I posted a few days ago about looking for more people who play my most hated match ups and had a great response. I’ve not only increased my blood pressure but I’ve gotten some solid experience from it.

I wanted to put the invite out there for anyone else who’s interested in playing against others in the Salt Fighter community. The majority of us are in NA or those timezones, but all are welcome.

The other day I challenged a player from this sub after he made a funny comment and got completely dog walked. It was a good time even so, but it kind of reinforced what I already knew about myself, custom lobbies against my most hated match ups don’t trigger me… well not as much…

However, I do think that playing against my top 5 most hated would exhaust me, but I think it would prove beneficial for my growth… or send me to a psych ward or the ER.

With that being said, I don’t know if anyone has done this before but I kind of want to play against the salty community, both to help others against their hated match ups but also to help me against mine.

Since I play by feel only, I would like to request games from players of the following characters for more practice and provide my credentials below.

I’m genuinely curious what other people think and why? State your main too, I want to gain perspective for the NaCl.

Main: Zangief

Hate:

Sagat - 5MP > 5MP > 5MP > DR > 5MP > 5MP on top of his stupid range and brawler like play. People say he can be DI but no good Sagat is going to just Willy nilly throw out slow buttons to get DI’d if they are playing good neutral.

Mai - Satan’s greatest soldier. Finally nerfed a bit but I’m sick of the fan mix up, OD, charge fan slop into throw loops. Capcom please continue to take her back behind the barn like Ol’ Yeller.

Blanka - I’ve always hated this match up, his stupid dashing back and forth through me, his level 2… this is a 1 and done depending on my mood. Not even bringing up the boring Blanka v Blanka grand finals… 🤮

Kimberly - Her hairline starts at the crown of her head. This 5 headed hoe makes me sick to my stomach. Why does she need to get a 3rd bomb? How many more times are they going to buff this stupid character?!? I wish they gave us Maki or Guy instead, because Kimberly is so lame and cringe. Easily my most hated character in the game. I don’t like anything about her except her costume 3. Everything else about her is trash.

Dhalsim - Exhausting to play against for obvious reasons. I’ve witnessed some of the most nightmare-ish Dhalsim play recently and I hope to never experience such toxicity.

Honourable Mentions:

Manon - I have like 5 friends who play Manon and I’m tired of the match up and it’s boring to play for me.

Lily - Another character with a massive forehead that I can’t stand. I don’t like her design, but mainly my hate stems from her being my worst match up and the unnecessary decision to put booty shorts on the jailbait character.

There are 2 groups of idiots that plague this sub (when it comes to Zangief):

1) The idiots who say Zangief is broken.

And...

2) The idiots who say he's low tier.

I get that you may not like playing against Gief, and that's fine. This is what this sub is here for, so you can rage and be salty... BUT, it's really cringe to sit here and read the Gief downplay AND the "hE's Br0kEn" slop.

Let's start with the idiots who say he's broken. Do you know the match up? Do you know what is punishable/fake? Are you paying attention to patterns or how the person is playing in the match and adapting to it? If not, shut up. Just say that you don't like fighting him and leave it at that. There are literally characters who ARE ACTUALLY STRONG AF or BROKEN in this game, Zangief ISN'T one of them.

Now, to the second group,

For the idiots saying he's low tier. I would imagine many you are former/ current Zangief mains or Snakeeyez stream viewers. Just because Zangief was tuned down with his lower hitbox nerf, doesn't mean he's bad, nor does hearing Snakeeyez complain about Zangief and how he's moving onto other character's means Zangief is trash.

The pro scene is seeing the uprising of new, younger, and strong Zangief players. It's not SF4 where it was mainly just Snake and Itazan. Three of the top performing Gief players are under the age of 25; Kobayan, Jr. and now Haitai Raoyue (who is a 16 year old who placed top 16 at EVO back in June). Other pros who were using Gief while he was top tier used him FOR THAT PURPOSE, and when he received nerfs, they dropped him, that doesn't mean he's weak, it means that characters like BLANKA, MAI, SAGAT, and for a while, RYU, exist.

Some of you may argue "just because people do well that doesn't mean the character isn't terrible", or "he doesn't have a reversal outside of level 3"... why the hell do you think a grappler of his caliber needs a reversal? That's like saying that Bison should innately have Psycho Burst... Characters need to have weaknesses...

Yeah, I know Capcom doesn't like Zangief, yeah he has glaring flaws like his trash can level 1 and other things but it doesn't make him bad.

- Signed a Zangief (ONLY) main.

I wish my ex no harm. In fact, I'm still deeply in love with his phantom, or the mask he put on. I mourn the phantom often and dream of him.

But...

It's also kind of amusing. My ex boyfriend had a sanctuary, a woman who loved him FULLY even through the abuse. Never retaliated, never raised my voice, showed him nothing but respect, I was endlessly compassionate, kind, slow to anger, submissive, nurturing and loving beyond words. I almost worshiped the ground he stood on.

Even so, he abused me HORRIBLY and tortured me for almost a year. Emotional, psychological and racial abuse.

Now he gets to watch the warm, loving sanctuary I offered to him from the outside as he freezes to death and plays in the "mud". I suppose the former FWB he took off the shelf and ran to, isn't filling the shoes he VERY CLEARLY ADMITTED that he will NEVER be able to fill again.

No shit Sherlock. Too bad you sabotaged the whole relationship and refused to get help for your serious mental health issues.

Even so, part of me still fears him. The trauma bond is real, but right now, I feel some vindication.

I don’t want to take away from our grand introduction by listing off everything I love and don’t love, so I’ll give you a wee lil’ synopsis and you can figure out if you’d like to attempt this frandship thing… *proceeds to list off most things*

- I love people (even with my plethora of bad experiences 🤣, I love em’, can’t let the dark consume the light)
- have a silver Bengal cat
- very geeky/nerdy (games, anime, comics, manga, sci-fi)
- competitive gamer that also plays some casual stuff
- very interested in psychology and marine biology
- like food and sleep
- I like to bake cheesecakes
- I can cook but I’d rather eat cereal than cook for myself
- I love a good sense of humor (if I don’t laugh it off it will destroy me… XD)
- I like Lego
- I can be a bit self deprecating and cynical but it’s better to have a balanced view of one’s self than an over inflated view of one’s self)
- I like martial arts movies, but I’ve only seen a handful.
- I like weightlifting and I’m trying to get back into the gym… I went too ham and burnt out hard.
- I like classic wrastlin’ WCW attitude era and WWE back when it was WWF
- I CANNOT MULTITASK fair warning… focus and speak at the same time, ABSOLUTELY NOT! Want me to breathe while clutching a 1v3 for the game? NOPE! Heck, sometimes I hold my breath when I’m playing a bad matchup in Street Fighter, maybe that’s why my brain is so cooked.
- I don’t take myself overly seriously

I DON’T DO DRAMA or catty nonsense.
