Couch gaming mic ideas?

Hello, I am a beginner. I understand how to use OBS and have a capture card I mess around with, the issue is when it comes to audio. Obviously on a desktop PC I have a headset and its easy peesy. HOWEVER, I have been streaming from the swtich 2 and some other devices on my couch I use a capture card and then run OBS on a laptop and it works. I bought some cheap magnetic LAV mics and they kind of work but I obviously get a slight echo from the mics picking up the TV audio.

The goal is to sit on the couch with my son and I really do like these clip on mics. We could probably use bluetooth earbuds or headsets but I'm really just trying to make this as simple as possible, it doesn't have to be like pro quality, I want it make it easy for us to just sit down and play .

If we were to set up 2 set of bluetooth headsets we would maybe have to use Voicemeeter Banana or whatever to both be able to hear ?

Is there any way to set this up without headphones and make it not echo y adjusting levels / etc. ?

Whats the best way to set up a couch gaming with 2 people mic'ed up for streaming?

Any other tips?

Thanks in advance

Fifine AM8: Keep using USB-C or get XLR?

I haven't started streaming yet. I actually mostly record and I might start streaming soon. I currently have a Fifine AM8, a mic that allows for USB-C audio or XLR audio. My plan for XLR would be to get awave xlr mk2. The benefits for me would be zero latency monitoring with effects (something not possible with USB-C). I probably wouldn't switch mics until this one craps out, so the upgrade would be years out. Is it smart for me with this use case to get a XLR interface?

Story: TIFU by buying my husband a webcam and ruining his self-esteem

So my husband is a big gamer and he's talked about trying out streaming for years (but never actually done anything about that). This year I decided to surprise him and got him a 4k webcam so he'd have something to play around with. Just as a fun gift. You know, plug it in, hop on with the boys, do a first time face reveal, that kind of thing.

Poor husband plugs it in, sees himself in 4k for the first time ever, and immediately has a mid-life crisis. He literally grabs the monitor and starts yelling, "OH MY GOD. YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING. YOU CAN EVEN SEE MY 5 O'CLOCK SHADOW. I'M GONNA HAVE TO SHAVE THE MOMENT BEFORE EVERY STREAM. IF IT GROWS OUT EVEN A MICROMETER YOU'RE GOING TO SEE THAT. IT'S SHOWING ME PIMPLES I DIDN'T KNOW I HAD. I DON'T EVEN SEE THAT WHEN I WASH MY FACE IN THE MIRROR IN THE MORNING. THIS THING IS MORE 4K THAN MY EYES."

Then out of nowhere he goes, "Oh but it captures my jawline pretty well. Look at that, that's pretty crisp. Oooh yeah look at that. I am the CRIMSON CHIN."

It's been over an hour now and he hasn't even opened a game. He's asked me four times whether his skin actually looks like that irl. He keeps going back and forth between mourning his skin and then stroking his jawline five minutes later. Right now he's just stuck in the stream settings, aggressively messing with filters and lighting to blur his pores. He's tweaked the color so much he looks completely orange.

Edit: He's now on his phone asking ChatGPT to make him a skincare routine. Send help.
Edit2: I got him the Yolocam S3 in case anyone was wondering

Too Early for a Charity Stream?

Hey! Ever since I started streaming, I had an idea with my 50th follower, and each consecutive 50 followers after that. As I near my 50th follower.. I'm getting a bit worried over the idea. Is it too early to even do a charity stream?

WFH background

I work from home most of the week and want to build a background that’s both professional but has personality. I realized recently that I’m basically a streamer; I just stream for my organization/coworkers

I’m thinking some art work and small gadgets. I work in tech / cyber security. Whatever I have in the background shouldn’t be distracting or mature in nature.

How do you find the right art, items, and wallpaper?

I have a standing desk so the angle changes

Best Tool/Site For Multichat?

Hi everyone! I'm a small streamer whose been streaming for the past couple of years.

A lot of my viewers keeps complaining I ignore their chat, but the issue is I'm not intentionally trying to ignore them. I'm a multi streamer and I have multiple tabs open of chats, and its hard to pay attention to all of them while playing my game.

I'm looking for a multi-chat tool that is super easy to set up. I've seen OBS setups, but I'm struggling to set them up. The streamlabs version always keeps glitching out.

Looking for any recommendations or advice. Thank you!

Just set up my streaming setup

I never managed to click "stream", but I have everything set up.

What are the best tips?

What widgets should I add?

I'm thinking of doing Twitch and YT at the same time.

My idea is a stream where viewers can tell me about their startup or startup idea, and on the spot I'll help connect them with the best collaborators and give some advise (even though im no expert) to help them get off the ground.

Would this be a good idea? Any tips on making this "game show" strategy better?

Question for gamer streamers - Do you rotate games? Or focus on one game until you finish?

Hello Game Streamers -

I'm a new streamer on YouTube, and as I stream games, I find myself rotating through games, but I wonder if that will hurt getting subscribers, views? Or is it more helpful?

Thanks for any input!

Music vs Just Chatting - Which Category would you choose?

For context: I've recently started a new music-based show where I take in viewer submissions and review/react to the music live on stream. The goal is to discover underground talent and educate the next generation of musicians. I bring on industry professionals for interviews, do instructional sessions like teaching DJ'ing, feedback, live beat making, performances, etc. We have professional level overlays and transitions. The show is heavily based around chatting with viewers and taking in submissions. 10% of the show revenue goes to support charitable music education initiatives. For reference, we're averaging about 8 viewers, maxed at 25, got our first affiliate sponsorship, and have gotten 70 subs plus various donations totaling up to about $200 total revenue over the course of the first 2 weeks streaming in the music section. Definitely seeing some traction.

For everything outside of the actual performances and live music making, I'm wondering if rather than the music section I should be in the Just Chatting section. The discoverability is good in music feedback, but the music section is so small and niche that I wonder if there will be a plateau. Alot of streamers I see in this section stay under 50 viewers with the really famous ones getting hundreds maybe a thousand or two viewers. The section is dominated by performance.

The old saying of "rather be a big fish in a small pond" pops in my mind but because the show is mostly listening and chatting about the music and production, I wonder if it would be a better fit for just chatting since it's a lot larger of a pool.

I would eventually like to branch out from just music and do IRL streaming at events I work/produce as well as gaming so I guess I'm wondering when I should really try to branch out.

My plan was to do the next 25 days straight in music and build the following more until I have to go away for 9 days to work sound for a music festival. Then when I get back come back to just chatting and try it then.

Thoughts? Comments? Concerns?

Need a reliable camera for long TikTok live streams that wont overheat. Budget $1200

Hey everyone,

I want to start doing TikTok Live streams for a few hours a day and I have zero experience with streaming gear. I need your help picking the right camera.

My priorities:

  1. No overheating - this is my biggest fear. Streams cant cut out.
  2. Good quality - needs to look clean and professional.
  3. Easy to use - preferably plug-and-play without a capture card if possible.

Budget is around $1200 USD for the camera. Can stretch a bit for essentials.

I've read the Panasonic GH5 and GH6 are good. Are they actually worth it for live streaming? Also, would a dedicated video recorder (Atomos, Blackmagic, etc.) be a smarter move to bypass recording limits and prevent overheating? I'm open to mirrorless, camcorders, or recorder setups. Just need something reliable that wont die mid-stream.

Also, what accessories (lighting, mic, etc.) are absolute must-haves that I should budget for?

Thanks for helping out a total newbie!

Best muktistreaming App Android?

Hi everyone! 😄

I'm looking for the best multistreaming app to stream simultaneously to YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and ideally TikTok as well.

My priorities are:

- Reliable and easy to use

- Free if possible, or at least low-cost

- Good video quality

- Works well for live streaming to multiple platforms at once

What are you using, and what would you recommend? Any hidden gems or apps to avoid?

Thanks a lot in advance! 🍻 Looking forward to your recommendations!

How do I get rid of the "no views=failure" mindset?

I want to start live streaming me playing video games since I play games all the time and I figured might as well stream it, as a hobby not a job. The only thing stopping me is the mindset of "no one will watch" and I know that going into streaming with the mindset is the wrong reason. In reality I don't care about getting paid for it, but it's that mindset that keeps me from actually going through with it. Also, my reactions to certain moments in playing are genuine not like the YouTubers you see that exaggerate everything so I'm not sure how that'll work. For now I don't plan on showing my face or even my voice, but down the road who knows. Anyways, how can I get rid of the mindset I'm having? Thank you!

Variety or consistency?

I love to play a variety of games and can comfortably play something different each day, but I worry that for streaming, changing it too much will limit how often my streams can be reached by people. I’m not worried on having loads of people watching as I’m still relatively new to it, but would like to reach an audience eventually.
So I was wondering if it’s generally recommended to stick to a few games or if it’s okay to play a wide variety.
