RS457 sanity check.

I have been shopping for my second bike (replacing) for the past couple of months.

I have a quote for a RS457 that would be $8,476 (USD) out the door but freight charge was $1025, which seems to be way more then it should be (PNW US if that matters).

Also, I am coming from a '19 z400 and I am wondering if this make sense? I am less then an year into ride motorcycle so staying with a beginner bike seems reasonable but so does going up in power.

Anyway, any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Daytona 660 or no?

I have been shopping for my second bike (replacing) for the past couple of months.

One of the best options I have found would be a 2025 or 2026 Daytona 660. Maybe I am being influenced by online rhetoric of the line not being what it used to be and there are better options. It is still making me hesitant because it feels like Triumph does really care about their sport bike line.

Anyway, any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Are 2025/26 Daytona 660 worth while?

I test road a 2026 Daytona 660 this weekend. It was a lot of fun but I am slightly concerned that it seems like Triumph doesn't really care about their sport bike lineup. They are more focused on their other product lines: trident, tiger, etc. For the 2026 model year, they didn't really do that much to the bike. Maybe I am over thinking this.

I am also looking into: R7 (most fun but uncomfortable), RS660 ($$$), ZX-4RR (not ridden yet). The Daytona seems the most balanced among these.

Is this a reasonable upgrade?

I currently have a 2019 z400. I am considered getting a new bike this summer as I want a sport bike.

Since I am still fairly new I thought to get an RS457, CBR500r, or a ZX-4R(R). However, this doesn't seem like it would be worth the money (mainly the RS or CBR, I know the ZX is a different beast) for such a small upgrade.

But with that said, I thought maybe it would be worth it to just go to RS660 or Daytona 660 (maybe CBR650r and I don't think I could do the aggressive seating of R7).

All of these bikes I still need to test ride so that is still a factor but I have sat on all of them.

Any thoughts or anecdotes would be appreciated.

A local used bike dealer has a 2025 Aprillia RS 457 for $6,899 with ~173 miles. I believe the out the door was low 8k. I think the base price is more then the MSRP for a new one. The dealer said this is cheaper because it won't have the new bike fees from the dealer, which I guess is fair.

I'm just checking if this makes sense to anyone or if it may be a rip off. Thanks.
