Im dutch and wife is from Hong Kong. Whenever im there I must eat with her family cause is a high form of respect for me, the visitor. Problem is I really dont like the food at all, never did. We 've been togehter 10 years and even thoug they know I dont like the food, they always end offedring me over and over the same. I know that for some asian countries eating together is important and a way of showing love, but sometimes if frustates me that they keep on offering, knowing I dont like it, and sometimes even make fun of that. Any people recognize this, white western man with asian (china/hong kong) wife or am I just being a wanker about it? For the record I do try to eat with them, everything they offer, but I just dont like it. I am very open and love to talk about my emotions; thats also something that usually is not common in china or HK. For me it feels like: shut up and eat.
