[TOMT] children’s book, compilation of short stories

I am pretty sure it was a compilation book of short stories, but it’s possible they weren’t all from the same book.

Here is the stories I remember:

  1. A child grows an extra set of fingernails, then more and more until their body is covered, it turns out they are scales and they are some kind of merperson (I believe this was the cover of the book)

  2. A boy has such unbelievably bad smelling feet that he weaponizes his disgusting shoes to stop people from messing with a sea turtles eggs

  3. I think there was a story that had to do with a pet bird dying and a boy wearing a bird cage around his head to school

  4. A school holds a contest to see who can pick the most mushrooms. The winner gets a giant elaborate chocolate egg. A boy wants to win it to give it to his sister. He finds three bizarre mushrooms that can each mimic another object once before eventually exploding into slime. He uses one to make a decoy chocolate egg and steals the real one.

It’s entirely possible I’ve misremembered the details of the stories but I’m fairly confident I got it right.

Why don’t pitchers check on batters / apologize when they hit them?

I fully anticipate getting mocked for this for some reason or another, but it’s always confused me why pitchers don’t really say or do anything when they hit a batter. They just kind of stare like psychopaths. Normally it doesn’t really bother me but watching Caminero get hit tonight and fold like a house of cards, I was shocked the pitcher didn’t say or do anything. Like don’t they feel bad?

Service couple LTA on TD

My spouse is currently on TD for an extended period of time away from home. I am looking to travel to visit them using LTA but the OR has said that my spouse has to be the one to initiate the claim as they are in TD. Does this mean that I will be losing my ability to claim LTA this fiscal year to visit them?

2022 Crosstrek - car loses all electrics during auto start / stop, only comes back once the hood is opened

Fairly new problem. When I come to a stop, and the car auto stops, it behaves normally. However when I do something that should trigger the engine to start again (taking my foot off the brake or depressing it further) the car immediately loses all electrics. The lights all go off, it doesn’t respond to the FOB buttons, I can’t even shift into park. The only way to bring the electrics back is opening to hood. They come back, the car screams at me because it’s in drive with the engine off, I shift to park and restart it, good to go.
Smaller additional things that have occurred since this issue started:
-the auto windows don’t work (the windows still roll if I hold the button down, but don’t automatically fully open or close at just a press of the button)
-random intermittent flashing of a warning that says EYESIGHT DISABLED CHECK OWNERS MANUAL (the warning displays for maybe half a second then disappears entirely - normally any warning displayed lasts several seconds, then the dash lights remain afterwards. These both disappear after the half second)
I’ve read that a faulty hood latch sensor can trigger an auto start stop failure / warning, but haven’t seen anything about the electrics fully going.
