My top 12 new watches of 2026… so far (of 51 films)

My top 12 new watches of 2026… so far (of 51 films)

by far my strongest year to date (in terms of 4+ stars)… watching a lot of “classics” for the first time will do that, I guess. I love ~35 of the 51, whereas my default reaction is historically “meh.”

[FOR HIRE] US-Located VA $20/HR (~10/hr month)

- Must be located in the US and willing to sign NDA.
- Fluent in English / Native-level English writer.
- Comfortable making calls (scheduling, talking with SAs, etc).
- Comfortable with Google Sheets
Paid via Venmo.

The asks are straight-forward and only ~10/hrs per month. I can see increasing hours in the future with the right person (ex. email mgmt), but I don't want to overpromise at this stage. It's objectively light work (my life is pretty dull), but management of these tasks are a mega help to me.

Ongoing asks (all personal):
- Calendar management
- Manual bills & one-off invoices - payments
- Service scheduling and comms (like landscaping, grooming, doctors), most of which is by phone.

As needed:
- Reservations
- Retail comms / Finding and purchasing items. Should be familiar talking with SAs.
- Light research (like: best doctor for X in this city based on X criteria)
- Groceries ordering
- To-do list organization

Hours are generally whatever works for you (contractor), so long as timely responses.
I prefer to email tasks; I hate texting.

If interested, if you'll please: 1) share your US state, 2) confirm 21+, and 3) share any brief, relevant details, 4) note if you have a university degree (not a requirement). Can share resume if you would like, but also okay not to share any personal/identifying info at first contact. If you DM, please start with the words $20 VA Hire. Thank you!

$30/hr Remote Personal VA (~10hrs/month)

Why I'm looking: My current VA has unfortunately become sloppy in recent months... adding items to my calendar that belong to their other clients, repeated typos / ignoring requested formatting, and ill-equipped to handle recent/expanded tasks like speaking with retail SAs (it's very easy, they just seem very unfamiliar tbh).

- Service scheduling and comms (like landscaping, grooming, doctors), most of which is by phone.

- Light research (like: best doctor for X in this city based on X criteria)
- Groceries ordering
- To-do list organization

Must be located in the US and willing to sign NDA. Hours are generally whatever works for you (contractor). Paid via Venmo. I prefer to email tasks; I hate texting. Apologies if this is the wrong sub for this!

If interested, if you'll please: 1) share your state, 2) confirm 21+, and 3) share any brief, relevant details. No need to share resume (though, you're welcome to) or any personal/identifying info at first contact. Thank you!

Best book for to avoid these TWs?

Haven’t read any murakaki; would like to. Are there any that completely avoid all these: 1) self-harm/ideation and 2) animal harm or death?

Fave film each decade (1930s-2000s)

Any pre-1960 recs? (no hitchcock; have seen ‘em)

What are chances these from my top 15 will ever get physical 4k?

The others I either have or they are planned. Asking specifically based on info like "X studio has it and they have history of releases like that," or "X movie has digital 4k and it's very likely," etc. OR "zero chance". Thank you!

Year-to-date rankings (super strong so far)

Really enjoyed the top 32, and even 33+ were fine.

Watched Dog Day Afternoon. Instant add to faves. for funsies, which theme do you like?

Also, if you have any recs similar to dog day afternoon (particularly pacino’s humor in it), very interested.

Who is this actor? Have seen, but can’t place them.

driving me crazy because I think I loved whatever they were in. This photo is a screenshot of the Las Culturistas Awards audience tonight… and it’s too blurry for reverse search, apparently. Thanks!

TW question for these

Next on my watchlist :) Without any spoilers (I want to go in blind… haven’t even seen the trailers), do any of these show self-harm? Or have ideation / conversations about it? Thank you!

What type of accountant (?) handles personal bill pay and tracking?

All those around me seem to be for businesses, or for personal estate planning or taxes. what should I be searching? If it matters, I’m in a suburb/rural area.

Apologies if this is wrong sub (again, lost for the title I need). A virtual assistant currently does this, but would rather a professional handle certain accounts. Thanks!

Theme: 1, 2, or 3?

Just for fun and because I like all, which is most interesting? Swapped a film here or there to match the vibe. Not strict about my top 4.
