We have been TTC for going on 14 months now and never had a positive test. After having all other tests done it’s time to check my fallopian tubes. However, my doctor proposed an alternative to an HSG. she proposed doing a laparoscopic surgery to check for endometriosis and also checking my tubes while she’s in there. I’m very fortunate that the surgery and the HSG would be basically equivalent cost wise so in my mind there’s no doubt the surgery makes the most sense. My question is when to do it?

We are saving for a house right now with the hopes of being in our new house by the end of the year. The initial plan was to wait to do any other medical interventions (IUI, IVF, etc) until we were settled in the new house since, at this point we have nothing definitively telling us we cannot have children. But when I spoke with others their opinions were that I should get it done as soon as possible. What do you all think? I’m hesitant to do it right away because it would essentially be two full cycles that we are unable to try naturally due to pelvic rest, it’s full on surgery and they still could go in there and find nothing. Has anyone else done the endo laparoscopic surgery while TTC and can share some insights?
