My condo temperature right now

My condo temperature right now

This is what happens when your condo management turns off the AC while it’s still 20°, and when the condo is poorly built with no proper airflow. Opening up the windows does nothing to cool the place.

Authenticity check classic aviators

Got them for a pretty decent price on eBay. Saw the 64 14 size and had to go for it. The modern Luxottica ones don’t seem to come that large and always leave a mark on my temples.

Lenses are made of glass based on the sound when I tap them.

There’s a bit of scratching on the frame above the Ray ban logo.

The nose pads were pretty dirty when I got them. Had to clean them off quite a bit so they were definitely worn. Also the arms were a bit bent from wear. I was able to straighten them no problem.

1 month in, left eye is out of focus by default

A bit hard to describe this issue I’m having.

My right eye is pretty much perfect.

My left eye on the other hand is slightly out of focus when at rest. It’s not terrible, but it’s enough to notice if I cover up my right eye.

I can manually adjust the focus of that eye. Best way I can describe this is pretending I’m looking at something closer than what I’m actually looking at.
When I do this, my left eye focuses and can see just as well as my right.

Is this normal? I know my eyes are supposed to continue to improve over the coming months. Is this something that does improve?

It’s not eye misalignment, as I can cover my right eye and still experience this.

Also oddly enough, I can’t do this with my right eye. It’s just always in focus.

Also to note:

My eyes have healed up very well so far. I haven’t had dry eye issues (at least not more than I did pre surgery), light sensitivity, halos, pain, etc…

Aside from this, everything has been very smooth.

I will note that during the surgery, the surgeon did poke and prod at my left eye a bit with a tool (looked similar to the swab they used to remove the epithelium) after the laser had finished resurfacing the cornea. They had not done this for the right eye.

Age 35

pre op prescription:

OD -2.00-1.75 × 015
OS -2.50-1.75 × 164

Legit B&L aviators?

Saw these for sale.

I can see the case has been replaced, but I’m okay with that as long as the glasses are legit.

PRK experience

Had my surgery on June 12th 2026.

The procedure itself was insanely quick and painless. I was told to expect to be in the clinic for up to 3 hours including all the prep.

The prep itself was about 45 min. They took more measurements of my eye and double checked my prescription. They asked me if I wanted some Valium to calm my nerves (I took it because I was nervous), they also gave me half of the medication i needed, some prescriptions, some goggles for wearing outside and when sleeping, and my drop schedule.

My drop schedule as follows:

- vigamox (4x per day, until day after contacts removed)
- Acuvail (2x per day, day 0 and day 1 only)
- Maxidex (4x per day, until day after contacts removed)
- Systane (4x per day or more if needed, I took it every 2 hours)

About 10 min after taking the Valium they took me into the surgery room. The Valium had not even kick in at that point.

On the operating chair they gave me some additional eye drops, put this tape over my eyelashes to keep them out of the way during the procedure.

After this, they used a pair of eye clamps to hold my eyelid open. This was the part I was most anxious about. It looked like a torture device. But honestly it was painless. Felt almost like I took my fingers to hold my eyelid open.

Once this was in, they took a qtip looking thing and swabbed my eye with it. This I didn’t even feel, but it looked weird having someone wiping your eye.

Then they counted down and the laser activated for 10-15 seconds or so.

Then they put some more drops in.

Then the laser activated again for about 5-10 seconds.

At this point my vision was very blurry. They poured a ton of liquid into my eye (this felt very refreshing), and put the bandage contact on.

After this they removed the clamp and did the same process on my left eye.

On the left eye, after the second laser, they started to poke and prod at my eye with some tool. It wasn’t painful but I felt like a tapping pressure.

When they took the clamps out of my left eye, the bandage contact fell off. They had to put it back in. This was actually the worst part of the procedure for me. It was very uncomfortable with them holding my eye open trying to place the contact back in manually. I imagine if you have wore contacts in the past, it wouldn’t bother you.

At this point an hour had not even passed since I arrived. The procedure took like 5 min.

Post surgery day 0:

No pain, but there was a feeling like I had an eyelash in my eye.

I was able to see quite well, but my eyes were super sensitive to light.

I felt very drowsy on the way home (the Valium started to kick in).

When I got home I basically just slept most of the day. Not much happened other than taking my eye drops.

Day 1:

Woke up at 4 am to a feeling I can only describe as “walking to your bathroom in the middle of the night and then turning the light on”. Except there was no light.

I took the Tylenol 3s they gave me to numb the feeling in my eyes. I couldn’t fall back asleep with that feeling otherwise.

Day 1 checkup with my optometrist. Not much to talk about here.

Throughout the rest of the day I had that feeling. So every 6 hours I took Tylenol 3s to suppress it. Vision was still okay at this point.

Day 2:

Day started off exactly the same as the previous day. After my first set of Tylenol 3s wore off, I noticed that the discomfort I was feeling was mostly gone. So I suffered through it drug free for the rest of the day.

In the evening, the discomfort had passed. My vision was getting hazy though, and I still had the feeling of debris or an eyelash in my eye.

Day 3-5:

No pain, vision still hazy. Same eyelash in eye feeling. On day 5 evening, right contact bandage fell out.
Eyelash feeling gone in that eye. But any time I took my prescription drops, it would sting.

Day 6:

Contact lenses taken out at my optometrist.

Left eye 20/30, right eye still very blurry. Both eyes appeared to have been fully healed. I was cleared to drive again.

Day 7:

Right eye miraculously improved overnight. It was about on par with my left eye. Last day of prescription eye drops. Both eyes sting when taking the drops.

Day 8 through 11 (today):

Eyesight gradually improving. Haven’t had any dry eye issues since day 8. Vision isn’t 20/20 yet, but it’s pretty close. I occasionally lose focus for a brief moment. I haven’t had haloing issues, but at night when driving bright lights definitely feel very bright.

I was told that my vision would continue to improve over the coming weeks. I’m hoping that I’ll end up with 20/20 or even better.

I never realized how bad accessibility support is in so many apps until I got laser eye surgery.

So i got PRK surgery on friday. And today was the first day my eyes have felt good enough to look at a screen.

I turned dynamic text to the max on friday before my surgery just in case i needed it, and oh boy did I need it.

Tried using some major apps like Uber eats, or even just general web browsing.

- no dynamic text support

- no dark mode

- etc...

Dark mode isn't even an accessibility feature and not having it felt like I was staring at the sun.

Dynamic text was the difference between me being able to read or not.

Its crazy how many of these large scale billion dollar apps are missing these features because they opted for their own UI style instead of just using the built in iOS UI components.

Every app I've ever worked on I always added dynamic text support because it was basically free to do so.

Eyedrop timing post op

So I had my prk surgery today. Went pretty smoothly. So far a tiny bit of light sensitivity, and feels like I have an eyelash in my eye.

My question is do I need to space out my eyedrops?

They gave me the following medication along with a schedule:

- Moxifloxacin
- Acuvail (antibiotic)
- Maxidex
- Systane (basic eye drops)

So for each of them, I was told to take them 4x per day. Once at breakfast, lunch, dinner and bedtime. Except for the acuveil which is twice a day.

But what I am unsure of is can I take all the drops at once or do I need to wait between each type? They did say a particular order to put them in but not if I need to wait between each.

So far I’ve been waiting 15 min between each to be safe.

PRK vs LASIK

I’m scheduled to get LASIK next month but I am having doubts.

When I did my consultation, the technician said my cornea was a bit thin and I might have to get PRK. The surgeon would evaluate and contact me.

I got an email the next day from the surgeon who said that LASIK would work for me and that I wouldn’t need to do PRK.

I’ve been doing more reading on both surgeries, and the idea of having a flap that could re-open sounds horrible. A few extra days of healing sounds like a good price to pay to not have structurally compromised eye tissue.

Anyone have any advice here? I’d like to potentially contact the clinic and see if I can swap to PRK.

Another piece of information that might be helpful:

I am a software engineer. So I spend a lot of time at a computer.

My surgery is scheduled for June 12th. I am planning on taking the Monday off as well (can probably take another day or two off as needed). With PRK will I be healed enough to resume work the following week?

There’s a brief clip of the cockpit of the m80. You can see on the MFD there are 4 guns.
