Replace managers with AI?

Replace managers with AI?

Would you want work for one and communicate with one for your work?

Was just thinking, and also another post here brought it up. These managers using AI to get rid of us when it feels like their jobs are the ones easier to replace. They also cost more, so AI would save more replacing them.

Asked in ChatGPT and this part of the response made me kinda laugh. Maybe if this can be pushed hard enough, suddenly the talk of replacing humans with AI might go away.

Finally made it past! Looking to see if I can help any other EE's as well.

After ~1.5 years of unemployment finally got into an engineering role! Was running out of everything I could think of to keep going. Just happened to land on something that actually worked out. Now on a path to try and pay back loans.

Recently I got pinged by one recruiter who usually remembered what kind of job and location I was looking for. Still would get vague options that I was not qualified enough for. Thought I would check here if there is anyone with experience who wants to connect with him for those. It's not a guarantee for anything, but just in case it helps someone. These are most likely all contract roles.

Basic info (I was just given basic info and locations):

  1. PCB design contract (Altium) - multilayer high-speed digital boards (rigid-flex assemblies) - Chandler, AZ

  2. Vague info - Building high-fidelity 3D models of robotic workcells using C++ and physics engines like Unreal or Unity - No location given.

  3. Electrical Engineer - Embedded firmware in C on 25MHz processors, full power system integration, wire harness assembly without technician support - No location given (likely Indiana/Michigan/Ohio)

  4. Lead FPGA Firmware Engineer - Three-phase current control loop design, ADC interface handling - Raleigh, NC

  5. PCB design contract (Altium) - Analog/digital board design, multi-gigabit SERDES - Redmond, WA

  6. Embedded Systems Engineer - Advanced C/C++, driver development for AMD/Xilinx hardware - Redmond, WA

  7. Vague - Quantum chip measurements and Cryogenic wiring - MI

  8. EE Contract - Lead I&C Design - Nuclear environment - Athens, AL

  9. Electrical Engineer Contract - Next-gen power subsystem design for combat vehicles - Sterling Heights, MI

I apologize that a lot of the info is so vague. These recruiters usually only send you enough so you can't lookup the company and apply directly or go with another recruiter. Usually they'll give you the details you need when talking to them. Normally I wouldn't have posted, but this guy bombarded me with a bunch of roles, so maybe there's something there.

DM me what you're interested in and I'll either share the recruiter's email with you or vice versa, whichever you prefer.

Any engineers looking for jobs in Michigan?

Assalamualaikum,

Our company has some openings for engineers in Michigan, USA. We have very few Muslims here so looking to see if any Muslims in the area are looking for jobs or are willing to move. My team is electrical, but there might be other openings like mechanical or civil. Can look more into the other teams of there is interest.

US citizenship or green card required.

Are there any stories from candidates in control?

What I mean is that are any of you getting an offer and accepting it, but you have other interviews in the pipeline?

I've seen some of the success stories here, but what did you do? I also see the horror stories of offers rescinded. It's just making me feel negative when I think about "what-if" scenarios. So wanted to hear what happened with some of you. Did you continue interviewing? Did you try to get another offer or bargain?

Or should we still be worried all the time even if we end up getting something and starting?

Hi, just wondering for those who use the desktop Spacewalker. Are you able to watch DRM protected content on your glasses through it like Netflix, Hulu, etc?

From my experience, I got to try the Air 3s from a friend, then got the 3s Pro, and eventually updated to the 4 Pro. 3s wasn't bad, but the corners were slightly hard to get in view all the time, 3s Pro fits perfectly, and in the 4 Pro the bottom corners are almost impossible to get in view. And even when you do, for me the right side display becomes blurry.

I got the chance to try on another 4 Pro and the same issue, even with changing nosepads. It takes so much effort to keep things in view that I ended up reaching for my 3s Pro and using that most of the time now. Only thing I miss from the 4 is that the audio there is slightly louder.

With them both being around the same price now, if you don't care about HDR (no point if you watch from your phone or watch on low brightness at night) and see the 3s Pro available, I recommend getting that instead so you don't worry about the screen getting cut off.
