RealView compatible GPUS

Recently built my own PC to move away from laptops, however I do miss RealView as it’s not enabled with my gaming focused card. I spent the last several years modeling with it and got used to having it enabled so I would like it back.

I’m looking to decide on a compatible GPU that I can run solidworks with to reenable RealView. Going back to my laptop isn’t viable as it’s dying and I’d prefer to have an all-in-one.

I do have space available on the motherboard and on the PSU so I’m hoping to just plug and play. I have seen “tricks” to get it working on non certified machines but I’d rather not use those methods.

Mesh side case, is this a good setup for fans?

3 140mm front intake, 2 140mm side intake, 1 140mm high rear exhaust, 2 180mm top exhaust.

The hope is with enough fans, I can run these guys real quiet.

Keep waiting or buy now?

I was looking at the black one, but it’s gone up about $80. The white one (which is exactly the same as far as I can tell) is the price it was before.

Should I buy the white one now or keep waiting incase they do come down?

First time pc build.

I’ve been poking at actual desktops as my laptop is showing signs of hardware failure and while the portability was nice, I went so few places with it that it’s just not something I value anymore.

My dad works IT and has been for the last 20 years, he’s recommending AM4 and DDR4 to save money. I’ve looked around PcPart and it does look like they’re cheaper than the 5’a right now. With a budget of $2,000 USD, is a mid range pc possible?

I have the weird requirement of needing both multi and single thread performance since I do a lot of hobby modeling. I’ve looked at prebuilts but 90% of what I’m finding is am5 and ddr5 and costs more than 2k. They’re also way too rgb intensive and I frankly despite rgb.

Correction: by mid range, I’m meaning 60-144fps and 1080p.

Socket wrench doesn’t pull tires in cali 2.

Is this intentional? I haven’t found any wheels lying around but I’ve got cars with missing wheels.

Stories from Highway 7 Part 1: You’re Never Actually Alone on the Lonely Stretch.

This is a new mini series I’m starting work on. Each story will take place in the same general area of the fictional county Prechet Minnesota. Every story is mainly writing practice and while it won’t be daily, every single story will be written in a single day. Quality is not guaranteed but is hoped for.

There’s a small section of highway out here, only about twenty miles. It cuts right through the mountains and used to be well traveled. It was built in the 1880s as a logging route for companies in the mountains and when the industry dried up, it was extended to meet the major highway on the other side of the mountain range. There were stories of loggers disappearing if they traveled the road solo, even the workers that built it weren’t safe. Some said it was the work of the Prechet Monster, a being not of this world that caused avalanches, broke down trees, and that anyone who crossed it would go missing. They said that if you were traveling alone and the road got quiet, you wouldn’t be coming back. Nobody ever saw it, but they attributed sweeping paths of destruction down the mountain to it. Historical experts believe this was just a ghost story to scare new workers and teach them about avalanches. The stories dried up around the time logging ended and the road got busier with the advent of cars so its legend faded into obscurity.

In the modern era, the legend is more fact than fiction. Since the bypass, traffic is less common, and solo travelers more common.
Disappearances have spiked, but many are quick to dismiss the old legend. I didn’t, I thought there was something else out there, something real. So I proved it, I went on the mountain pass alone.

The winter has been bad this year so I made preparations. Five days of food and water, my grandfathers hunting rifle, a CB radio, emergency flares, one rocket type and ten gun type, as well as two spare Jerry cans. My truck was already equipped for bad weather, it was necessary as plows were slow to make it to us. It’s an older, lifted 4x4, big snow tires and chains, a main light bar on top and a spare police spot light. Bumper mounted winch up front, two spare tires and the equipment to use them on the roof. I made my first stop by the highway entrance I had to be alone to see anything, so I waited for the other cars to drive out of sight before I pulled into the road. I have included my written logs for you to peruse.

December 10, 6:20 PM

First log of Highway 7 aka the Lonely Highway. I will start down the road soon, cars are still present but thinning out. Snow is falling but lightly, weatherman predicts clear night.

December 10, 7:13 PM

Log two of Highway 7, I have stopped roughly five miles deep to write this. Traffic cleared at 6:49 and I entered. It was not empty, a hitchhiker stood at the road side two miles ago. Dressed in tattered clothes resembling what I’ve seen in photos of 19th century miners. I did not stop.

December 10, 7:49 PM

Log 3 of Highway 7, one hour has passed, based on the roads length and my speed, I should have exited the road by now. Its curves haven’t repeated yet, but every time I pass one, more road hiding behind it appears. Radio stations all intact, winter storm warning issued ten minutes ago. I turned the truck off to listen, I hear a wolf howl. I am not alone yet.

December 10, 8:49 PM

Log 4 of Highway 7, two hours elapsed since entry, odometer states I have driven 49 miles. The sun is leaving me and the light bar is useless. The storm has worsened and conditions are approaching whiteout. If I use the light, it would only blind me. I will continue for one more hour with hazards and reduced speed.

December 10, 9:53 PM

Log 5 of Highway 7, I am stopped for a nap on the side of the road. Snowfall has stopped, about five inches, not the worst storm. I don’t have cell service and there’s no response on CB. No animal sounds either, I am officially alone.

December 11, 12:10 AM

Log 6 of Highway 7, I am not alone. At 11:49 pm, I awoke from my nap to the crunch of snow outside my truck. I couldn’t see anything around my truck, but I could hear it. Heavy footfalls and the crunch of snow are so loud I could follow it. All it did was circle me for about five minutes. I took a chance when it was behind me and floored it. I don’t know if that was the Prechet Monster, but something was out there.

December 11, 6:13 AM

Log 7 of Highway 7, after my nightly encounter, I spent the time between logs driving. I still am not out of the mountains. Monster or not, I am worried. I did prepare for five days, but I was sure it was going to go to waste. Had an MRE for breakfast, cheese omelet, could be worse.

December 11, 8:49 AM

Log 8 of Highway 7, my most recent encounter has not been pleasant. The highway ahead was blocked, trees were strewn across the road. I got out and had a survey, from the east, a path of destruction came. Trees were fallen over and broke like something massive pushed them aside. The trail contained over the highway, where I found pot holes and splintering cracks in the asphalt. Beyond the west side, the path continued up the mountain, I lost track of where it went and returned to my truck. I thought on trying to find away around before I took a second look up the west mountain. A tree was there one second, then gone the next, avalanche. I got in my truck, spun around, and raced away. The road back the way I came doesn’t look familiar either. I have been stalked, witness to disaster, and now believe I’ve managed to get lost on a two lane road with no turn offs.

December 11, 10:15 AM

Log 9 of Highway 7, I passed the hitchhiker from before, shouldn’t have, I’ve driven too far for too long for him to be here already. I might pick him up, I don’t know.

December 11, 10:49 AM

Log 10 of Highway 7, I went back and picked him up. Within ten minutes, we were back where I entered. Like just having someone else was enough to ward the anomaly away. When I turned back onto the road away from the highway, he was just gone. I looked left to take my turn, looked right and the passenger seat was empty. I don’t know who it was, never said a word.

End of Logs.

I plan on going back, I know more now and can prepare better. My odometer shows I drove 290 miles in total, I wasn’t even on the road for that long but that’s still fourteen times its real length. Next time, I’m going to try going as far as I can without any stops.

In need of scenarios.

I’m currently writing what I think is technically an anthology. I’m going to give a bunch of context to make this easier.

The main idea is every narrator we have is cursed die by the end of their story. The first part features the final day of an old man who briefly reunite with his son before dying in bed with his wife. Then we switch to the son who is a priest. What I want to do, is as he explores the house he once called home, he finds objects related to family members who died in the past. When he interacts with it, he sees the ghost of the ancestor that relates to the item.

Take my first instance of this, he finds and old car he doesn’t recognize in the barn of the farm he’s at and when he sits inside, he sees the ghost of someone he was related to and passes out. When the story is over and he comes back, he’ll have noticed clues to help him put each spirit to rest. He’s a priest after all, someone’s got to release their spirits.

When he’s done, more exploring happens and he finds the next spirit and object. What I’m asking for help with, is more scenarios. I need more ideas for what he could find and what happened to the person related to the objects he finds.

I plan for a final part where he takes all of the objects and some ritual happens where he ends the curse on his family line by sacrificed so they can’t be super big things, they need to be mobile or small. Think car as the upper limit.

Meet an early version of the new 2072 Sapien Sabertooth!

To accommodate and allow myself new styles, I’m introducing an experimental futuristic brand I’m calling Sapien.

This will pull my old 2077 Chyta and Mammoth from Henderson Motors to umbrella my futuristic under one roof!

The Sabertooth need more work to futuristic gubbin it up, but I’m happy with the base I’m working with.

I plan to add a truck based on my old Bowman that I plan to call the Mastadon, and a minivan I don’t have a name for yet, but the theme is animals, prehistoric or otherwise.

Maybe I’ll make a super car as well.
