Some 25 years ago, I bought a very used Technics SL-220 at a local garage sale for $30.00 CAN. I used it for a while, but it ended up in storage for a great number of years. In recent years, I began to get back into physical media, and I brought out the SL-220 again. I gave it some thorough maintenance and slowly revived it. It's been a great old turntable for me and it's still as reliable as ever, but I realized that I had grown in the hobby enough that perhaps it was time for something new. I decided I wanted to stay with Technics, so the SL-1500CS seemed like a natural choice. It cost me many many times more than my old garage sale find, but knowing that this will be my most expensive & last turntable I ever buy, I felt fortunate to be in a position to buy it. A brand new turntable in 2026 feels strangely fun, and I'm already quite enjoying it.
Art of Noise LP's I've collected over the years. I bought the turntable in the early 2000's when they weren't worth anything and it's been in storage most of that time since. I decided last year to re-invest in physical media and so I spent some time last year refurbishing it and treating it to a 2M Blue. And I'm so glad I did, these LP's sound better than I ever remember.
King's Quest IV has always been my favourite game, and I thought the ThinkPad X61 would be a perfect little host to run the ultimate edition on. Here it is playing the intro to the game.
I recently found an untested Sony MZ-N10 in a Japanese auction. It turned out to be in excellent condition. All it needed was a fresh battery from AliExpress and it's as good as new again. This one may be my MiniDisc end game. Love this little recorder!
