My Urtopia Fold 1 at golden hour, Dead Horse Ranch State Park

My Urtopia Fold 1 at golden hour, Dead Horse Ranch State Park

Behold the regal Fold 1, here now at Dead Horse Ranch State Park. Love my Urtopia Fold

Not a paid poster, I appreciate the quality of the construction and components, the weight and compact bundle that I can lift in and out of my suv, setup in seconds, and ride trails on my trips. The tires aren't wide or snobby enough for fine sand, but I have taken Urp (my nickname for the nike) to forests, crossed creeks, deserts and rocky trails with remarkable success.

My “backup hair” and honestly I love how it turned out

Picked up this new wig mainly for days/events where I actually wanna look a little put together without fighting with my real hair for hours lol. Tiny little win for the hair loss girlies 🫶

One lazy Beijing free day between work trips

I've been coming to Beijing for work for a dumb number of years now but my usual routine is airport, hotel, meetings, airport. This trip I finally had two days off so I grabbed a trip package online and carved out one full day to actually be a tourist. Should've done this ages ago.

Got to Temple of Heaven east gate around 7am, half awake, with baozi from Xiao Pang Baozi Wang that the package recommended. The park was already alive. Older locals doing their morning routines and one guy casually pulling off a full split while I was still trying to wake up. We took our time, walked around, took photos, just soaked it in. By the time we left it was almost noon.

Cabbed to Dashilan, wandered a bit, grabbed lunch. Nothing memorable. Headed to Nanluoguxiang after that. Touristy and crowded but good for grazing. Tanghulu, honey yogurt, some cheese dessert from a local shop. By evening we were stuffed so dinner wasn't happening.

Went straight to a bar the package recommended called Modernista. English menus, full of other tourists, retro vibe with a live band. It was a Tuesday and they had this painting thing going on where they brought in a model and gave everyone drawing supplies. Can't draw to save my life so I just watched. Whoever the model picked as the best got a shot with them. Genuinely fun even from the sidelines.

Called it a night after that. One day but it felt like a full trip. Already home and still thinking about it. Can't wait to go back to China.

how do you figure out your actual peak focus hours?

I keep hitting that random afternoon wall where I’m technically sitting at my desk, but my brain is basically offline. For a while I thought I just needed better discipline, but now I’m starting to think my work schedule is fighting my natural energy rhythm. I tried tracking it manually for a few days instead of relying on gadgets: every couple hours I rated my mental clarity from 1 to 10 and wrote down what I was doing. Not physical tiredness, more like “could I actually think clearly right now?” It was kind of annoying, but the pattern was obvious pretty fast. Some hours were good for writing or planning, some were better for emails and calls, and some were honestly only good for cleaning up small tasks

What helped most was matching tasks to those windows instead of treating the whole day like it should be equally productive. I’ve also been testing Timing because it lets me compare those energy notes with what I was actually doing on my laptop, which made it easier to spot when I was wasting my best focus time on random admin stuff. I’m not trying to turn this into a productivity app pitch — I’m mostly curious how other people figure this out. Are you a morning deep-work person, or does your brain only really wake up later in the day?

My cat bent my iPad by sitting on it

I use my iPad in bed most of time. I rarely take it out since graduation, so I removed the old case. This is the background. And recently I often wake up to find my cat sleeping on my iPad, but I figured it was fine, probably he just likes the metal back because it feels cool. Today, though, I noticed my iPad can’t lie flat on my desk and I realize it's bent! I think it’s because the bed is too soft, and the pressure wasn’t evenly distributed when my cat was on it… so it bent! I never expected this to happen...

What should I do now? Can I try to bend it back myself? Is there a risk of further damage? I definitely need to get a sturdy iPad case… Any recs for a thick, hard, solid iPad case, plz? I did some searching and right now I’m considering either Otterbox or ESR shift. If the quality isn’t that different, I’ll probably go with ESR cuz its price is more reasonable.

switched from condenser to dynamic and i kinda get the hype now

i swear dynamic mics are the only reason my friends can tolerate me on discord now

used condenser mics before and every single keyboard click sounded like gunshots. room noise too. absolute nightmare in a small apartment

been looking at those usb/xlr hybrid mics lately bc i kinda wanna upgrade my setup without going full audio nerd and buying 14 extra things. saw stuff from rode, fifine, boya etc and honestly they all start blending together after a while

kinda leaning toward a dynamic setup now just bc i stream at night and my room is never actually quiet

also why are boom arms weirdly expensive for just being metal sticks

Reliable everyday olive oil for home cooking?

I know this is more home kitchen than cook question, but figured this sub would have better taste than most grocery store reviews.

What olive oil do you keep around for everyday use at home?

I’m looking for something available in the US that works for basic cooking, finishing, and putting on the table when people come over. Nothing too peppery or bitter since my kids will eat it too.

I keep buying random bottles from the grocery store and the taste feels all over the place, even when I go back to brands I’ve bought before.

Curious what people here actually buy regularly for their own kitchen. Budget friendly would be ideal, but I’d rather pay a little more for something consistent.
