Should I take on this project as a newbie?

Hi all - I’ve been wanting to get into computer repair as a side hustle. And I found this deal. Should I go for it?

I initially thought about keeping it for myself but frankly - I have a RTX 5060ti beast and have a 6 year old Ryzen 7 4700U laptop. So I don’t feel like this is much better than either of my devices. So not worth keeping. Right?

Good deal?

Someone is selling this RAM for $400 CAD. I don’t need it per se. I have 16 GB single channel running in my gaming pc.

Only time I run into issues is with the maps in cyberpunk 2077 where the game seems to either stutter or drop frames (idk what the technical term is)

How to move files between servers

Hi all, I’m trying to migrate my server from a PC I already have to a new PC. How can I go about this?

For context:

Both the source and destination PCs are windows PCs.

The media data is sitting on a HDD- so really all I need to move over is the Jellyfin and Plex files that help the server host.

To cloud...or local game?

Hi all - I was able to (in Canada) get the following PC - iBUYPOWER Gaming PC Desktop - Intel Core i5-14400F CPU - NVIDIA RTX 5060Ti GPU - 1 TB SSD - 16 GB RAM - Windows 11 Home for the price of $1300 maple flavored dollars.

I mainly plan on playing Cyberpunk on it...it's been a game I've been playing for over a year now...and I friggin love it! Now - here's my question - should I continue playing on Nvidia Geforce now like I have been? Or should I keep this beautiful (and my first ever) gaming PC?

Here's why I ask -

  1. We all know the RAM prices are going up and expected to continue to go up
  2. My fear, and gut feeling is - just like Netflix, Nvidia and all these cloud gaming services will increase their prices. I did the math, and if the price of Nvidia Geforce Now Ultra (or whatever the highest/preemest tier is called) - staying at the current rate you're already paying for half the price of the pc in 2 years...and at the end of it all you don't have a PC to show for it.
  3. Now the reality is - I usually play on performance mode on the Geforce now..and my only complaint is that it does take a hot minute to get a hold of a rig sometimes...especially on the weekends.

So, my question to you all is - should I keep this PC and let it run as my media server whenever I'm not gaming...or return it and put my money towards Geforce now and hope to god that the leather jacket wearing bandit doesn't increase the price of GFN to like $50 a month...cause then frankly you'd have paid for this PC in about 2 years time.

Should I buy a sketchy Pixel 9

Hi fine folks,

I’m considering buying a Google pixel 9 for a graphene OS install. The seller seems like an up front guy.

He mentioned that the USB port had been changed on the device due to some issues. And it doesn’t come with a color matching sim card tray.

I wanna get this device mainly to test Graphene OS and see if it’s for me. But I’m worried about the USB port situation.

Any way I can check if I’m getting a viable device?
