So I’m 26 soon and ive been into dolls my entire life. First it was porcelain dolls from flea markets, now it’s vinyl and monster high. I have all in all 7 dolls, three of them are monster high. Now, my mother has always been a bit controlling of things and would absolutely see my collection as “useless plastic garbage clutter” and I’m worried about the university year ending and her discovering my doll collection. I want more too. I also never use the money she sends me for buying dolls, it’s always an after-paycheck treat. No matter what I do I feel like I have to hide this hobby of mine from her. It’s a hobby that for me helps with my anxiety and makes me want to work harder!

My brother just thinks I’m odd but doesnt really put me down because of it.

How do I frame my collection so that it’s seen as more of a respectable hobby to her? How to I talk about it with her? It always feels like I’m on eggshells with her, especially since shes recently been on a tirade to empty the house of any perceived clutter. I’m worried shes going to make me cut down on my collection.
