Critter update II: How did I ever survive without someone comfort me while I do my business?

Everyone needs a bathroom buddy. Surely this was what everyone was thinking about when adopting a Velcro cat/s

Critter update: we are besties now but only by my scent and as long as I don't stand at my full hight

Honeybee was initially terrified but randomly broke and started rolling all over me and begging for pets. I have been letting her smell me often but this time was different I guess. I was trying to play with her with one of her old toys so maybe her old owners scent mixed with mine finally made her figure it out.

She still hides and hisses when I first come in. But comes out as soon as she sniffs me and resumes rolling all over me. I'll probably replace the door with a tall gate since I think it's the problem.

She also gets offended when I stand at my full height and hisses, like I catfished her by crouching. But I figure that's just cat stuff. My snakes do the same thing even after 4 years with them so I'm used to that.

I'm going to let her roam tomorrow since my roommates are gone for a few days. Probably still going to keep her in her room when unattended for a bit longer since she's a bit flighty yet, but I'm super excited about our progress.

I brought my creature home! She's absolutely terrified of everyone and everything but I love her

She was very quiet in the car and is still pretty quiet (for now). She's just been hiding thus far, but she does turn into a dinosaur at night. I haven't convinced her to eat yet, so if you have tips do share, but I'm not worried yet because she was just through a whole ordeal and it's been less than 24 hours.

It's taking me everything in my power to not try to scoop her up and cuddle her but she needs to be left alone for a bit so I'm just stalking her through the cameras for now.

Transitioning an adult OSH to a new home and owner?

I'm adopting an OSH from someone who can't keep theirs anymore. We are still talking things through and we aren't 100% but we are at about 99%. I've been looking into them for years and years but was waiting for the perfect chance to adopt one. And now I am finally getting my chance!

She's about a year old so she's technically an adult and has lived with her owner for a bit already. I know they tend to bond very closely to their owners and I'm worried about the grief it may cause, even if it's a necessary evil.

I'll be keeping her in her own room while she adjusts and hanging out with her to explore slowly, and I've gotten some new toys and furniture for her and I've got books to read if she just wants to sit for a while, but I still can't help but feel bad. I'm also going to send a blanket so she can get my scent before meeting me. She said she's a bit shy so I want to do everything I can to make her comfortable in an uncomfortable situation.

Is there anything else can I do to help ease her transition?

Halfway through a 101 degree day with this route. No it's not going well

This is my second day working. Yesterday was 160 and I thought that was a lot. Got done 15 minutes early yesterday and now I'm being punished with more.

Will they still make me come into work tomorrow if I die?

I know I complained about them overusing boxes, but why did they just throw this one in a bag like a goldfish??

Not even vacuum sealed. Just a sketchy bag with a sack inside

Also want to clarify that this wasn't even in a tote. This was overflow. Just vibing loose in my van

u/YourFavoritestMe — 2 months ago

Are we allowed to do this?

I'm so fuckin tired of these massive ass, poorly sealed boxes being used for dog food. Like it's dog food, it's not gonna break, it doesn't need padding.

So anyway it fell out and since I don't have any fuckin space in my van with prime day and all I just caved and slapped the label on there. Might get shit for it but I'm just trying to survive right now.

Told myself I won't be getting any more reptiles for a while. So anyway, this is Muggins

Originally I didn't want to get any other reptiles for a bit because I got PVC enclosures that perfectly fit into one space and are absolutely flawless looking and didn't want to ruin the asthetic, buuuuuut I accidentally fell in love with this one and it just so happens that there's a perfect glaringly empty spot for her next to my reading nook. So she's my new reading buddy. Hopefully she likes romantasy and dragons as much as I do.

She (I think she) ended up needing to come to work with me after I picked her up at the post office since they called me in early and I didn't want her to stay in the warehouse overnight since it's hot AF, but nobody seemed to care and she seemed happy to nap in her box (as long a I didn't make eye contact). But she made it home safely. Shes has been eating well and she's always out as soon as I get home from work. Most of my reptiles either haven't woken up yet or went to bed by the time I get home so her timing is absolutely perfect and I always check on her before bed.

She's still settling in so I haven't interacted with her much but I can't wait to get to know her more once her adjusting period is finished. So far I'm in love even at a distance. She's my first new Caledonia gecko so I'm very excited to be part of the gang. Always wanted a crestie but I would probably kill myself if one lost its tail and wouldn't grow back, I already get pretty distraught when one of my other reptiles loose their tails, so this is a good compromise.

She's a Sarasins giant gecko (sarasinorum/Sara)

(Also want to clarify that the tank in the first pic is not her current tank, just wanted to escape proof her current one before putting her in)

Some guy on Facebook gave me some dead birds for free. How do I begin cleaning them up?

They are quite dusty and a little discolored, but since they look so old I want to be careful not to make the issues worse. I was going to spray them with mount protector and brush the feathers with a toothbrush but other than that I'm not sure what to do with them. I haven't done anything related to birds before so any tips are appreciated.

There's no way that's a comfortable sleeping position. Tf was she hoping to achieve.

This is the second thing I saw when I woke up btw. The first was her staring me down. I guess she wanted to make sure I was awake to witness whatever this is

Mabel got a makeover!

3 years ago I got Mabel from a person on Craigslist and she was absolutely wrecked by moss. Today she's living the life and got a new do and tail.

I feed them every other day and it's they have plenty of hides and clutter. Are they just dumb?
