SoBo vs Cap Hill

Hi all, you might have read my earlier message about moving from Texas to Denver. I’m looking at apartments in SoBo and Cap Hill. The job is close to centennial so I can’t do highland or RiNo. I like the idea of being close to Wash Park for activities and walking, I want walkability ideally.

Safety and car theft are primary concerns, but I’m looking to move where my apartment and neighborhood are filled with late twenties singles I can make friends with. I’m currently in a suburb of Dallas where there are absolutely no young people and I want to avoid finding a repeat situation. I’m an attorney so it would be fun to meet other professionals.

Would either of these neighborhoods be good for a single guy in his late twenties? Any other recs? Thank you.

Risk-takers: am I making the right call?

Late twenties, making $160k in Texas. I have an offer in a Denver suburb for $140k. Right now I’m
Planning on moving. Cost of living higher, no family in Colorado. This would be my adventure and a huge risk for me. No parent to support or bail me out if I fail, been living in hometown my whole life. I really like the idea of living in a new city with mountain access after being in blistering Texas for so long. I like the idea that it would be relatively easier to make friends and do activities that aren’t eating and drinking. But with moving and the immense cost and risk of not liking the area (assuming I even love the job), is this a bad idea? Would appreciate people who have made a leap of faith to weigh in on how it was worth it or not. Thanks!

Edit: thank you all so much for your kind words and encouragement. This has been a really anxious but exciting thought for me but I really appreciate you all pouring in. I hope to meet many of you when I come!

Just bought an “excellent” condition SKS—is this pin cracked?

Bought a norinco SKS a week ago for an expensive price bc of the dried up market. Part of price was excellent condition of stock, bore, no rust or oxidation, etc. Didn’t disassemble it at the FFL and just did a first take down to get any remaining cosmoline. Saw what looks like a cracked pin. Don’t want to use a punch on it. Look like I need a replacement?

What is this mark?

Got a No4 Mk 1. On bottom near trigger guard is this symbol. Anyone know what it means? Looks like a cross of Lorraine.

Easy Apply Vanished

On Apple laptop chrome tab and there is no option to find easy apply or filter by easy apply. I checked my phone app and it was still there but kept crashing. Because of the crashes I updated the app and now there’s no easy apply on my iPhone. Does anyone have a solution?.

No magazine? Serial on bolt value?

Have my eyes on two Enfield bolts. Both unfortunately not cheap but good quality. One has a non-matching bolt with its own serial number. The other has a non-matching bolt with no serial number. Neither one has a magazine.

I’ve looked at buying a separate No. 4 mag and they’re all insanely expensive for a rust bin. Is that what I need, can a pro mag be doable, or what’s the best move there? Never done this before and am concerned on getting a bad mag.

Finally is the serial numbered bolt a deciding factor for a difference of $200?

Thanks!

First CCW Choice Help

Average size guy looking for first CCW purchase. Looking for pocket or belt carry for business casual, going out, and walking/exercise. $700 budget and want to avoid Sig.

First I thought Bodyguard was best option but have seen hate as to reliability. Questioning quality control of S&W.

Apart from reliability, weight and size are also important. Looking at:

  • M&P Bodyguard 2.0
  • M&P Shield 9
  • M&P Shield 380 EZ
  • Glock 43
  • HK CC9
  • FN509C

Let me know thoughts, comments, recs, please! Thanks.

Need to make sure I don’t damage the gun

Noob. I got an SP5 and have done a strip and removed the shipping oil all over it. Applied thin layer of Lucas CLP to all metal areas, BCG, etc. then applied thin amount of Lucas Gun Oil. Reassembled.

Is this ok to fire based off that? Or do I need to redo it with a different brand like Hoppes? I also have the M Pro line of cleaners and would like to use those next time. Just don’t want to damage the gun at my first time on range.
