Hey everyone!
ನಮ್ಮ ಸಬ್ ನ ಹತ್ತನೆಯ ಲೇಖಕರ ಗೋಷ್ಠಿಯ ಸಲುವಾಗಿ ಇಂದು ನಾವು ಕಬ್ಬನ್ ಪಾರ್ಕ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇರಿದ್ದೆವು! Just wanted to share a detailed report of how today's meetup went down, because this one was easily one of our most action-packed sessions so far.
Usually, standard meetup routine is clean and simple: we gather every two weeks or once a month, run a targeted writing exercise, discuss script breakdowns, and debate storytelling techniques or general filmmaking craft.
ಆದರೆ ಈ ಬಾರಿ, plan tight ಆಗಿತ್ತು! The core challenge was to write and shoot a complete 2-minute micro-short film on the spot based on a common theme, all within the meetup timeframe.
Thankfully, the turnout was incredible today. We had about 18 people show up, including 6 actors and 3 cinematographers who joined our core writing folks. Having that mix of disciplines completely changed the energy.
Unfortunately, our cinematographers Shivaraj Rathod and Prem missed the picture, as they were hurting for the shooting spot.
Here’s how we structured the chaos:
The Setup: We split into 3 core teams. Each group had 2–3 writers paired directly with 2 actors and 1 cinematographer.
The Writing Crunch (45 Mins): Writing in isolation is one thing, but writing with actors and a DOP standing right next to you is a whole different ballgame. The writers collaborated directly with the actors to draft natural dialogue and bounced ideas off the cinematographers to make sure every shot was practically shootable on location within our tight window.
The Production: Once the 45-minute countdown hit zero, all three teams scrambled into different corners of Cubbon Park to execute their scripts and capture the footage before light faded.
By the end of the evening, all three teams successfully wrapped production and backed up the raw audio and video footage.
Editing is in progress, and we’re working to get these micro-shorts cut and posted right here on the sub as soon as possible!
Honestly, this meetup was a fantastic test of fast-paced collaborative screenwriting, learning how to write for actual gear, physical spaces, and performance constraints on the fly. Huge thanks to everyone who showed up, brought their energy, and made our 10th iteration a success.
