That's my jam!
Even in a pretty rough drought, our blackberries are doing great and I can't get this song from season 1 out of my head.

I'm in my 40s and am going on 20 years of professional experience. Before this job market I've never had to work contract to hire but had no other choice after being laid off & unemployed for nearly 6 months.
My manager has praised me the entire 5 months I've been there. He said on hire he'd probably convert me to permanent in July. I brought it up in our one on ones until I was confident he was still sure about it and convinced myself to have hope.
Then a new hire was randomly there... Oh and he's an old friend of my manager. Most concerning, he's not got the `(Contractor)` label in our company chat. I was worried but surely after this much discussion I'm fine.
Yesterday was my first one on one in July and I brought up conversion again. "No... I don't think we'll be able to convert in July, there's no seats open". No seats? You've been telling me for months there was a seat and it was mine. "Oh yeah... The new hire took that seat. There was just no way to make it work to get him hired on without making him perm".
The entire perm staff, oc including the new hire, is off today and I haven't had a day off in 4 months and I'm not working fucking 10 hour days to get Friday off, fuck that.
I am just so pissed and feel entirely betrayed by this manager. I started applying for other positions immediately, but with the job market I'll probably have to stay. The company is getting bought out by private equity too so hopefully the first thing they do isn't cut all contractors...
Edit: Note contract to hire, not a contractor sadly. I have no power here.
Edit 2: Literally fixing the new guy's work today lol, oc
Ever since I've been letting native plant species thrive in my yard my dogs have started foraging. Each time it gives me a slight heart attack, but so far they have known what they're doing (maybe luck but still interesting).
First they started eating goldenrod leaves. Apparently totally fine and just a nice spicy snack for them. My older dog will eat the more mature leaves but my younger dog sticks to younger growth. Today my oldest found and ate some mushrooms, bigger heart attack... But after much identification googling and being really sure it turns out it was a nontoxic variety.
I just find it interesting that my omnivorous doggos are finding such variety for their diet in random native plants.
The weeping cherry we inherited when buying the house needed some help so we got a tree service to prune and they've been adding nutrients around the roots for a year or so every few months.
Everything around the tree this year is so lush now lol. This Daisy fleabane is at least twice as tall as any others in my yard and the white clover is super thick.
I'm 100% seeing a few nymphs on my like 3 or 4 yo pawpaws. So far usually on the leaves or new growth branches. Should I worry? I can't find anything about them being a danger to pawpaws.
Central NC zone 8a.
I got an app that can id plants and it's been great. It tagged this as Common Elderberry. I tend to believe what it says but I'm just shocked...
Not mowing much and just letting stuff pop up has gotten me quite a few cool natives but this might take the cake.
I'm thinking of transplanting it to my front yard to get it away from the dogs. There are a few shoots right in a 1-2 foot radius.
