Great Emergency Service Response

Waiting to cross the canal on my bike, a taxi came left and hit a cyclist going straight.

I came around to help, within seconds there were four of us, stabilising the cyclist and safely parking the bike.

The taxi driver parked safely and came back to help.

A minute later a motorist stopped to say she was a first aid first responder so she parked and came to help.

Meanwhile we had called emergency services, fire brigade with paramedics were on site within 3 mins.

Ambulance arrived 2 mins later.

As I left, the cyclist was on his feet, being medically assessed and the taxi driver was giving a statement.

All within 5 mins.

We do have good services, when it counts!

And also great community response!

Silver Surfer: Parable

Did Marvel drop the ball on this one? Stan Lee is a legend, but by the 80s he was not at the top of his form. Having Moebius draw a comic for them was a monumental event, but I feel like Walt Simonson, John Byrne or (though there’s no way he would do it) Alan Moore would have been infinitely better choices. It’s still a good comic, but would you have kept Stan on it or gotten someone else?

Decision Time - Opinions Welcome

Hi - we just built a small garden room (14m2) - we have a nice Optoma 92" screen 2.8m away from a couch - so we're aiming to place a projector there.

Our criteria would be...

  • Watch streaming content
  • Watch occasional Blu-Ray and DVD content
  • Nintendo Switch for family gaming sessions
  • Minimal wires and plugs (owing to room size)
  • Preferaly no need for sound bar
  • Portability and battery nice to have
  • Budget €400-€800 or so

Contenders would be...

  • Anker Nebula Mars 3 Air
  • BenQ GV50
  • LG CineBeam Q
  • Samsung The Freestyle Gen 2
  • XGIMI MoGo 4 Laser

Based in Ireland, so range is a little more limited than those elsewhere in the world - please let us know your thoughts.

Thanks!

Bin comparison website

A few weeks ago, someone on Reddit asked if there was a site to compare bin prices in Ireland…there wasn’t.

So with the help of Claude and some web scraping, I ended up getting data on almost 400 plans across 50 bin companies in Ireland.

Give it a go and let me know what you think, it’s far from perfect but it gives you a good idea of your options in your area.
