[Free Friday] Dominican church in Warsaw-Służew

It’s controversial architecture, but I love it

Rare syro-malabar leavened Eucharist!

I hope to see the others (not Armenians though!) use leavened bread too someday

[Free Friday] Dr Janusz Korczak depicted on a confessional in a church

Dr Janusz Korczak was not catholic, or even christian, but he is pictured among examples of christian mercy like St Theresa of Calcutta. He’s pictured with the children of the Warsaw Ghetto, whom he refused to abandon and was killed along with them in a death camp. One of the children is wearing a crown - it’s a character from Korczak’s novel, King Matty I.

World Youth Day 2016 phelonion

Admittedly, it’s somewhat bland - the thin fabric could be explained by the WYD happening in summer though, but it lacks patterns imo. Still, it’s better than nothing! Jubilee events and World Youth Day celebrations should include eastern vestments too.

Church of St Sophia the Wisdom of God in Warsaw

I took the pictures during the canonization of the Martyrs of Katyń. Who would expect Hagia Sophia in Poland?

[Free Friday] Servant of God Francis Hong Yong-ho - the first and only bishop of Pyongyang and very possibly a martyr. He disappeared in 1949, but was declared dead in 2013

I’m just sad for Carole Ann Ford

I don’t care much that the show’s probably going to get cancelled again. The last two seasons were very effective at making me lose interest in Doctor Who, I’ll gladly relisten to Scherzo thank you very much. The point is… Carole Ann Ford is the only aspect of it I care about. She’s the last member of the original cast, and she’s 85! People can die any day at that age! Of course, while I want her to live forever, I can’t help but feel that we’re not going to ever see her again onscreen. I would very much like to be proven wrong, but we all know how it is. So much for the ”find me” bit, I guess - show her in the TARDIS for some reason, give her three lines, and that’s that. I’m just sad that an old lady was effectively used as fanbase bait and nothing will ever follow it up.

Corpus Christi in the last neo-uniate parish in Kostomłoty

Yes, I know, it’s mostly a latin tradition. But as far as I can tell, the Neo-Uniates have been practicing it since the beginning, and it’s been easternized and adapted. There are six altars instead of four, and instead of a host, there is a square piece of a prosphora in the monstrance. You can see it on the diskos too!

Chaldean catholic parish in Tbilisi

Probably the most consistently great chaldean rite church I’ve seen. Them using latin hosts isn’t exactly my favorite thing, but I can survive that.
