For the last month or so, I have been trying to learn an animation tool (After Effects). I started off strong -- I watched many tutorials, started taking notes, planned to spent atleast a couple hours everyday on this tool. But then after a few days only, all the motivation went away and I started to procrastinate. It's not that I no longer want to learn it. It's just I am self learning the tool for myself, and I feel when you're self-learning, there's zero structure and zero stakes. Nobody notices if you skip a day. Or a week. If i was in school right now and I had to learn this tool for my class, I would push myself much more.
I am pretty sure many people have faced similar situations. So, I was thinking about co-learning. May be try to find someone who is also learning After Effects and learn together I guess. Has anyone done this before? Does co-learning help with procrastination?
I am making a blend walking and running animation — it is simply controlled by a number which goes from 0-100 (0 = walking; 100 = running). In the component, everything is fine. However, I can’t access the values in the instance. I gave a new view model to the artboard that holds the instance, and then added the component artboard’s viewmodel to it. Still, when I click on the state machine options (animations options in the right panel), where I expect to see the variable, I do not see it. Although I do see the variable in the data panel, even there it is not working.
What exactly am i doing wrong? I create a component which has an animation. Then i create instances in a new artboard using the nester feature. However, when I play the animation, it works only the first time. I am very confused.
