Absolute trauma🙌

It all started with me playing WuWa, and right before collab I decided to watch Cyberpunk Edgerunners, just to get to know the characters. Checked the amount of episodes, duration, decided to bingewatch the entire thing within an evening.

What can I say… Not only I cried over anime as a grown man at 2am in the morning, I was stunned by how well the story was written. And I know I’m late to the party, but I felt like I just needed to get it out of my system.

I never felt that empty in my life. It’s been 5 days after I‘ve watched it and I‘ve been experiencing a genuine grief. Don’t even want to start another show to watch yet just because somehow my brain wants to soak it in, but at the same time wants to get away from it. The pacing of each episode was exactly right to build emotional impact towards Episode 10. As for the score and official song? Don’t even start… I can’t listen to it anymore the way I used to before watching the show. I hate it and I love it simultaneously. And then there is David’s storyline… Unfortunately I’m too aware with what’s like to chase someone else’s dream and be there for people regardless, that was like a personal kicker to this cocktail of emotions.

What destroyed me is actually the idea of fragility of cyberpunk. If you think about it, take away the industrial futuristic cosmetics - and you’re left with modern day: people struggling to pay out loans, mortgages, debts, it’s not the same as our parents, who could afford a house after saving up… we are essentially the lost generation at its core, running on the edge, just like Edgerunners.

So… what’s left? Love. Fragile, extreme, immature. Love that makes you hold onto this world. And David… he loved. But he forgot to live. The guy who sacrificed everything for love. That’s what wrecked me.

Anyways, decided to jump back into WuWa yesterday and after completing the cyberpunk quest, it really felt like I‘ve watched episode 11. not only it was canon, but Kuro actually did a great job of implementing story and creating Somnoire Night City, I was literally just walking around during the quest, glazing over rainy concrete landscape, it was absolutely spectacular.

Just wanted to talk about it, couldn’t bottle it inside.
