Casual

Did you think you were running circles
When you told me you had a vacant heart
This was never meant to go past September
But you talked about what kind of parents we’d be
And asked if we’d be together if we met at a different time
So how could I not remember
Your hands as you reached for mine
“I’m not trying to fall in love” you said for the millionth time
I still care for you as if you were mine

Did you laugh all the times I showed you affection
Or filled you with love and words of affirmation
As your dependency grew while you denied detachment
Sincere in the moment and you claimed you were acting
Spinning a story for your friends but I was there and we both know what happened
You’re only a little kid
Who’s scared of getting abandoned

How do you know when you like someone and when you’ve fallen for someone? What’s the difference?

I’ve been going on dates with someone 2-3 times a week for about a month and prior to this we’ve been talking for a few months. We go on dates and talk deeply about things and feel attraction towards one another. I think talking to each other prior has helped build the foundation of knowing one another and so the getting to know you phase has for the most part passed and now we just spend time with one another.

Now I’m wondering well what’s next? I enjoy spending time with them and I like them but my feelings don’t go beyond this. How do people even get to the love stage and fall for someone if everything’s been consistent and nothings changed. Wouldn’t it have shown up already? It makes me wonder if love is just simply attachment that grows after spending time with someone for I don’t feel love either at this point and I know she doesn’t either.

You always hear people say they will do things casually meaning they can like the person but that they don’t plan to fall in love and fall for the person. Well what’s the difference?

If I’ve been consistent and they still haven’t fallen for me, does that mean it’s never going to happen?

I’ve been seeing this girl for a month now. Seeing each other 2-3 times a week but we have been talking for 3 months prior to this. Due to our commitments, we agreed on this being a short term casual but open to seeing where things go kind of arrangement. I guess this is a situationship. She also opened up about how she doesn’t want to fall in love and get hurt whereas I’m against us dating at the moment for logistic reasons but I do like her and am not against falling for someone.

We go on dates and talk deeply about things and feel attraction towards one another. I think talking to each other for 3 months has helped build the foundation of knowing we are both showing up authentically with one another and the getting to know you phase has for the most part passed.

Now I’m wondering well what’s next? How do people even get to the love stage and fall for someone if everything’s been consistent. Wouldn’t it have shown up already? I don’t feel love either at this point and I know she doesn’t either. Does love just grow from attachment, or is there something else needed? Because the way I see it, we both like each other and so we see each other, but what does it even meant to fall for someone?

If I’ve (27F) been consistent and they (26F) still haven’t fallen for me, does that mean it’s never going to happen?
