A pod of killer whales, which included amongst its members a distinctive male called Old Tom, would assist whalers in hunting baleen whales.

For the old bastards among us who were part of "the scene" in the 80s and 90s, this trip down memory lane may ease any sadness one feels at the shame, shame, shame that we have lost respected journalist and niggle merchant Mr Hinch.

I remember being in awe of this demo when it came out. We had a great scene in Australia at the time, but it was usually the Euros who were putting out stuff of this quality.

Along with the Vizard demo, this was one of the more memorable moments in the A500 demoscene in Australia.

When he said "every player is important, no-one is entitled to the shirt, and each game is different" one wonders how News could spin it as an evasive answer.

I come in peace, with an offer of generational hatred.

The "banter" by the US pundits has been as sustained and disrespectful as it has been curious.

The response from the US Football Team players has been understated, respectful and professing ostensible bewilderment as to the punditry. Rather "unAmerican" one may say.

Let us forget the latter and focus on the former, and get a proper football rivalry going that will sustain us all for decades to come, and will not be settled until one of us wins The World Cup.

We don't really have a football rival that we love to properly hate, like we do in cricket and rugby, but there is an opportunity here, a position open.

Let us forge a hatred that will feed the appetites of our respective fans for many a moon.

Does anyone have a link to a list of pubs/clubs or other venues that will be showing the games live and who have a good football crowd?

I was struck in the sticks last World Cup and watched the games from the couch, due to the only pub declaring they they don't play "poofter sport" on the big screen despite regularly showing the AFL.

Happily this time around, I will be close to civilisation in northern NSW and southern QLD.

If there isn't yet a list of places that will be showing games live, is it possible to get one going in this sub?
