Stuck between Dreame, Roborock and Narwal

I'm looking for a robot vacumm around $800. Most of the house is hard flooring and we don't have pets, so there are the three things I care about the most:

Edge cleaning: The open areas aren't a problem. It's the kitchen cabinets, baseboards, corners and around the dining chairs that annoy me. I don't want the robot to finish a run and still leave a line of dust or crumbs around the edges that I have to go back over myself

Less stuff to deal with: I'd like a dock that empties the dust bin, washes and dries the mops and refills the robot. I'm fine doing some maintenance, I just don't want to be dealing with the bin and mop pads after every run.

Obstacle avoidance: We have a lot of dining chairs, plus the occasional cord or small thing left on the floor. I want something that can get around those without getting stuck, but not one that's so cautious it stays way back from chair legs and cabinets and leaves a bunch of spots untouched. I also don't want a robot I have to babysit every time it runs.

I've narrowed it down to:

Dreame x50 Ultra
Roborock Qrevo Curv
Roborock Qrevo Curv S5X
Narwal Flow

I can stretch the budget a little if spending more means less touching up afterword and less maintenance. Has anyone used any of these for a while?

Anyone else paranoid about leaving their ebike outside?

Maybe I'm paranoid but I hate leaving my bike outside lol. My last e bike was stolen. A grand, just gone. So yeah, I checked on it a lot now. It comes up the elevator with me every night, no exceptions.

During the day I still have to leave it somewhere. I'll lock it up, go into a coffee shop, and then 5 minutes later I'm looking out the window like an idiot checking if it's still there. Grocery runs are even worse because I speedrun the whole store.

I got a myon and having Apple find my and motion beep were big plus for me. It has airlock too, amd still use a u lock, but I'm not babysitting the bike nearly as much anymore.

But still prefer the window seat though lol.

First season update as a new robot mower owner

This year was my first go with a robot mower. I had Goat a1600 lidar pro out there for most of the season, and looking back, there are a few things I'd change next time around.

  1. For starters. I'd spend a little more time getting the map right from day one instead of messing with bit by bit later. A couple spots around the flower beds needed adjusting, and I'd short out on day one next time.

  2. I would also do a quick check underneath every now and then insted of watching until there's a bunch of grass packed in there. Takes like a minute to knock the clippers out, and I started checking the blades as the same time.

  3. The other thing is that I would keep it on a regular schedule. At first i'd sometimes skip a run because the lawn still looked fine, then the next cut would be heavier than it needed to be. Once I just let it run on Schedule, the lawn looked a lot more consistent and I stopped thinking about it so much.

Juat some random thoughts. Anything else you'd add?

My experience swiching from spinning mop to a roller mop

I had been using a robot vaccum with spinning mop pads for a while. Vacuuming was not the issue, but the mopping is nope. It’s okay for regular daily cleaning but if there's a bigger mess or some sticky spills like ketchup or coffe, it tends to just spread the dirt around instead of cleaning it up. So I returned.

After watching a lot of robot vacuum reviews, I noticed a lot of people talking about roller mops. That got me interested in trying one,and the ecovacs t90 pro omni was One of the few roller mop options that fit my budget.

After using it for a few days I'd say the mopping exprience is different. I was impressed with how it handled wet marks. Since the roller is rinsing while it mops, it dosen't feel like it's spreading dirt around the house. The kitchen and dining area feel much cleaner than before. Even after walking around the house in socs, the bottom stay clean.

I also noticed some smaller details. Around the tv stand, under the kitchen cabinets, and other spots where dust usually builds up, the roller extemds slightly as it approaches the edge and follow along it. The dust my old robot would usually leave behind is mostly gome now. That was unexpected bonus.

Anyway, it's great overall. I'm not saying they're better for everyone but they've been a better fit for my home than the spinning mop robot I had before.

Watched the infimaker k1 live stream last week, here is what stood out

Caught infimaker live stream last week. What caught my attention more than anything was infistudio. They showed the whole workflow from a 2D image to a 3D model, then to toolpaths, all on that touchscreen. The software also auto matched cutting parameters from what looked like a built in material database, and had a simulation view so you could see the toolpath before hitting start. It looked more like using a tablet app than traditional CAM software. Didn't seem like you had to dig through endless menus just to get a basic job running.

They also mentioned it can import STL, STEP, OBJ files and even run G code from third party CAM if you want to use Fusion or something else. That's a big deal to me because I was worried it would be a completely closed system. Having the AI assisted route for quick stuff, plus the option to bring in your own toolpaths, makes it feel a lot more fiexible.

They had the machine cutting in the background the whole time, which I was glad to see. It was their own stream, so I'm taking everything with the usual amount of skepticism. Still, it was nice to see them actually using the machine insted of just a bunch of renders and spec sheets.

Dis anyone else watc it? What did you think of the interface? It looked approachable from the demo, but I'd be interested to hear what people with more CNC experience thought.

Halfway through summer and I'm still not scrubbing the pool by hand

Bought my first Aiper robot this spring and it has been the best pool decision I have made in years. Mornings used to start with a net and a brush. Now it is coffee and checking the app to see if the cycle finished.

I was worried it would just become another gadget to manage, but it has made the whole season easier. Waterline is cleaner, the surface stays clear, and I am not spending my weekends chsing leaves around.

How is everyone else's pool season going so far? Any maintanace headaches, or has it been smooth sailing? Would love to hear what is working for you and what you wish you had known back in may.
