„Made in Bärlin“ in Paderborn, Geflügelgemüsedöner 7.50

Downsides of using a USB/PS2-Adapter with model m?

So I have a model M keyboard with a PS/2-Cord. It works on my old PC with such a port, and I always hear that for using those with a PC with USB-Only people recommend getting a Soarers‘ converter (?)
Now I got my hands on one of those adapters, I thought for one Euro it’s worth the risk, and it seems to work. Are there any downsides of using those?

1 euro extra (Steakdöner in normalem Brot ohne Käse kostet also 8.90)

Some observations on a quick mod

So I planned to do a mod with some bells and whistles, like, Bluetooth and stuff, but I was pushing it away.
Anyway, last night I could not sleep and built this one with parts I had. Based on a 5.5 30gb. Nothing special, just a large battery and a flashmod and a new case.
Some quick observations:
- you can fit the ribbon of a thin back in a thick back but it’s not as elegant
- this cheap aliexpress-front needed some work; I needed to add the slits between the screwholes and where the clips go in (also the home button was missing)
- that new-ish imcort-adapter with ipod 3-7 written on the PCB works fine with the cable that was in the iPod before
- I use a single cheap MicroSDXC from DM (German drugstore chain) with 128 GB which for now seems to work fine
- I ordered one of those new thick cases. People say it’s a tight fit, especially on iPod videos, and I was a bit worried. happy to report that it closes properly and fits like a glove, tested with both a stock thick ipod video and this one with an aftermarket front- and backplate. The older, thicker style of USB-cable also fits the port opening. Haven’t tested if it fits the iPod hifi yet.

The green on the frontplate does not look as saturated as on the photo but in the (smoke-black) case it has a nice deep green look. The screen is a bit tinted black, which you can work against with screen brightness, I like the effect it gives.

I synced ~30 gb/3800 songs to it and for now it works fine, I will report on reliability.
Also it was such a hack job that I destroyed a display in the process and filled the inside with paper towels to stop rattling. Oh and there’s one oh so tiny speck of dirt under the screen 😡

Look what I unearthed!

I recently moved and I found my zune and it’s charging cable which I thought I lost! I bought it used a few years ago, before the community resurrected those, and wasn’t able to sync music to it back then (it still has some audio books from the previous owner, I‘ll need to fix my PC before I can go more into syncing content to it), but at least the radio works and the battery still holds a charge.
