Banner collab part 21: The Hidden Floof

We are happy to say that we are doing our 21st banner collaboration and would like you to join us! How it works:

1: A theme/prompt is announced at the beginning of each month.

2: You are given until the 18th each month to draw your characters in said theme and post them on the subreddit! (If you could also provide a PNG version with no background, that would be wonderful!)

3: Once the event closes on the 18th, the ones who participated will have their art displayed on the subreddit banner until it is changed for the next month!

4: If you want your art to be featured on the banner, make sure the title has #banner so we know which drawings to include. As per usual, make sure to stick to the theme and follow the subreddit rules. (No NSFW art is allowed on the banner. If your art does not align with the theme, it will also not be added).

This month’s theme:

GLOW PARTY!

Draw your OC ready for a glow party with neon colors and glowing lights!

Due July 18th, 11:59pm CST

I love finding FC’s with capped wheels

Just picked up this prowler with capped rears, missing the engine but I can get a replacement engine, it rolls really well. I may have to break out the old tracks and run this one!

A new pre-production Silo for the Bow!

Obtained this absolute gem from a Facebook sale! An unspun silo with mis-matched colors, blue body and gold base! Just like my other unspun blue body, it has no taillight paint, so I’m guessing it’s some kind of factory paint test car. I love weird test cars like this, and always love to add a new test car to the silo collection! What do y’all think?

Platinum gold obtained!

Pics don’t do it Justice, the lighting was bad. But it is indeed platinum, at least the body is. Front axle needs straightening, but it’s decent regardless. Now I only need aqua, true yellow, and true brown!

Quite possibly the only CIPSA spin buggy known to exist!

It is a Mattel-made redline-era car, so I hope it’s ok to post this, cause this could be a really big breakthrough if I’m right about this. I just received it from Mexico after waiting for weeks for it to come in the mail. It’s definitely a spin buggy, but it came directly from Mexico, and the stickers are in Spanish. It’s a plastic toy that Mattel made around the time CIPSA was operating, so there is a genuine chance CIPSA made this. If so, it’s quite possibly the only documented example in the world, as I’ve done lots of research and never seen another example like it. I already emailed the guy that runs the CIPSA website with pics to get his opinion, and am waiting on his response. What do y’all think?

Anyone notice how the way the premonition in FD6 plays out makes no logical sense?

And no, I don’t mean the sheer impossibility of a single penny causing an entire restaurant to collapse. I mean literally the way everything plays out, the SkyView tower literally breaks the laws of physics and is full of inconsistency. Here’s what I noticed:

The beginning: Iris exits the vehicle and looks up at the tower, while standing IN FRONT of it (this position is very important). As the screen pans up the tower, we see the elevator shaft, ON THE FRONT SIDE of the tower. Once we see the underside of the actual restaurant, one thing sticks out the most: there is NO glass dance floor to be seen anywhere. You may be thinking: oh, it’s just on the other side where we can’t see. But that’s impossible, considering the people that fell landed IN FRONT of the tower.

Next: as the camera pans up while they travel up the elevator, it’s hard to see, but if you look carefully, you can see the door that leads to the observation deck on the same side as the elevator shaft. This is shown later to be at the BACK of the tower, meaning the elevator has suddenly switched sides.

The people start dancing and we can see that the dance floor is now positioned above the front of the building. This is confirmed when is breaks and the people fall in front of the building. Another fun note: the dance floor is positioned at this point directly above the roof of the lower floor, meaning everyone who falls should have landed on the lower floor’s roof. And yet some of them somehow managed to get all the way to the other side of the fountain out front and land right next to the valet stand out front, meaning they fell straight down, without any forward momentum at all, teleported forward about 20-25 feet, then hit the ground? How???

Next, the fire spreads to the gas leak and causes an explosion. When we pan outside during this shot, the elevator is just entirely gone at this point.

The broken support beam falls off, causing the stairwell, which has moved from the back to the front of the building, to cave in. This in turn causes the front of the tower to start leaning. Lemme say that again, the FRONT of the tower, where the dance floor should be , starts leaning. Well, the first thing we notice is that the dance floor has changed sides AGAIN, as there is no hole in the floor of the side that starts leaning. But we know this is the side with the dance floor, because the piano on that side. This is where it gets really stupid:

The penny makes the piano fall, the piano slides across the floor where the dance floor SHOULD HAVE BEEN, crashes though the window, and knocks like 10 people out of the building. The piano lands on the penny kid, who has just exited the FRONT of the building, and by the way, those 10 people that fell out when the piano did are just gone completely, they never landed. Only the piano did.

We then cut back up to the top of the tower, where the half of the building that was leaning breaks off because the piano destabilized it. And you know what? THAT HALF FALLS AND LANDS BEHIND THE TOWER!!!! The same side where the piano fell out and landed IN THE FRONT!!!

Iris notices baby bloodworth on the side of the tower that still remains intact, which was IN THE BACK but is now IN THE FRONT. She grabs him and they jump towards the center, and as we see the now FRONT half fall away, there is no dance floor there either, meaning it’s disappeared completely at this point, and Iris is left hanging by her ring.

Now for the icing on this inconsistent cake: as she and bloodworth fall, the elevator shaft, which was originally in FRONT, which then moved to the BACK, then disappeared entirely, is now BAVK AT THE FRONT! But wait, wasn’t the stairwell at the front, and didn’t that collapse? NOPE! Now the stairwell is gone, the elevator is back, and the best part? The support beam that fell away when the stairwell collapsed is not only BACK and reattached to the building, it’s now ATTACHED TO THE GLASS OF THE ELEVATOR SHAFT?! And if the place where Iris is hanging is right above that support beam that should be gone, then the place where she is hanging is where the dance floor is supposed to be! And finally as she falls, we get one last shot of that magical elevator shaft that can’t seem to stay in one place.

And no, this can’t be explained away by saying “what if the SkyView has a rotating floor like the space needle?”, because it can’t have a rotating floor. The floor is never shown to rotate, and the fact that it’s secured to the base with support beams means there is no way the floor could possibly rotate. And even if it could rotate, that does not explain entire halves of the tower switching sides instantly.

Apologies for my rant, but it’s been really bugging me lately how inconsistent the SkyView tower premonition is, and I thought I’d share my observations with y’all.

TL;DR: the way the SkyView collapsed is impossible because the features of the tower can’t seem to stay in one place!

The 50s called, they want their Laika back! (#banner)

Here’s Laika wearing… uh… I’m not exactly sure what you call this? It looks like some kind of secretary outfit, but this was kind of a style in 50’s. I liked the way the outfit was designed, and the separate collar was perfect for coloring it like the ally flag! I’ve been pretty busy packing up a house to sell this week, but I should have the banner up in the next few days

(by the way, if you even have to submit your banner drawing a little bit late, I can still squeeze it into the banner as long as you get it in before the banner goes up, usually around the 20th. since it usually takes me a few days to set up the banner after the event is concluded, I don’t want anybody not to be included because they were a tiny bit late, things happen. So I’d say, aim for the 18th, but if it takes an extra day or 2, I can still get it on the banner as long as the banner isn’t up yet. More is always merrier I say!)

A tasty olive for the bow!

Finally, after multiple attempts and delays, I’ve obtained an olive. For such a common variation, this thing was surprisingly hard to get my hands on!

This was my third attempt (third times the charm I guess!). Attempt 1: ordered one from Facebook marketplace that I came across, but the seller had to refund my money because he lost it lol. Attempt 2: found one for auction on EBay that nobody was watching. Put down the starting bid and up until the last minute, literally nobody was watching it, so I wasn’t paying attention when it ended. Then someone swiped it out from under me for one dollar over my bid. Finally, third attempt, found another auction that nobody was watching, put minimum bid, and this time, nobody swiped it. Now that I’ve got that out of the way, I can focus on getting the last 3 (official) US colors: Aqua, Platinum Gold, and Brown. Aqua and Platinum will be easy, they are common colors. Brown is what’s stumping me, I’ve never actually seen a brown one come up for sale (and believe me when I say I check eBay every single day to try and catch one!). I know they exist, I’ve seen a few elusive pics online, but I’ve never been able to find one for sale that wasn’t 1) restored, or 2) just toned orange. It’ll be a challenge, but I’m not giving up!

Looks like the Christmas catalogs are coming in a bit early this year!

Lucked out on this awesome authentic CIPSA Christmas catalog from 1972! It’s got a bit of wear here and there, but it’s in surprisingly good condition for being a 55ish year old paper catalog from Mexico! It’s even cooler that the catalog advertises the Garage Portatil that I have, so I could finally get a pic of those two items together! What do y’all think?

Losercity Laikas

A fun idea I had for an art piece that features 3 anthro adaptations of Laika:

Left: Laika: Aged Through Blood

Middle: Stupid Sexy Cryptids by Vitaly S. Alexius

Right: My OC Laika, whose series is still a work in progress and hasn’t been not been published yet

All art by me

Triage of Laikas

Decided to do this cool art piece featuring 3 different anthro Laikas:

Left: Laika: Aged Through Blood

Middle: Stupid Sexy Cryptids by Vitaly S. Alexius

Right: My OC Laika, who’s series is still a work in progress, and hasn’t been published yet

u/_InvaderJim — 29 days ago

And then there were three~

I had this cool idea to do an art piece with all the anthro Laika adaptations I could think of. What do y’all think?

Laika from Laika: Aged Through Blood

Laika from SSC (of course!)

And my Laika, whose series is still a work in progress, and (technically) hasn’t been published yet

Adventures of the Crazy-Lace Winglet, Chapter 4 (book 16 spoilers)

Chapter 4: Stalker of Dreams

Shadowhunter awoke with a start. The air around him was strikingly cold, with a salty scent to it. He sat up and looked around his sleeping cave to try and determine what had woken him so suddenly. But something was wrong.

This wasn't his sleeping cave at Jade Mountain Academy. His sleeping mat was gone, and Nightshade’s sleeping nest made of various plants he’d grown was also gone, and Nightshade himself was nowhere to be seen. The floor had changed to wood, and the room he was in was much bigger than his sleeping cave, and almost perfectly round. One side of the room was completely open to the air, and moonlight poured in. Then, a brisk, salty gust of wind blew through, making Shadowhunter shiver.

‘Salty… Saltwater? Am I near the ocean?’ Shadowhunter thought to himself. He peeked out the entrance of the room. Sure enough, not far out from the structure he was in, the stone and gravel cut off, and it was just ocean.

He stepped out of the room and looked around to see if he could find out where he was. The first thing he noticed is that nothing looked familiar at all. The second thing he noticed was that the “room” he had just exited was actually a natural hollow in the trunk of a massive tree. The trunk was at least the width of five adult dragons standing side-by-side with their wings fully extended, and it was taller than any tree in the entire rainforest. There were massive branches at the top that spread out like a dragon’s talons, creating a massive lush green canopy.

As Shadowhunter looked around, though, he noticed something very strange. This tree was completely isolated, it was the only plant anywhere around, and it was somehow growing from stone and gravel. He began to pace around the outside of the tree, and thats when he noticed: The ocean wasn't just in front of him, it stretched on as far as the eye could see in any direction all around the tree.

Panic began to ensue. Shadowhunter ran around the tree a few more times to make sure he wasnt hallucinating from being sleepy, then he took to the sky. He flew up, up, up, until he was far above the top of the massive tree. He looked down, as his worst fears were confirmed. The tree sat alone on a tiny stone island hardly any larger than the main entrance hall at Jade Mountain all alone in the middle of a vast ocean.

“Where in the moons am I?!” He shouted as he landed back on the gravelly beach of the island. Wait, something was wrong. ‘Where in… the… moons?’ He thought. ‘The… moons?!’. He looked up suddenly at the moon. Wait… moon? As in… singular? Sure enough, there was one, singular, solitary moon in the night sky.

“The… moons?” He whispered to himself, “WHERE ARE THE OTHER MOONS!?”

He woke again with a start, for real this time. He sat up, half expecting to still be on the island. But he was back in his cave. His sleeping mat was there, and Nightshade was across the cave from him, sleeping soundly in a tight coil inside his leafy nest. Shadowhunter crept over to the window and glanced out.

‘Three moons…’ He thought, ‘There they are. One, two, three. Right where they always are… Just a weird dream then’. He crawled back over to his mat and laid down, slipping back into a restless sleep.

The next morning, Shadowhunter awoke groggily to Nightshade poking him in the snout with a talon.

“Come on man, wake up, you're gonna be late for classes!” Nightshade said.

“Ugh… Oh man, I had the weirdest dream last night…”

“Must have been a heck of a dream, you look rough buddy! Did you get any sleep?”

“Uhhhh… Maybe? I don't know.”

Shadowhunter groggily followed Nightshade to class. All that morning, he couldn't focus, because all he could think about was that dream. ‘What could it mean?’ He thought to himself, ‘Just one moon? And that tiny island with that lone tree, what could that mean?’.

He wanted to find answers, to figure out if it was just a dream or if it really meant something, but he couldn't right now. It was almost lunch time, and today was the day that Heatwave would introduce Rust and Desertglass to the Treasure Hunters club, so Shadowhunter had to get down to the prey center as soon as possible to make the meeting. He arrived at the meeting table just as Heatwave, Rust and Desertglass did. Heatwave was wearing the same banged up neck band as the day before, except today it looked as if he had repaired the missing chunk using gold. Rust was wearing a very shiny helmet, in fact it was so shiny, Shadowhunter could see his own reflection in it. And finally, Desertglass was carrying some weird shape covered by a tarp that appeared to be making rattling and clanking noises.

“Hello fellow treasure hunters!” Started Heatwave, “As promised, here are my friends, Desertglass and Rust. They have each brought a unique piece of treasure to show for access into the club.”

“Ooooh, how exiting!” Exclaimed shimmer.

“I cant wait to see what you two have in store for us today!” Said Fauna.

“What is the story of that most elegant armour?” Asked Sumac.

“Desertglass found this for me while I was in the nurse’s office the other day! According to the label on the chest it was in, this armour belonged to King Canyon of the Skywings once upon a time!”

“I know that armour!” Frostburn exclaimed, “I read about it in Starflight’s new guide! Apparently, it was specially crafted for King Canyon’s fight in Scarlet’s area back in the day! Wait a minute… Didn't Canyon lose that fight…?”

Everyone peered up at Rust, who took off the helmet and gave a nervous, slightly squeamish look. “I uh… Never really questioned why this had blood on it when we found it… Oh dear…”

“We uh… Cleaned it very thoroughly before Rust put it on though!” Desertglass quickly interjected. “He he… heh…”

“Well, that's unique if I've ever seen it,” Shimmer said, trying to change the subject, “Moving on, what have you brought to show us Desertglass?”

Glad to be talking about something else, Desertglass removed the tarp. The shape underneath turned out to be a cage, and the clanking noise was coming from the small, metal dragon inside the cage.

“You all probably know him by now, considering he got the school shut down for a day last week, but this is Razorblade the Sharpwing!” Desertglass said.

Razorblade spread his slightly rusted wings proudly. They made a horrible squeaking noise as he did.

“I think that thing might need some oil…” Shadowhunter commented. He didn't know much about this “Sharpwing” other than that it was apparently very dangerous, so he was glad that Desertglass had put it into a cage.

“He may seem scary, but I assure you he cant hurt anyone right now, Headmistress Tsunami made me remove his weapons after the uh… incident…” He said, with a nervous glance at Rust. “But yes, as you can see, I made him some dull, wooden talons and a tail to replace them, so he's totally safe now!”

Razorblade looked highly displeased. He pulled one of his wooden talons off and threw it against the side of the cage. “Junk!” He squeaked out in an indignant tone.

“Hey! I told you to stop doing that!” Desertglass said, “I know you don't like it, but at least it's better than being taken apart, which I know Tsunami won't hesitate to do, especially if you keep acting up!”

Razorblade huffed and did the closest thing to rolling his eyes that he could, but picked up the talon and reattached it to his arm.

“Wow, that thing really is sentient! It has enough consciousness to know that it does not like having replacement wooden parts! How truly fascinating!” Fauna said.

“You two clearly have some very unique treasure, so on behalf of the Jade Mountain Treasure Hunter’s club, I welcome you as official members!” Exclaimed Shimmer. “A quick announcement before we break for lunch. Next weekend, we have a treasure hunt planned, so everyone make sure to make preparations for that, as it could take over a day. And with that, you all are dismissed!”

As the members of the club broke off to go eat, Shadowhunter got to thinking about his dream again. He couldn't shake the feeling that it really meant something, but what could it be? Just then, Desertglass approached him.

“Hey, are you feeling ok today? You seem a little tired.”

“Oh yeah, I'm fine. Just didn't get very good sleep last night because of this weird dream, it feels like it's really important, but I can't make any sense of it, and its been bothering me all day.”

Dirtdobber happened to be passing by and overheard the conversation, and walked over.

“Hey, whenever I'm trying to figure out something difficult, I like to get a snack, because you can't solve a mystery on an empty stomach, here,” Dirtdobber presented Shadowhunter a wooden bowl full of smoldering yellow mush. Shadowhunter eyed the contents of the bowl skeptically.

“You should try this. Peril and Siamang make the most delicious applesauce! They've managed to combine the perfect amount of sweetness with an excellent consistency to create a true delicacy! And the fact that they heat it up really brings out the natural sweetness from the apples, and makes for quite a-”

“ITS NOT APPLESAUCE!” Peril interrupted from across the prey center, “How many times do I have to tell dragons this? It's a COMPLETELY ORIGINAL CONCEPT! TOTALLY DIFFERENT from plain old APPLESAUCE!”

“It's definitely applesauce.” Dirtdobber whispered with a chuckle. “But it's surely the best dang applesauce under the three moons, that's for sure! So, you want some?”

“Thanks for the offer, Dirtdobber. But I think I need something a little heartier to get my gears turning today. I will have to try that at some point though, thanks for the suggestion!”

“Any time!” Dirtdobber said with a smile. He then proceeded to slurp up the entire bowl in a single gulp and walked off to go chat with some other students.

“You know, If I had a question about a weird, possibly very important dream, I'd go and ask Starflight the librarian,” Desertglass suggested to Shadowhunter, “He wrote that guide that Frostburn mentioned earlier, and he's basically the smartest dragon here. If anyone could help you, it would probably be him!”

“Hey, that's a great idea, Desertglass!” Shadowhunter exclaimed, "I'm going to catch a couple rabbits, then ill head straight up there to talk to him. Thanks for the idea!”

“Sure thing!” Said Desertglass, then he turned to Fauna, who had just finished chatting with Shimmer about plans for the upcoming treasure hunt, “Hey Fauna, I was just about to head over to the beach to catch some suntime, wanna join?”

“Sure! I've been meaning to check that place out, let's go!” And she and Desertglass flew out of the prey center.

After Shadowhunter had his lunch, he hurried off to the library. When he arrived, Starflight was at his desk in the center of the room, running one talon over the face of a scroll that was just covered in a strange texture.

“Hey Mr. Starflight, what are you up to today?” Shadowhunter asked, curious about Starflight’s strange wordless scroll.

“Hello! Shadowhunter, is it?” Said Starflight, somehow guessing without being able to see Shadowhunter, "I'm reading! This is one of the new scrolls for blind dragons, instead of words, it has textures which translate into words using a code system, that way, I can feel the words rather than read them!”

“Its really quite a genius technology!” Said Tamarin, who was sitting by one of the windows and holding one of the textured scrolls.

“Did you want to borrow a scroll?” Asked Starflight to Shadowhunter.

“Actually, I had a weird dream last night that for some reason feels really important, and I was wondering if you possibly might be able to help me figure out if it means anything, or maybe there is a scroll that could help in the library?”

“I see, well if any of the scrolls here have information that might help, ill do my best to help you find the right one. What was your dream about?”

“In the dream, I woke up in the hollow trunk of a giant tree. The tree was growing all alone on a tiny island in the middle of the ocean, with nothing else around. The weirdest part was that it was night time in my dream, but there was only one moon in the sky, the other two were just missing completely?”

“That is odd,” said Starflight, ‘Do you remember which moon it was in your dream?”

“It was huge, so it had to have been Imperial.”

“Well, I'm not sure about the island and the tree in the middle of the ocean, but I have heard of ancient myths that speak of a time back before any known recorded history when there was only a single moon, but it's commonly accepted that those are just tall tales, because two whole moons can't just appear out of nowhere. But I'll tell you what, I'll check my archives, and you can come back and let me know if you have any more strange dreams like this. You have foresight, correct? Maybe your dreams are being affected by your powers somehow? Anything is possible, there are still lots of things we don't know about the Nightwing powers, like for example, why do most Nightwings with foresight only get a cryptic prophecy here and there, while Clearsight was able to clearly read every possible future timeline and the events that would alter them? Or, why do only dragonets hatched under full moons get powers? So many questions I'd love to have answers to someday…”

“Ok, ill come back with any more information, thanks for the help!”

That night, Shadowhunter sat on his sleeping mat and pondered what Starflight had said before falling asleep. ‘Could he be right about my powers altering my dreams? Is the dream some kind of weird prophecy? Are the moons going to disappear?’ Eventually, his eyelids began to feel heavy. He blinked once, twice, three times, and suddenly he was in the hollow tree trunk again.

He sat up to look around. It was different this time, the inside of the tree trunk had been smoothed, the walls looked cleaner, and there were three torches hung on the walls that were alight with strange, silvery flames. There was also a pedestal in the center of the room now, it was made with a smaller log, but the flat top part was angled, which seemed counter-intuative as anything placed on top would just slide off. He also noticed that a spiral staircase had been carved into the back of the room. He peeked outside, but now all three moons were back in the sky, and all three were full. It was a brightest night.

‘Well,’ He thought, ‘If I'm ever going to figure out what this dream means, I need more info. So I guess it's time to explore.’

He climbed the staircase, which led to a second floor that hadn't been there the last time. On the second floor, there were eight tall, thin windows evenly spaced apart around the room. Near the front of the room, there was a large wooden bed big enough for two adult dragons to sleep comfortably. The thing is, the bed wasn't carved, it looked as if the roots and branches of the tree had naturally grown into the perfect shape of a bed.

He continued to climb the stairs, which spiraled higher and higher until they opened up into a perfect clearing in the top of the tree, completely shrouded by the leaves. Shadowhunter was taken aback; it was beautiful, someone had put a lot of effort into making this tree into a comfy home.

Suddenly, he heard two sets of wingbeats approaching quickly. He poked his head through the leaves and saw two dragons approaching, one was the darkest Nightwing he had ever laid eyes upon, her scales were so dark that they seemed to absorb all light, to the point where she looked like a dragon-shaped hole that had been cut out of the night sky, and she didn't have any silver scales scattered under her wings. She was also wearing some kind of large, heavy looking sling around her neck. The other, however, was a large, majestic white dragon. At first, Shadowhunter thought he was an Icewing, but as he got closer, it was clear he was something entirely different. He didn't have any neck spines or serrated claws. He had a very large wingspan like a skywing, but was completely white with silver wings and a smattering of silver scales dotted all over his body. He also very obviously had the Silver teardrop scales behind his eyes like some nightwings had. And he was so bright looking in the night that he was almost glowing.

‘Maybe he's some kind of hybrid?’ Shadowhunter thought, ‘Oh! Maybe I can ask them about this place!’

Shadowhunter flew up right into their path and called out to them. But they didn't answer, it was as if they couldn't see him. And that was confirmed when, instead of slamming directly into Shadowhunter, the two dragons phased directly though him and kept flying down towards the island as if nothing had happened. Confused, Shadowhunter followed them down to the island, where they began to talk to each other.

“Surprise, my love!” Said the white dragon.

“Wow, what is this place? It's amazing!” Said the nightwing.

“It's our new home, I enchanted it just for us! It will be the perfect place to raise our dragonet!”

The nightwing opened the sling she was wearing around her neck and pulled out what appeared to be a newly hatched nightwing dragonet. He was a much lighter shade of black than his mother, and had glowing white teardrop scales behind his eyes.

“Its so perfect, finally a nice secluded place where no one will ever find us to call our own, thank you so much!”

“Anything for you, Vantablack!” Said the white dragon.

The Nightwing looked down at her dragonet and smiled, “You hear that? We are finally home, my little Dreamweaver.”

Suddenly, the white dragon looked straight up into the sky and sighed. “Theyre calling me, but I'll be back soon, my love.”

“We’ll be waiting.” She said,

The white dragon stepped into the hollow trunk of the tree, and placed one talon on the pedestal. Suddenly, in a brilliant flash of light, he was gone.

Then Shadowhunter awoke back in his sleeping cave.

He went to visit Starflight again that day with his new information, and told him the whole story of his newest dream.

“That is so strange,” Starflight said, "I've never heard of a Vantablack or a Dreamweaver before. Did you catch the name of the white dragon? He intrigues me, the way you described him does not sound like any tribe from here or pantala. But if he had teardrop scales, maybe he was just an albino Nightwing, its unlikely, but I remember reading of a single instance of a white Nightwing in a scroll from around Darkstalker’s time.”

“What happened to that white Nightwing? Could that have been the dragon from my dream?”

“No, I don't think so. The dragon in your dream was an adult, but this poor Nightwing died as a dragonet, killed by guards, they mistook him for an Icewing.”

“Ah, thats really unfortunate.”

“Here, take this,” Starflight handed Shadowhunter a blank scroll, “Write down everything you can remember from the first two dreams, and any future dreams here. Make sure to be as detailed as possible. If this really is some kind of big prophecy, you will want as many details written down as possible. Also, just between you and me, maybe don't show headmistress Tsunami. If one more prophecy emerges, I think her head might explode, hah!” So Shadowhunter did as he was told, and wrote down everything he could remember from the dreams. And that night, he got ready to remember anything he could if he had another dream.

And sure enough, that night he found himself back in the hollow tree. But something was off. It looked cracked and rotted. Upon stepping outside, Shadowhunter noticed the leaves were beginning to get brown and decayed. The tree was dying, just a rotting shell that was somehow still standing on that beach. Then he heard a commotion upstairs, and went to investigate.

“THAT TRAIGHTEROUS SNAKE!” Vantablack yelled, “He is going to pay for what he did to me! Dreamweaver! I command you to enchant this parchment to make any command written on it come true!”

“B-but mother, a-are you sure thats a good idea?” Dreamweaver asked shyly. Shadowhunter noticed he wasn't a hatchling anymore, some time had passed, and now Dreamweaver looked about his age.

“Do as you are told, worm!” Vantablack shouted, breaking Shadowhunter’s focus.

“Yes mother…” Dreamweaver said hesitantly. He took the parchment from his mother, held it out, and closed his eyes for a moment. “It is done…”

“Finally! Now its time for some retribution!" And with that, Vantablack stormed out of the tree and flew off in the same direction she had arrived from in Shadowhunter’s last dream.

Suddenly, Dreamweaver turned and looked directly at Shadowhunter, “Shes finally gone, now we can talk for real.”

“wh-WHAT!?” Exclaimed Shadowhunter, “You- you can see me!? But, this is a dream!”

“Well, they don't call me Dreamweaver for nothing!” He said with a chuckle. He then opened his desk drawer and pulled out a block of wood that looked like some kind of unfinished carving, and began carving at it with one claw.

“Whats that?” Asked Shadowhunter.

“Oh, nothing. Just a little pet project of mine.”

“So… Have you been giving me these dreams?”

“Yes indeed! You see, I've had a prophecy. At first, I thought it referred to me and my family, but I was wrong. Its not relevant yet, but it will be, so I need you to pay attention.” He scooted his desk away from the wall, pulled up a loose floorboard, and scratched Shadowhunter’s name into it. He then put the board back down, and replaced the desk. “When it needs to be found, you will find it.”

“Um, yeah, cryptic much?” Shadowhunter questioned, “Cant you just tell me the prophecy now?”

“Its not time, like I said, it will come around when the correct time arrives. But not quite yet.”

“Well… can you at least give me some kind of information? Anything? This seems pretty important, and I'd like to at least be able to prepare a little.”

“Hmmm…” Dreamweaver thought hard, scratching his chin, “There is one thing I should probably tell you, now that I think about it.”

“What is it?”

“Remember that treasure hunt next weekend?”

“Wait, how do you know about-”

“You will want to bring Viperfish with you, you will find she is a very important part of that adventure.”

“Wait, Viperfish? But why? Who-”

“Just trust me on this one. Also, one last thing.”

“What is it?”

“You will want to pay very close attention to your next dream.”

Suddenly there was a bright flash. Shadowhunter was still in Dreamweaver’s room, but everything was rotted and decayed looking. Shadowhunter scooted the desk away, and found the board with his name on it.

“Not time yet my tail! If there is a prophecy I can be ready for, I want to know now!”

He lifted the board. Underneath was a scroll, but the only thing written in it was “Not time yet, silly!”. Shadowhunter stuffed the scroll back in the hole angrily, and slammed the board back down on top of it so hard that it cracked in half.

“That nitwit! What's the point in hiding my destiny from me!?”

He stormed down the stairs and into the hollow area at the bottom of the tree. The pedestal was still there, but something had changed. Now, there was an octagonal slot carved into it that had a triangular slot jutting from each side of it. And below that was a deep slot the width of a scroll that seemed to go all the way down into the center of the trunk. Shadowhunter stepped outside to check on the moons. They were all there, but only two were full tonight. He turned back to the tree and froze in terror.

There were now nine platforms spaced evenly around the tree, and each one had a rotted corpse placed on it, and each corpse seemed to be desperately reaching up towards the tree, which was now fully dead and itself looked like a giant dragon talon reaching desperately up out of the earth due to its lack of leaves.

Shadowhunter looked down towards his talons and froze. He realized that he was standing on a tenth, empty platform, identical to the other nine, but lacking a corpse.

He sat up with a jolt. He was back, the dream was over, but he wasn't anymore at ease knowing it was over. He immediately wrote everything down. He looked outside, still midnight. He was afraid to go back to sleep now, but if Dreamweaver had really been right, this next dream would be very important. And so, reluctantly, he fell back into an uneasy sleep.

He awoke back in the rotting tree trunk, which no longer came as a surprise. He stood up, looked down at himself, and screamed. His own talons and scales were badly burned, his entire body was covered in horrible burns, and his wings were burned and shredded, almost to the point of looking skeletal. He could barely open them. Once he got over the initial shock, he stepped outside and nearly fell. The island was no longer in the middle of the ocean, but rather very high in the sky, above the cloud level. It was a very cloudy day, and he couldn't see all the way down, he just knew he was extremely high up to be above the clouds. The front of the island now had a rope bridge attached to it, and the bridge stretched a long distance over a chasm. It ended at a massive wooden fortress precariously perched atop a high mountain peak that appeared to be balancing on a bunch of massive roots that jutted out from the mountain’s peak and seemed to be holding up the entire building. Shadowhunter slowly crossed the chasm on the bridge, making sure to take extra care as his wings were useless if he fell here. Eventually, he reached the fortress and entered. The floor creaked worryingly under each step he took. He crossed to the back of the fortress and looked out of the tall, thin windows that ran the length of the back wall. Through a small clearing in the clouds, he could see a dense jungle far below. It was so far down that Shadowhunter got dizzy and turned to leave. But when he turned, there were other dragons there. Desertglass, Rust, Heatwave, Viperfish, Fauna, and Sumac stood there.

“You wont get away with this! We will stop you!” Shouted Desertglass.

“Actually,” Said a sinister voice that seemed to come from all around, “Ive got you right where I want you. You may think you can defeat me, but you cant! You will never stop the Darkest Night from coming! HYAH HAH HAH!

Suddenly, there was a massive explosion underneath them, and everything seemed to slow down. Shadowhunter watched as the fortress suddenly jolted backwards and began to lean down towards the jungle below. Flames burst through the floor near the entrance, immediately engulfing Fauna and Sumac. They both screamed as they began burning. Rust screamed and the sight, and Heatwave ran to grab them. At that same monet, the floor above them began to cave in, and the falling debris crushed Rust and Heatwave instantly. Desertglass turned to run towards the back, but tripped and the fortress lurched backwards again. A floorboard broke loose near the back of the fortress and stuck up in the air. Desertglass fell right into it and was impaled straight through the chest. As he lay there dying, he turned weakly to Shadowhunter, with an expression of pure terror on his face.

“I-im sorry…” He said weakly, “We-I thought we could win. I thought the plan would work. I… I… thought-”

Suddenly, the entire fortress around Shadowhunter fell away in a ball of flames. He watched as the walls and floor around him collapsed. He was left lying on a small chunk of floor that had somehow stayed up, supported by a single, smoldering root. The entrance to the fortress lay ahead of him, but now there was a large gaping hole between him and the entrance.

‘I have to jump for it’ He thought, eyeing his charred wings worriedly. Just as he was about to jump for it, the root gave way and the floor beneath his talons collapsed. Shadowhunter screamed as he fell down, down, down to the valley below, and as the world went dark around him, he yelled desperately, “I want to wake up!”

Sploosh!

He jolted up, screaming. He looked down at himself. His wings were intact, and his scales weren't burnt, rather, they were soaked.

“Are you ok!?” Asked Nightshade worriedly, “You were screaming, and shouted ‘I want to wake up’ in your sleep, so I dumped some water on you. Im sorry about that, but that must have been some nightmare you were having!”

“I guess you could say that,” Shadowhunter said, still shaken, “Thanks for waking me up, that was the most horrible dream I've ever had!”

“Well don't worry, you are safe now.”

But Shadowhunter did worry. He kept worrying all day. Was that part of the prophecy? How could he prevent that fate? Too many questions, not enough answers!

He visited Starflight again that day and showed him his documentations in the scroll.

“This is deeply disturbing, be very careful, Shadowhunter. If Dreamweaver really was somehow communicating with you through the dreams, and they really do mean something, you need to be very cautious, and please report anything that seems to be aligning with any of your dreams. I hate to imagine what kind of fate could come from this, but if it really is coming, at least we have a little information. It's too bad you weren't able to get Dreamweaver’s prophecy.”

“He told me it would be found when I need it most, so I guess I will have to wait and see. But I will make sure to report anything that I believe concerns the dreams. Thank you for the advice, Mr Starflight.”

That night, Shadowhunter lay in bed uncomfortably, trying to piece together what all these confusing dreams could be.

“I have another bucket of water ready in case you start freaking out again tonight.” Said Nightshade, “Lets hope you don't have anymore bad dreams!”

“Yes, lets hope…” Shadowhunter said. And as he laid there, he drifted uneasily into a dreamless sleep.

Notes/updates:

That took a lot longer to write than expected! This chapter wasn’t supposed to be so long, but it kind of got away from me lol. But that’s ok, cause I was able to load it with important information! We are finally getting a bit of important lore for the series, things will only get more exiting for our friends from here on out!

It may seem like not a lot happened this chapter, but trust me, those dream sequences were very necessary and important. As always, thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy CLW!

Banner Collab part 20: The Floof Heir

We are happy to say that we are doing our 20th banner collaboration and would like you to join us!

VINTAGE PRIDE!

For pride month, draw your OC representing yours or their pride colors with an outfit reminiscent of a style of the past. Any styles from Y2K to Victorian or even older are welcome! Let’s take a bit of time to remember the styles of the past as we move forward with flying colors!

Another batch of silos for the bow!

I’ve got some pretty interesting ones today:

First, i got this weird enamel-ish green one (it’s definitely just toned green, but it’s so even and perfect that it looks like the green enamel they used on the custom VWs). I can only imagine that the body must not have been plated at all before painting for it to look like this.

Next, a color variant I really love, Ice-Antifreeze/Lime (just a light spray, but I’ve seen other cars in this color, so I dubbed it “ice antifreeze” cause that sounds cooler than “light spray lime” lol). This one is also a true Two-Tone error, ice antifreeze body and an olive base.

Next is burnt orange. This will be a nice transitional color between bright orange and brown orange.

Next is a deep red one, this one was a gift from JPS (thanks man!) it’ll make a good transitional color between bright red and the RLC Mattel 80th anniversary Ruby Red one.

And finally, a true genuine Hot Pink! This one isn’t rose or creamy pink, it’s a true and real hot pink! The wheels appear to have been rechromed at some point, but that’s not a big deal to me.

What do y’all think?
