7 days in Santa Teresa Gallura – what shouldn’t we miss? 🇮🇹🏖️

Hi everyone!

My wife, our 8-month-old daughter and I will be spending 7 days in Santa Teresa Gallura in early September. We’ll have a rental car and are really looking forward to exploring the area, but also don’t want to turn the trip into a checklist and spend every day driving around.

What we’re mainly looking for:

  • Beautiful beaches –> Rena Bianca is obviously on our list, but we’d love to hear about your favorite beaches/bays within around 30–45 minutes by car. Especially places that are beautiful but maybe not the first thing you find on Google.
  • Food –> Great pizza is very important to us, but also pasta, gelato, bakeries etc. We’d much rather eat somewhere simple and genuinely good than somewhere fancy. Our highest prio are probably pizza and gelato
  • Agriturismo –> We’d love to do one traditional agriturismo dinner or lunch. Any favorites around Santa Teresa?
  • A short boat trip –> La Maddalena/Archipelago looks incredible. Since we’re traveling with a baby, we’re thinking more along the lines of a relaxed half-day/small boat trip rather than being on a crowded boat for 8 hours. Any recommendations?
  • Little trips, villages and viewpoints –> Places worth visiting for a few hours, maybe combined with lunch or dinner. We even thinking about a ferry trip to f.e. Bonifacio but are not too sure if it's worth.
  • Your personal hidden gems –> Tiny restaurant, bakery, sunset spot, farm shop or whatever you personally love in the area.

We’ll be based in Santa Teresa for the entire week and are completely fine driving 30–45 minutes for something that’s really worth it.

At the moment, we could imagine spending around 3 days just enjoying Santa Teresa itself, especially Rena Bianca, and trying some of the local pizza and gelato spots (recommendations very welcome!). Maybe one day exploring La Maddalena.. probably taking the car on the ferry, although we’re wondering whether leaving the car in Palau (or even in Santa Teresa) and using buses on the island might actually be the better option. Another day could be a different beautiful beach combined with an agriturismo in the evening. We’re even wondering whether a day trip all the way to Alghero would be worth the 2–3 hour drive each way with a baby. We’re still pretty undecided about the whole week.

Originally, we had planned to stay in San Teodoro for all 7 days, but because there’s a festival happening there at the same time, we decided to choose a different town in the hope of having a slightly quieter and more relaxed base.

If you had 7 days in Santa Teresa Gallura, what would you absolutely eat, see or do, and what would you skip? Or should we even reconsider our plans altogether and stay somewhere else on the island instead?

Grazie! :)

San Teodoro during SUNANDBASS with a baby – stay or go somewhere else?

Hi everyone! We’ll be in Sardinia for 8 days from September 4th, flying into Olbia and renting a car. We’re traveling with our baby (8 months at this time) and originally thought San Teodoro would be perfect -> until we realized our dates basically overlap with a festival / SUNANDBASS. 😅

What we’re looking for is:

  • Some of the most beautiful beaches in Sardinia – turquoise, clear water, sandy and easy to access with a baby (no hiking/boat required)
  • A baby/family-friendly area
  • A town with lots of restaurants, pizzerias, gelaterias and pasticcerias, ideally enough that we can walk somewhere for dinner or ice cream in the evening
  • Not completely isolated – we like having some life around us, just not a party destination
  • Ideally not too far away from the airport

Without the festival, San Teodoro sounded almost perfect. But with ~2000 additional festival visitors staying in the area for the week, we’re wondering if the beaches, restaurants and town will feel significantly more crowded and whether accommodation/prices will be inflated.

Would you still choose San Teodoro with a baby during SUNANDBASS? Or would you pick Budoni, Orosei/Cala Liberotto, or somewhere completely different?

We don’t necessarily need somewhere too quiet – the combination of amazing beaches + great food + a nice town to walk around in the evening is much more important to us.

We’d be really grateful for any advice or recommendations! 😊

Hanuta Plant Based - Gibt es noch irgendwo Restbestände?

Hallo zusammen,

Habt vielen Dank :)

Could this be ocular/periorbital rosacea? Persistent red patch near one eye for 8 weeks.

Hi everyone,

I'm wondering whether this could possibly be a form of ocular or periorbital rosacea, even though I'm not completely convinced myself.

For about 8 weeks I've had a persistent red patch near one eye (photos attached).

Symptoms:

  • Small red patch near the outer upper eyelid / eyebrow area
  • Only affects one eye
  • Always the exact same location
  • Occasionally mild itching or burning
  • Most of the time I barely notice it
  • No major swelling
  • No eye pain
  • No vision changes

What makes me unsure about rosacea:

  • No diagnosed rosacea
  • No facial flushing
  • No obvious triggers such as exercise or heat
  • No dandruff/scaling around the eyebrows

I've already tried:

  • Doing nothing for 1–2 weeks
  • Toleriane Rosaliac
  • Allergika Eyelid Cream
  • Dermosan
  • Zinc ointment for about 2 weeks
  • Ketoconazole shampoo (Ketozolin) for 3 weeks
  • Ofloxacin eye ointment for 7 days

None of these made a meaningful difference.

I also saw an ophthalmologist who found:

  • No stye
  • No infection
  • No inflammation inside the eye
  • Otherwise normal exam

At this point I'm planning to see a dermatologist, but before I do:

Has anyone with rosacea had something that looked similar?
Can rosacea present as a small persistent red patch like this around only one eye without the usual flushing symptoms?

Any thoughts or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Persistent red patch near one eye for 8 weeks. Ophthalmologist couldn't identify it. Looking for ideas before seeing a dermatologist.

Hi everyone,

I've had a small red patch near my right eye for about 8 weeks and haven't been able to figure out what it is.

Symptoms:

  • Small red patch near the outer upper eyelid / eyebrow area
  • Sometimes mildly itchy or burning
  • Most of the time I barely notice it
  • Always the exact same location
  • Only one eye is affected
  • No significant swelling
  • No eye pain
  • No vision issues

An ophthalmologist examined me and found:

  • No stye
  • No infection
  • No inflammation inside the eye
  • Otherwise normal eye exam

Things I've already tried:

  • Doing nothing for 1–2 weeks
  • La Roche-Posay Toleriane Rosaliac
  • Allergika Eyelid Cream
  • Dermosan
  • Zinc ointment for about 2 weeks
  • Ofloxacin eye ointment for 7 days

None of these made any meaningful difference.

Additional information:

  • No dandruff or scaling in the eyebrows
  • No known rosacea
  • No facial flushing
  • No worsening during exercise
  • Never used topical steroids
  • No new detergent, bedding or skincare products
  • Using ketoconazole shampoo (Ketozolin) for the last 3 weeks
  • Replaced all old towels about 4 weeks ago now changing the new ones every other day

At this point I'm wondering whether this could be:

  • Contact dermatitis
  • Periorbital dermatitis
  • Some kind of chronic eczema
  • Folliculitis
  • Something else entirely

Has anyone experienced something similar or have suggestions on what a dermatologist should specifically check for?
