Friendly Reminder: Bike lanes are not passing lanes

I caught this dashcam video this morning at 8:30 on Hearst Castle Way. It features a vehicle illegally passing a Dart handicapped assistance vehicle by using the bike lane, within a neighborhood, only to get stopped at the same stoplight as everyone else.

Please remember that bike lanes are not passing lanes, and to be kind to your neighbors out on the roads.

agave death bloom on the median at preston and park

seems to be in its middle stages of the bloom, not crazy tall yet. the agave is certainly between 10-30 years old, what a great sight to see on a random stretch of road.

My pollinator alley strip

I hate mowing. So, I have been replacing every part of my yard that my spouse will let me with plants or mulch. Earlier this year, I rented a small tiller from HD and tilled the alley strip between my fence and the concrete, and planted a seed mix from Native American Seed. I am not sure if my neighbors like it very much, but it is more interesting than bermuda or st. augustine. I saw this pretty bee and chased him around for a few minutes trying to get a good shot. It's amazing how close you can get when they are preoccupied with flowers.

I'm trying to keep the height limited, and I edge anything that falls over in my bi-weekly mowing, to keep it nice and tidy looking for any code enforcers out there. But the Partridge Pea gets a pass on the height requirement... Such a pretty plant.

Guerrilla Gardening in Plano, Frisco

I have a small oak tree, sitting in a disintegrating pot in my yard. It popped up a couple of years ago, I assume from a squirrel. I don’t need another tree in my yard, so I was thinking of doing some Guerrilla Gardening and plant it somewhere that needs a tree.

Does anyone know of a place, preferably public, where I could plant the tree in the Plano or Frisco area?

Charging to 100% Procedures

I am probably overthinking this, but I have been roadtripping more in my R1S lately. I get nervous about my battery and charging it up to 100 percent. If I were to plug in before I go to bed, that means my battery would be sitting at 100 for about 5 hours before I depart.

Therefore, last weekend I changed up my procedures. The night before I travel, I plugged in and set my charge limit to 95%. Then, about an hour before my departure time, I updated the app to charge to 100 percent. That last 5 percent takes about an hour on my garage setup. Therefore, it hits 100 right before I leave. Its much easier than setting a schedule and doing the math to determine when to plug in for the charge level to reach 100 just prior to leaving.

Does anyone else have any other methods? I plan to keep my Gen1 R1S Quad for a long time, so I am doing my best for a long partnership....

Walmart Charging - Payment setup issue and resolution

Hi EV friends!

A new Walmart charger just opened up near me, and it doesn't have a physical tap-to-pay option on the stall. Because of that, you have to use the Walmart app to start and pay for your session.

When I tried to add my credit card directly through the card entry option on the EV charging page, the app repeatedly errored out. I tried a few different times on different days, but it just refused to save my information there.

The Workaround: If you run into this error, don't waste your time trying to force it through the EV screen. Here is what worked for me:

  1. Close and restart the Walmart app.
  2. Go into the main account menu (outside of the EV section).
  3. Add your card under the general/wallet payment options for your overall Walmart account.

Once I did that, the card successfully saved and became instantly available to use over on the EV charging side.

Just wanted to throw this out there as an FYI. If I encountered this buggy checkout flow, I'm sure someone else will too! Happy charging!
