Air King and Ingenieur had a baby

Ingenieur case, air king dial with a VH31 movement. I like how it turned out. I call it Flight Ingenieur.

Nice flea market find.

Got these two from a vintage watch seller for a good price at a local flea market. I love the blue dials. They are both 36mm and hand wound. The citizen was not running. When I got home I opened the case back to find the cap jewel on the balance of the citizen 1802 movement was missing. I’ve already ordered a new one and plan to service the movement. Need to find the right band for it, thinking maybe a Milanese mesh bracelet. The Kienzle looks good on a leather plain or alligator strap.

Is this hairspring done Part 2!

Disconnected the spring from the balance wheel and started working the curve. With a 10x not the easiest job. So how’d I do? Does it need more curve towards the end? Thanks for the feedback.

Is this hairspring done?

It’s better than it was, however this hairspring does not want to sit correctly, it’s all bunched up to one side and doesn’t want to sit flat. I ordered another one to replace this one in a Miyota 8200 in case I totally screw this one up.

7750 Overwinding or reverser issue

As you can see in the video the winding gear clicks and go backwards when the rotor is winding it. You are not supposed to be able to overwind a 7750 from what I have read. Does this look like that? I also can’t see any mangled gear teeth on quick inspection. I’m going to let it run down some before I check it again, other thoughts as to what this could be before I tear into this, ratchets in the reverser need cleaning lubrication maybe? Thanks.

7750 movement holder

Bought this to work on a 7750 and it fits the movement perfectly, it is nicely finished, no rough spots. My issue with it is the pushers don’t seem to reach the pushers on the movement or don’t push far enough. Is this something that can be adjusted? It came with some other pieces I’m not completely sure what they do. Is there a tutorial on how to use one of these somewhere? Thanks for the input.

First VH31 mod.

Not my first quartz but first vh31 mod. Customer wanted something they could set and not have to mess with that could be used for nice occasions or work on leather. After some finish shaping of the movement holder everything went in smoothly.

Summertime pilot chrono?

Recased this build into an acrylic case to see if I like it. Vk67, dial, case and hands AliX.

7750 help

I broke the rotor screw in the automatic winding module plate, after trying a few different things, making sure to get nothing in the watch, I decided to take the plate off to see if I could get it from underneath. Well there’s a jewel in the way so I put everything back together and have ordered some new parts.

I decided to try again and going through the same procedure essentially and put it all back together. The chrono hand won’t turn now so I tracked the problem to binding of the chrono hand gear on a gear next to it. This only happens when the plate is tightened completely. I’m at a loss as to what to do. See attached picture. Thanks for your assistance.

I just put a brand new ST36 into a watch case and checked its numbers with a phone app in a quiet room to be sure it was decently regulated. I set the time and walked away. When I came back it was way ahead of the actual time. I sat and watched the second hand lap the watch I had on after only a few minutes. Full disclosure, I did drop the movement, though it landed relatively softly. How can I be getting these numbers and it actually be running as fast as it really is? I’m wondering if I need to disassemble the movement now and check everything?

I looked all the usual places and I’m wondering if anyone knows where I might find a kompressor case like this in at least a 40-42mm or larger. Thanks.

Been wanting an automatic chronograph, this was an excellent price to find out if I want to spend big money down the road on something really nice in this category. It’s a nice Porsche Design/Sinn homage.
