Travelling with mom who has bedbugs

Few weeks ago I suspected I brought home bedbugs into my apartment from my mom’s place and am currently in the middle of an infestation and it’s being treated right now. My mom’s house has bedbugs all bedrooms have it currently 3 bedrooms my 2 brothers have stated they have bedbugs and my mom also has many bites all over her body even though she’s in denial. My parents are like class 5 hoarders so they bring home second hand things and A LOT and the house is super cluttered. I’m travelling with her this weekend for a night my plan is to get her to sleepover and put the outfit she’s wanting to wear in a ziploc bag then as soon as she gets to my apartment ill make her shower but I’m so paranoid her shoes might have bedbugs or her bag. How would you guys go about this?? Also few days after this trip were going to Japan with her few days after for 9 days , I told her to wash and dry all her clothes and put them straight into the ziplock bags I’m giving to her but a part of me is still terrified I’ll miss a spot. I just called extermination for my own bed bugs that came from her place so I don’t want to do this again it’s hell. Advice??

How bad is my bed bug infestation?

My mom’s house has bed bugs in all the bedrooms I go there to pick up packages and chit chat and I live in an apartment. Recently I started getting bites and suspect I got a hitchhiker hoping it’s just one hitchhiker but who knows might be more and this is my timeline:

Around July.24 or maybe few days later I got like 4 bites in close clusters on my right calf. I thought weird must’ve gotten bitten by mosquitos while I was out with friends last night but it was strange since mosquitos don’t really like me

Some time before August.2 maybe few days before that I got another cluster of 3 bites on my left lower arm and then a day later like 5 on my upper arm I THOGUHT there’s a mosquito living in my bedroom maybe so I blasted the fan in my bedroom. They were super itchy like to the point I start twitching and tweaking out

August.12 a week goes by no bites I thought my fan is working! And then at night I’m on my phone I feel my back itching I scratch it and feel another bite and think that’s weird did I just get bitten today and didn’t know??? And then it kept itching around that area I had this sense something was biting me in that moment even tho I’ve never once caught any bug in their mid meal on me and I flip the blanket and there’s this huge bed bug crawling and I kill it. It managed to bite me 4x while I was awake right before I killed it. I sleep on the couch but barely because I’m effing terrified

August.13 morning i call exterminator right away he’ll be here in few hours I strip my mattress I find 3 skin sheddings all sizes ranging smallest to biggest. I don’t find poop or anything else. I wash everything high heat dryer al that. He sprays chemical in my room. Says I shouldn’t get bitten that night n I can sleep in my room i don’t sleep in my room I sleep on couch for 3 nights cuz anxiety is high I know I shouldn’t have every night I’d wake up at 5am and go sleep in my room when I’m half asleep it’s easy to manage to sleep in my bed but when I’m awake I’m like high anxiety

August 15 Tonight is my first full night in my bed and I’m really scared but I know I have to lure these bugs out to walk on the chemical

How bad is my infestation? How long will it take to eradicate? I keep trying to tell myself it’s just one bed bug that hitch hiked on me and I killed it so hoping it’s all over but 3 sheds make it hard to believe . Also if any advice please share

supporting a acquaintance with a new Stage 4 cancer diagnosis. Patients, what did you actually need most?

A young guy in my community group recently received a Stage 4 cancer diagnosis. We weren’t super close before this we belong to a very warm, tight knit group where everyone is friendly, polite but we didn't have a deep, one on one friendship.

Ever since the news broke, I've felt this massive pull to do what I can to help. I'm a very practical person, so I've started doing contactless porch drop-offs with things like gentle personal care items for chemo side effects, nutritional drinks, and small distractions to bring a little comfort.

I know he is completely overwhelmed right now by texts and people wanting to see him. Because of that, I never ask him to hang out and I usually only text him when i do a drop off

But I'm plagued with anxiety that I'm going overboard or that my actions might look disingenuous since we weren't best friends before. I just want his days to be a little softer

To cancer patients and survivors:
Did you ever feel like casual acquaintances were going overboard? Did it ever feel disingenuous, or were you just glad someone cared?

What were the specific, practical things you actually needed most during the thick of your early treatments when you were feeling defeated and overwhelmed?
Thank you so much.
