Cross (2024-) What a waste so far!

It seems like a simple proposition: adapt the classic James Patterson novels, already tried and tested material, into a modern setting. Reacher follows this formula, rather successfully, and there are plenty of Cross books that have not been adapted yet. Instead, we get brand new cases, that mind bogglingly lack any mystery, as the identity of the killers so carefully guarded in the books are revealed almost immediately, and there are no plot twists or cliffhangers to speak of. Despite that I think the show is well cast and Aldis Hodge is genuinely the most accurate adaptation of the character we have had so far. Still, it gets worse and worse, with the family dynamic being even further reduced in this season (Nana Mama in only two episodes?!) and the Kyla Craig ‘Mastermind’ storyline seemingly being botched.

I don’t even know anyone who watches this show, but what’s the general consensus? Are people actually into this? Is there any indication things will change?

Anyone seen SINNERS AND SAINTS (2010)?

It had a good trailer and pretty decent cast for something presumably going straight to DVD. But when it came out it went completely under the radar. I found some way of watching it back in the day and thought it was actually well done, especially if you like movies with lots of guns and muzzle flashes done right. It’s quite gritty and action packed. I recommend it if you like films about rogue cops and extended shootouts.

Anyone else seen it or even a fan?

Not enjoying Brian Azzarello’s run

To the point that I am ready to put it down because I find it so unpleasant. At the same time I am wondering if it improves at any point and it’s worth maybe skipping a few stories to get to the good stuff.

Been reading Hellblazer chronologically for a while now so I am hesitant to quit outright.

Any advice?

Just finished Prophet

Greatly enjoyed the series, but still confused by some aspects. As I never read the original series by Rob Liefeld, and may have at times let my attention waver as I often read this before bed, I have some questions.

What happened to the red shard that it stopped emitting pain? Where did it come from? How was the Exmere storyline resolved? What was happening with Badrock and Troll and who the heck were they? Why was Greenknife not the one who was sent to assassinate the dissenting crystal priest when he volunteered for it?

And overall, does reading the original material make any of this clearer or is it all just open to interpretation?

Thanks in advance!
