Riker gets the go around.

In Best of Both Worlds, Shelby goes around Riker to Picard.

In Second Chances Lt. Riker goes around Commander Riker to Picard.

Riker has to give each of them a talking to afterward. Each time Picard actually opted to go with the ideas or at least form a plan as backup. Was Riker missing something to not further consider their plans? I know he told Shelby that he brings all valid options to the Captain, but would/did he bring those ideas to the captain if there was no go around? Seemed like he dismissed them as not being "valid options".

Any other times this happened? Either to Riker or other skipped chain of command?

Accessing Mod Queue tabs showing nothing

Anyone else seeing this? when I go to the Needs Review, Reported, Removed, Edited, Unmoderated tabs nothing is coming up at all. Also no communities are selected by default, and I have to select all or individual communities. nothing shows on any of them however.

Just me, or anyone else?

Desktop, New-ish reddit.

EDIT: Reddit seems to be changing things behind the scenes. The queue sorta came back, but the interface has changed.

E2: Not working again.

E3: Working again but super slow, and UI seems back to normal.

Why is community karma shown as different numbers?

Platform does not matter. Desktop because I have to pick one.

On a sub I moderate, the automod sends a message to users with negative community karma. A user sent a modmail about it.

On new-ish reddit. When on the modmail screen, a popup on the right gives a short breakdown of the users history on the sub. That includes a "community karma". What does this number represent?

To be sure it was not sent in error, I asked them to go to old reddit and send us the karma breakdown for the particular sub. They responded, and that number was indeed a negative number, so automod was being triggered correctly.

tl;dr: What do the numbers mean in my screenshot?

Left side is what user said they have, via old reddit. right side shows the other "community" number.

How does community karma being displayed work? What do the numbers mean?

On a sub I moderate, the automod sends a message to users with negative community karma. A user sent a modmail about it.

On new-ish reddit. When on the modmail screen, a popup on the right gives a short breakdown of the users history on the sub. That includes a "community karma", and a brief contribution overview. Both those numbers were in the positive, but they were different numbers.

So that's issue 1. what are those numbers, and why are they different? I have suspicion about what they might represent, but want other users pov. Maybe I missed a mod news about it, and its fully known.

To be sure it was not sent in error, I asked them to go to old reddit and send us the karma breakdown for the particular sub. They responded, and that number was indeed a negative number, so automod was being triggered correctly.

Issue 2. Why is there a third number, that appears to be the true number, different then the other 2. Why isn't that number, the only number that seems to matter, shown on their preview? I was here when community karma became a thing so I am aware that it was stated at that time that the number would not be available to mods. But why now provide 2 other numbers that don't mean what they seem to represent?

tl;dr: What do the numbers mean in my screenshot?

Edit: See included screenshot. I could not include it in the post itself.

comment trigger to sort and sticky parent_submission

Hello all. I have the following code that will sticky and set sort order of the parent submission, when trigged by a comment from OP. The code works as is.

I want to also remove the trigger comment, but when I add action: remove the script fails to trigger.

type: comment
author:
    is_submitter: true
body: '!sort'
action: remove
message: |
Post has been stickied and sorted!
parent_submission:
    set_suggested_sort: new
    set_sticky: 1

when the action line is omitted it fires correctly. when it is added it does not. mod log shows:

28 minutes ago AutoModerator set suggested sort link "Test post" by _Face
28 minutes ago AutoModerator stickied link "Test post" by _Face ([highlight] )
28 minutes ago AutoModerator stickied link "Test post" by _Face

when I add the action line, no automod actions are logged. I tried adding the action_reason as well, and it did not change the outcome.

Where am I messing up? Please and thanks!!

Creating a new text post. Trouble setting default comment sort order.

Hello all. I am having trouble getting my script to set the default sort order in a new post. I think its possible, but I am most likely implementing it wrong.

Was trying to use the info found here:

https://praw.readthedocs.io/en/latest/code_overview/other/submissionmoderation.html#praw.models.reddit.submission.SubmissionModeration.suggested_sort

and here:

https://www.reddit.com/dev/api#POST_api_set_suggested_sort

But I could not get my script to successfully create a post, and set the default sort order to new.

new_submission = subreddit.submit(title=Title, selftext=post_text)
new_submission.mod.suggested_sort = 'new'

The post is successfully created, but does not have the default sort order set to "new".

Thanks!
