Here’s what my experience was like running a punk show with my band in Kochi

We initially just wanted to play our songs to a certain audience.

We were looking for places where Thiriv Theory can perform, but finding a space for an original punk band wasn't easy at all.

All mfer want existing crowd, clean and more predictable sounds, which we don't fuck with.

Cos of that, we had a fear that maybe our sound won't work in Kochi, cos I don't think Kochi has ever seen a proper punk scene in music.

So instead of waiting for someone else to get us a stage, we decided to build our own one, which felt far better cos I didn't wanna make just a music show, I wanted to show our art.

I wanted to bring together the things that already existed around me. Music, visual art, graffiti, independent artists and people who wanted somewhere to experiment without being judged.

That became the idea behind the Thiriv Theory Fest.

In Kochi, it's been a while (or maybe never happened before) that a punk scene has happened.

There wasn't a large production behind it, mostly us bandmates and a few people to help with, yet people scammed us in between. Well, it is what it is.

The result and the post production was chaotic af.

DIY and imperfect, but that's exactly what we're looking for. Only one question: would people take it or not?

The goal was to make the audience feel like they were contributing to it as well, rather than just watching the show.

MUSIC

The music was centered around our originals rather than just covers. That was also a questionable point from our side cos no one knows any of the songs.

Nobody even knew Thiriv Theory.

We performed our own Malayalam punk-rock songs.

AUDIENCE

Around 60 to 70 people showed up.

Getting those people there was the hardest part. We struggled heavily to sell the tickets.

And there were a lot of moments where we felt all the work might not translate to the audience.

But the people who came stayed. They were headbanging the whole time.

I personally had a lot of loss in money, shit tone. But every single penny, worth it. They stayed until the very end.

By the end, things got out of hand. It was more than we expected. People crowded around the stage.

None of it went smooth at all. Everybody wanted to bite a piece of Thiriv Theory's ass. We didn't even have much of an ass to bite for.

Still, people scammed us, Union of Mattancheri made a scene when we were unloading our things.

Financially, we took significant loss putting the effort together.

Something changed immediately after the show.

People were screaming our songs after, from outside.

And our social media, which started from 0, eventually started growing just by one night.

A lot of people who weren't even there at the show started texting us just by seeing the video clips.

More importantly, a team had already approached us and booked Thiriv Theory right after.

[TOMT] Animated TV show about a young superpowered boy, his mom, and a weird flying robot and dog as a villain

I’ve been trying to find this animated TV series for YEARS and it’s driving me crazy.

I’m pretty sure it was a 2D animated TV show, probably from the 2000s early 2010s. Definitely a series, not a movie.

What I remember:

- The main character is a very young boy with superpowers, mainly super strength and super speed.

- His mother knows about his powers and is trying to protect/hide him.

- I remember a scene/flashback where he was even younger, and he used his strength to move/lift something huge, possibly a sofa, to help his mom.

- At some point, his mother takes him and escapes by car, heading toward a forest or remote area.

- There is a small flying/hovering robot, maybe with 3–4 legs, working for the villain. While they’re escaping, the robot somehow attaches a tracking device to their car without them noticing.

- The villain also has a dog that works as/with his assistant.

- The animation wasn't extremely old-looking, but it also definitely wasn't a recent show.

- I don't remember the characters' names, channel, or country of origin.

if any of this sounds familiar, please throw out suggestions even if you're not 100% sure. I’m trying to identify it from very vague childhood memories.

Has anyone heard of a migraine treatment involving Calotropis gigantea (Erukku) where the patient never touches the plant?

My father suffered from severe migraines for years. He was medically diagnosed and would often get attacks almost every day.

Someone in our village suggested a traditional remedy involving Calotropis gigantea (known as Erukku in Malayalam).

The strange part is that my father did not consume the plant, touch it, smell it, or even need to be present near it.

An older woman who knew the practice would go out before sunrise, while it was still dark, and snap part of the plant. If the migraine pain was on the right side of the head, she would snap it toward the right. If the pain was on the left side, she would do it toward the left.

After this was done, my father's migraines disappeared.💀

Months later the migraines returned. The same ritual was performed again, and the migraines disappeared again.

Normally I would dismiss this as coincidence, but what surprised me is that many people in my village independently report similar experiences specifically for migraines. I have never heard anyone claim it works for other conditions.

I'm not claiming this is scientific or that it proves anything. I'm just curious whether anyone has encountered this practice before, particularly in South India, and whether there is any historical, cultural, medical, or anthropological explanation for it.

Has anyone here heard of something similar?

Planning a small underground live music performance/shoot at Kundannoor Ghost Tower, Kochi

We’re an alternative rock band from Kochi planning to perform a small underground style live session soon.

One of the locations we were considering was Kundannoor Ghost Tower because of the raw atmosphere and visuals, but we’re unsure how safe/practical it actually is.

Not planning a huge crowd or anything chaotic just a controlled performance setup with minimal gear and a few people.

  • Is the location actually safe structurally?
  • Has anyone faced issues with police/security there?
  • Are there legal risks with setting up something like this there?
  • Would authorities usually stop it immediately?
  • Are there other places around Kochi with a similar abandoned/industrial vibe that would work better for a band performance shoot?
