The Company by Robert Littrell

Really good book, and if you like spy novels I highly recommend it. One of the primary characters is named Harvey Torriti and is remarkably similar to Jackson Lamb. Cuts his teeth in post-war Berlin, constantly drinking but seemingly never drunk, overweight with a slovenly appearance but remarkably fit underneath it all, irreverent field genius. Interestingly, Torriti was heavily based on the actual CIA Berlin Station Chief during the height of the Cold War, William King Harvey, who was a fascinating guy and worth reading about in his own right.

FC26 Runs GREAT on Switch 1

I’m very happily surprised. I haven’t played a FIFA/FC game in a while and I felt like checking one out. Keeping in mind the limitations of the aging console I intended to buy an older version but FC26 was marked down to $11.99 so I went with it, expecting to get an $11.99 experience with lags and such. It’s worth noting that I’m playing offline - it’s possible that performance issues are more noticeable in online play - but so far I haven’t had any problems at all. Yes, the crowd looks like cardboard cutouts but it plays great and I would have been happy even if I had paid full price. At $11.99 it was an incredible deal.

ETA: Jesus fucking Christ, it’s a subjective opinion. Let me change it for you: *I think* that FC 26 runs great on switch 1, *especially considering my very low expectations*. I’m enjoying the game. YMMV. Reddit is fucking exhausting if your opinion deviates from that of the Hive Mind.

Best Pringles I’ve ever had in my entire life

I went out of my way to go to a Walmart so I could get 3 cans of these after trying them last week. Delicious, and they taste exactly like BBQ.

Can someone explain why everybody hates Agave and Rye so much?

I think their food is pretty good. Maybe not the best but I truly don’t understand the hate this place gets. What am I missing?

Overly supportive strangers on Reddit are creepy asf

There are a lot of assholes on Reddit but there are also a lot of people who are *way* too friendly/affectionate/supportive to completely anonymous strangers (or more likely bots). “OMG, your comment was AMAZING. I’m obsessed with you!” “I’m sorry that your boyfriend broke up with you. Just know that I love you and you’re amazing!” “This. So much this. Do you want to be best friends?” “Hey, sorry the cake you were making didn’t turn out right. DM me if you ever want to talk about it.”

I’m all for positivity among strangers but it feels so forced and completely insincere. Then people take it even further and just make things weird.

Scallops and noodles

My portfolio is underperforming the S&P while I’m taking on hedge-fund-level emotional damage. Noodles and scallops cause that’s all I can manage

Respectfully, not cool. Went to Chef Lin specifically to get some salmon nigiri. I was so lucky, the sushi chef was just setting out 12 fresh pieces as I was walking up to the counter…and then the lady in front of me piled every single one of those 12 pieces on her plate. And I mean piled, because there were too many to actually fit on one plate. For herself. One person. The sushi chef is nice and accommodating but he doesn’t have time to prep another load of salmon immediately after setting one out. First world problems and all that, definitely inconsequential in the grand scheme of things, I’m lucky I can afford to eat, etc., etc., but I mean come on. This was just unnecessary, selfish behavior.

Maybe an odd request but it’s for part of a Mother’s Day gift. Does anybody work for or know of a local movie theater that will sell me a large (garbage bag sized?) bag’s worth of (popped) popcorn? Thanks in advance!

ETA: I really appreciate everybody’s helpful suggestions, I think we’ve got some great options!
