The double standar on "slut shaming" vs "virgin shaming".

I have noticed that, while "slut shaming" has almost dissapear, "virgin shaming" has become even worse over time, and I have the feeling it's because "virgin shaming" nowadays is usually targeted at men in their late 20s or older, and somehow they are considered "acceptable targets".

I personally think both "slut shaming" and "virgin shaming" should dissapear, since they are both unfair, judge the value of a person based only on their amount of sex experience, perpetuate gender stereotypes, and cause real emotional damage to people receiving them.

It makes me sad seen that one is dissapearing but the other stays the same (or even worse) than decades ago.

I'm curious on what is the position on feminists on this issue. I see "slut shaming" being criticized often, bur "virgin shaming" is rarely mentioned at all

Story of a journey

I started watching One Piece when it started airing on cable TV in my country, all the way back in 2003.

I lost track of it after watching the Arabasta arc, because it stopped having a dub in my country for several years, so they started rerunning episodes.

When I got news of the anime again, I was several hundred episodes behind, and most of them didn't have a dub in my language (again).

Alsom I was also way too busy with my studies: college, then a master degree... I didn't had the time to start watching hundreds of episodes of an anime. I was still in tocuh with the story, seen fan arts, and sometimes watching youtube videos about new theories fans were making, but I didn't have the time to get up to date for real.

After the studies, it came the job hunting, not finding a job, searching for more jobs while still studying even more, still not finding a job...

I still didn't have the time, and I always thought: "When things get better I will have the time, when things get better I will have the time..."

I got stuck there for many years, while my friends got jobs, couples, then a house, then some of them had children...

I fell in a depression and spent all day job hunting, studying, and figthing suicidal thougths. And obviously... I still didn't have time to watch the One Piece anime again.

Then, something weird happened... a scene with Buggy telling all the pirates that had abandoned their dreams that now it was the moment to search for the One Piece again... why was this speech directed specifically at me?! At theat moment, I decided that I would watch One Piece for real once I finally got a job.

Then finally I passed the exams to get a job as a civil servant, and I started working for the first time in several years.

And then... they announced that the anime was going to get dubbed in my language again, after twelve years of not dubbing new episodes.

And just a day after, a character that I really liked when I watched the anime for the first time all the way back in 2003, appeared again in the manga... Don Krieg. He appeared for the first time in the manga after TWENTYFIVE YEARS.

So here we are, twentysomething years after I started watching the anime, much older, with much more trauma, worse mental health, and poor eyesigth, watching One Piece again from the beginning.

I feel I'm way too old and I have been sailing the seas way too long... but now I'm here, didn't die or killed myself, and I'm finally watching One Piece again.

Like Don Krieg, I had the bad luck of stumbling upon Mihawk early in life, and because of that the journey for me has been way longer than for most other people in the fandom.

But finally, I have managed to enter Grand Line myself before the story ends.

At this point I have to thank Oda for making the story so long; if it was a normal manga, it would have ended years before I could put my life together and come back here. Hahaha...

If you read all this, thanks for your atention. See you at sea...

They just announced a new season of Code Lyoko with the original writers and voice actors.

Absolute bomb out of nowhere.

I couldn't get this meme idea out of my mind, so I had to make it.

The original meme refers to trading card games, but it fits too well.

A lot of people is claiming these designs are "oversexualized" and "designed for men".

I just can't deal with this level of puritanism.
