I'm in

So my quest on Linux begins.

I made a post some days back about the issue I was having on the installation, I didn't got one single response :,v, but after some reading I was able to resolve it.

My disk was MBR and didn't had EFI partition, so I took it out and changed the configuration via CMD on windows, I changed the disc to GPT and give it FAT32 format with EFI partition, then I put it on the laptop again and the installation went smoothly after that.

Is a DELL with Celeron (2 cores), 4GB of RAM DDR3, and 120GB SSD SATA, everything work just fine.

Now to learn everything so I can say goodbye to windows on all my computers, specially my gaming Laptop

Undervolting on Lenovo LOQ (RTX 5050 - Core i5 13450HX)

Some days ago I made a post asking opinions about undervolting de CPU/GPU of my laptop, I got great responses in here, but on another reddit someone took notice of my laptop being from México (I'm from México) and he told me to try this software called LegionSpace included with the machine, so I did, he also helped me with the values he used on his Laptop (Also a Lenovo LOQ same GPU but i7HX CPU), so I tried and I was impressed with the results, I'm gonna try and show you.

Lenovo comes with this software called LegionSpace, in it you have "modes"or "profiles", the stock ones are Quiet, Balanced and Performance modes/profiles, but there is an aditional one called "Costumize" (I'm guessing that's what is called in english, my app is in spanish)

In this Costume Mode/Profile there is a legend telling you that any changes on this costume configuration can damage components or data loss and the warranty wil be voided, well fuck that cause that's where the magic happens.

You can set specific temps and watts for the GPU and CPU, and control the RPM of the fans accordin to the temps of the CPU/GPU

Everything was tested with Pragmata:

Before the changes (first Pragmata image) the temps where between:

CPU 85°-90°

GPU 87°-92°

After the changes (second Pragmata image) the temps won't go over 72° (Ray Tracing enabled), at the end I had to turn off Path Tracing cause the latency, but I keept Ray Tracing ON, and the temps are still great and my FPS went up, so I think this is a very good alternative to undervolting cause I just change the costumize mode/profile for gaming and change it back to one of the stock ones for everything else with just one click of the mouse.

Would you say the same? or, do you think I should do the undervolting with intel and MSI software?

Should I undervolt my CPU/GPU???

Hi everyone, I hope you can help me decide if I should undervolt the CPU and GPU on my laptop.

In preparation for AC Black Flag Resynced I was testing what the laptop could do by using and twerking the graphic options inside Pragmata, and I got some serious results on the performance of the laptop as a hole but I'm concerned about the temps and the overall feeling of the game, and I realy wnat to play Black Flag Resynced on my laptop (also is the only option I have), the specs are the following:

  • Core i5 13450-HX 2.4GHz
  • Nvidia RTX 5050 8GB
  • 24GB RAM DDR5 4800 MT/s (two 12GB cards)
  • NVMe M2 2TB SSD 7000 (for games, the sistem is running on another NVMe)
  • Is a Lenovo LOQ 15IRX10 (Here in México the display is 1080p, 144Hz, NO HDR)

On the images you can see the Nvidia statistics (bothom corner) on some different scenarios, for everyone to have an idea of the voltage, watts and temps on the GPU, everything is running wit DLSS 4.5 and framegeneration 4X with Ray Tracing, Path Tracing and Ray Reconstruction enabled:

  • 1st image is inside with no action
  • 2nd is the same scenario with action and some light
  • 3rd, 4th are outside static and then moving
  • 5th, 6th are outside with at least 4 enemies and then using a shootgun
  • 7th is outside in fast movement with RT/PT refelections
  • 8th and 9th are on the same spot in battle and then the exploding effect
  • 10th are my settings

So my questions are:

  • Should I undervolt both the CPU and GPU?
  • It won't affect the overall performance in other tasks or games?
  • How can I undervolt, or if anyone had already undervolt the exact same chips for the same purpose and can share with me the values and tools to do it?

Thanks in advance to everyone responding to my doubts, have a great day and even greater gaming sessions everyone

Suggestions about performance and temps for LOQ 15IRX10 (México model, specs on the text bellow)

Hi everyone, I hope you can help me with suggestions and opinions about the performance of my laptop.

  • 5th, 6th are outside with at least 4 enemies and then using a shootgun
  • 7th is outside in fast movement with RT/PT refelections
  • 8th and 9th are on the same spot in battle and then the exploding effect
  • 10th are my settings

So my questions are:

  • Am I forcing the Laptop to much (RT/PT/RR enabled)?
  • Should I play with lower settings?
  • Should I undervolt my CPU and GPU? (BTW, I haven't done it, ever, and I would appreciate some info about it, or straight information for my exact laptop model)
  • And do you think a cooling pad will help with the temps?

Thanks in advance to everyone responding to my doubts, have a great day and even greater gaming sessions everyone
