of 19/19/19/25, which left me in second place. All in all, it was a very fun experience to have had and I thank everyone who made this possible!

Help me decide!

My brother registered himself and me for an upcoming Spearhead event in Amsterdam and I'm excited to make my first foray into the real life community with this awesome game.

Which of my available Spearheads should I bring for the most fun experience do you all think? It's not a very competitive tournament from what I read online, so I'm not looking to play anything meta per se.

  • Blades of Khorne - Bloodbound Gore Pilgrims
  • Skaven - Warpspark Clawpack
  • Flesh-Eater Courts - Carrion Retainers
  • Cities of Sigmar - Castelite Company
  • Cities of Sigmar - Zenestra's Zealots
  • Cities of Sigmar - Fusil-Platoon
  • Cities of Sigmar - Sentinels of Embergard

Gallants done!

Decided to make my unit of Gallants a collective of noble knights from Ghyranite and Aqshian cities. Had a lot of fun painting these up.

Weird question, but I'm going to ask it anyways. Does anyone (preferably in the EU) have a Cavalier Marshal base to spare? I'm kitbashing a custom marshal for my upcoming PtG campaign and would love to keep the base the same for both sizing reasons and recognition.
